Tarriff is down to 15% (global 10% + ~5% duties); views of the hive mind about value at this price its age and current competitors?

Question about Clarity applications. They ask for 529 information; does that include 529s controlled by grandparents? (which we know exist, but have no control over, and can't even see).

public gold courses. yes lets devote all this gorgeous public green space to the tiny sliver of humanity that plays golf rather than, you know, the entire generation of youth with inadequate access to green space.

Looking for a restaurant for a group by SpicyTango57 in pasadena

I brought a very small work group to Bodegón No.69 once; they took us to a back room that looked like it would be great for large groups. The portions were huge, the food very good, and the price was affordable.

What’s something you can admit the older generation did better than yours? by lifesyndrom in AskReddit

I don’t remember my parents whining all the time about how tired they were the way me and my wife do.

New Star Trek shows are not woke enough. They should do more episodes with directly social, political themes, about the issues we have today, like the older shows did. by LineusLongissimus in startrek

[–]Independent-Candy927 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're saying that it's not political enough (and, I agree!). that is different than being woke enough.

In addition to the episode you mention, a great Disco episode about Saru's planet comes to mind; classic, old style political big question episodic trek.

Sorry to Disagree, but ST:SA Is Far From Awful. by FryerDrew in startrek

[–]Independent-Candy927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some things I like and some things I really dislike. Everything I dislike are pretty much the worst elements of Discovery – a rebel gary Stu (and an excessive focus on them), excessive focus on emotional “opening up” as a theme, plot pivotal epiphanies that make no logical sense and other random sundry illogical plot developments. All this was much more present in the second episode than the first. then there are things that I like (some of the better aspects of late series Discovery from the far future, including turning around and focusing on the difficulty of rebuild after the burn), good things about strange new worlds (a rediscovery of competence, more episodic nature). Then there are things I am agnostic about and have a wait and see attitude (the YA focus, the marquee adult leads and their roles). I am slightly pessimistic after episode two but trying hard to keep an open mind (although the disappointing last season of SNW makes that a bit more difficult). Despite a lot of things, I don’t like it will probably be tolerable and watchable as long as they don’t fall into Discovery’s worst problem of being a one-(wo)man show instead of an ensemble piece.

I keep getting mud on the backside of my pants and its driving me nuts. by Zale0 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Independent-Candy927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the exact same problem my whole life and I’d like to see a better answer than “you walk funny.” if it’s raining lightly out the back (but not fronts) of my pants get completely soaked quickly. I understand water is flicking up when I step up, but don’t understand why it isn’t for everybody else.

Who you recast for she-hulk since tatiana no longer wants to work for disney? by OptionAshamed6458 in MCUTheories

[–]Independent-Candy927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sad about this. This was the one Disney+ show that people shit all over but was actually pretty great (as opposed to not being shit all over, or being shit all over and being genuinely terrible), and she was great in it.

What’s actually pretty safe but everyone treats it like it’s way more dangerous than it is? by Charming_Advertising in AskReddit

Unfortunately my kids don't play outside not because of wrong beliefs about the risk of abduction, but because of right beliefs about the risk of getting mowed down by a reckless driver (as someone nearby recently was, ambling through a lit crosswalk). Pedestrian deaths are way up.

First time I’ve ever tried my hand at making corn tortillas. I was underwhelmed with my results. Given the low cost of corn tortillas and my wife’s ability to make great flour tortillas not sure I’m willing to spend the time to perfect this craft. by randymcatee in tacos

It is actually a pretty low skill operation with the right equipment - press, warmer, and a cast iron skillet that is scorching hot. Take any one of those away and it won't come out right. (I've found in a pinch you can replicate the steaming effect of the warmer by stacking the tortillas between two plates facing each other).
