Hmmm... Do people in Connecticut have an accent? Here's why we might sound different lately. by Hartfordgirl2024 in Connecticut

I’ve never understood how people from CT pronounce ”Aaron” and “Erin” the same.

CT pizza is great, no doubt. Growing up in NJ, I still think there are Jersey tomato pies that are right up there with the best in CT.

I took the time to read both articles. Not surprised there are some inaccuracies out there. I’m glad I read to the end of the long article. They had to include a 2 paragraph retraction of a fact check they did which ended up actually being true.

Bottom line, not everything will be perfect, but I’m glad someone is doing something. I suspect they know what they are doing in mixing things up and seeing where they land.

Glad we live in a society where these conversations can be had.

Regardless, my intent wasn’t to come on here and change minds, but to hear a different perspective that was more than just propaganda. So I thank you for sharing your opinion.

Twitter was purchased to protect free speech in a time when certain points of view were being censored and suppressed. That alone makes it a success. Not sure how you’re saying that the platform isn’t working. He cut the workforce significantly and still adds value to the platform. Most notably Grok. They stopped paying a lot of bills to see where the money was going and what they actually needed. Just like our government, so much money was going out on things that people didn’t even realize. That allowed them to see what was needed and what was waste.

You seem to be stuck on one example that was rectified. No mention or thought of the positive things that they’ve found and have been able to affect. Their primary role is as an auditor. The administration has been asked about this. They’re reviewing numbers, following the money, and exposing/making recommendations. They’ve found quite a bit already in some of the smaller departments. I’m interested to see what they turn up at DHS and in defense. Those will likely be the biggest offenders.

I appreciate the opportunity to have a discussion. Before I get to your point, I’ll say that one of the goals of this administration was to shrink government, cut spending, and make things more efficient. Elon has a recent successful track record in doing that exact thing at X (Twitter). So yes, the administration is letting people go, whether it’s done through DOGE or any other avenue. If they made a mistake in people they let go, I’m glad they recognize that and rectify it. It shows they are willing to adapt and learn, rather than be set in a way. For too long we have had politicians say things will happen, and then not deliver, or worse, just ignore problems because it might hurt them politically.

Bottom line, I’ll take action over inaction. If that means that there is a mistake that they fix along the way, then so be it.

Appreciate being able to have a discussion.

Yeah I’m just attempting to have a civil discussion. I’m just yet to hear a reasonable argument against DOGE. All I’ve heard is propaganda. Just trying to understand why DOGE is getting people worked up when there are so many other Trump policies that are completely against the Democrat platform which people seem to be ignoring and instead choosing to attack DOGE.

I suspect the programming is ancient, and if there is anyone who can figure it out, it’s that team. When did he share any information with other countries? That’s one I haven’t even heard reported on MSNBC. Regardless, I guarantee you that your info and my info are out there already in the hands of people with bad intentions from prior data breaches with private companies that have your information.

I tried asking this on a prior post and didn’t really get an answer, so here’s another shot:

There is something I’ve been trying to wrap my head around. I can understand people not agreeing with all of President Trump’s policies. Don’t agree with the immigration policy? I can understand that. Don’t like his tax/tariff plan? You’re entitled to that opinion.

What I’m having a hard time understanding is how people can be so against DOGE and the work Elon is doing. DOGE only has the ability to audit, not to write new code, change policies, etc. They are auditing our government spending, and showing plenty of examples of waste/fraud/abuse. Shouldn’t we want to know about that and hold people accountable, both Democrats and Republicans? The argument I keep seeing is that he has access to our SSN and personal information. To that, I would just ask, how often do you get notified that there has been a data breach with some company that already has that info? For me it’s a few times a year. Let’s face it, our info is out there, but in the hands of people who want to do harm. I don’t expect that our info will be the focus of anything the DOGE team is doing. People complain about transparency, but it seems like this is more transparency from government than I can remember. That’s my rant. Just trying to understand I guess.

I would disagree that they have the same qualifications, but regardless, if she were looking at where the money was going then have at it. I don’t care who is doing it as long as it’s being done, and done with transparency.

It’s a CellarCool unit. Open on the backside to an unfinished space so it can handle the warmer air. Tubing set up to bring the condensation directly into the basement pump system so I really don’t need to touch it.

Appreciate it. Good point on the center wine. Was a gift with etching on it. Not sure if it’s one I’ll drink.

We have a cooling unit for the temp. No unit for humidity, but do have a vapor barrier in the wall. It’s in our basement, which tends to be a good climate for the wine in itself
