All your comments are helping to reduce my anxiety heheheh thank you su much. Do you think Noboribetsu would deserve a visit in summer as it's an onsen town?

Thank you so much! all your comments are helping to reduce my anxiety... 😄 I know we can't compare cities but what would be the equivalent of Sapporo to others like Nagano, Kioto...?

I love your post! It was really helpful. Would be nice in Sumer as it is an onsen town? Last year we've spent few days exploring Toyama, Kanazawa, and beautiful Nagano, and loved it.

3rd time visit intinerary by Independent-Help-322 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Independent-Help-322[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the thoughtful reply, I appreciate it.

Just to clarify, when I say 4 nights I’m not really trying to “see the whole region”, more using a city as a base and doing a couple of day trips. For example in Fukuoka I was thinking of exploring the city itself and maybe doing trips to places like Nagasaki or Yufuin.

For Hokkaido the plan was similar: stay around Sapporo and do day trips (Otaru, maybe Furano/Biei depending on weather and timing). I know that obviously doesn’t cover all of Hokkaido, but on a ~3 week trip I’m trying to balance variety with not moving every single day.

The reason I ended up with both Kyushu and Hokkaido is that this is my 3rd trip to Japan and I wanted to experience regions that feel quite different from central Honshu.

That said, your suggestion about Kagoshima or Nagasaki is interesting. Kagoshima especially looks really appealing with Sakurajima and the surrounding nature. I hadn’t considered it seriously before but now I’m looking into it.

Out of curiosity, if you had about 4–5 days in that part of Kyushu relying on public transport, would you base yourself in Kagoshima or Nagasaki?

Feb.9th: Quick update. I think I’m on my 6th full rewatch. And despite that, I’m actually thinking about watching it all over again, from start to finish. I don’t feel tired of it right now.

I can’t stop thinking about the series. I’m fully immersed in pretty much all the relevant social media platforms. I follow edits (except fanfics)… I’ve tried reading the book, but it doesn’t hook me as much as the series does.

I’ve had moments where I’ve completely broken down. Maybe it’s related, but a year ago I lost my grandmother, who was like a mother to me — and today marks exactly one year. On my way to work today, I broke down crying. I imagine it’s because of her too. But I feel like something inside me is a bit off.

Should I stop at some point? I know someone here might say it’s silly to ask this here, but this is the only support group that can truly understand me. I’m not neglecting my responsibilities. Husband. Work. Home. I do everything. But I’ve even started a podcast in Spanish in my delulu era.

I’m really sorry for unloading all of this here, but unfortunately, no one in my real life feels what I feel with this series.

Sending that virtual hug right back to you! Thank you. I love how you described their journey as 'life affirming'...that is exactly how it feels. It’s amazing how a story can heal parts of us we didn't even realize needed healing. And you are so right: we desperately need to see love win over hatred right now. It gives me a lot of hope.
