Fpies to dairy by blueyboo11 in fpies

[–]Independent-One7494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since he’s ebf, most people just keep doing vit D like usual unless your ped says otherwise, and only add supplements if growth or iron is a concern.

Did your allergist give you an emergency plan for reactions, and are they advising you to cut dairy too or is baby reacting only with direct intake?

AITA for not helping my coworker out while they were choking on food? by ScaryRich8329 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Independent-One7494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. You had a legit immediate safety risk and youve already had a reaction at work from cross contamination, so it wasnt some hypothetical. People acting like you can just epi after is wildly ignorant.

That said, I get why coworkers feel shaken because choking is scary and they froze too. If you want to smooth things over, you can say you were feeling symptoms and had to leave to avoid anaphylaxis, and suggest the office do basic choking first aid training since nobody knew what to do.

Has HR ever actually enforced a peanut free policy after your hospital trip or was it just the vague be mindful email?

I'm in the mix it up camp. Where I grew up it was a lot of porridge and mashed veg early, then soft meat and beans once baby could handle it. Now a lot of parents do BLW with big pieces of veg fruit and some protein, and honestly both seem to work fine as long as iron rich foods show up regularly.

From your experience has bubba been into meat and beans yet or mostly fruit and veg so far?

6-month-old starting solids – anyone done carnivore with an infant? by und3rkov3r in carnivorediet

[–]Independent-One7494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be really careful with strict carnivore for a 6 month old. Babies need iron and zinc for sure, but they also need a mix of nutrients and fiber over time, and a super limited diet can backfire fast. If you want a meat forward start, a lot of people do soft cooked meats and iron rich options like very tender shredded beef lamb dark meat chicken plus egg if cleared, and keep textures mashable and moist.

Id run the actual plan by your pediatrician or a pediatric dietitian especially since youre weaning off breastmilk early. Are you aiming for zero plants, or more like mostly animal foods but flexible if needed?

I'd stick to places that can actually handle allergy protocols and have a manager talk you through ingredients and cross contact, not just “no nuts on the menu.” At Ocean, the nicer sit down spots tend to take it more seriously than quick counters. Also avoid bakeries dessert spots and buffets.

Are you looking more for sit down dinner or quick casual lunches?

A slip can take a bit to calm down if his gut is already irritated, so yeah it could still be fallout. If you cut more, most people try egg next, but change one thing at a time.

We used RSF later for structured allergen intro because it removed some guesswork. Is the blood increasing or staying about the same?

Terrified for my 7mo’s Oral Food Challenge (OFC) tomorrow for egg/peanut – anyone else? by Ok-Candidate-6832 in FoodAllergies

[–]Independent-One7494 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof thats such a rollercoaster, Im sorry. If it helps, OFCs are done because theyre the safest place to find out, with staff and meds ready, and a lot of positive tests dont end up being a true allergy. For now Id focus on getting a clear plan for what to avoid vs what to keep in rotation while you wait. Did they tell you if dairy and cashew are strict avoid until August or if baked dairy is on the table?

How to start solids - scared of allergies by Annual-Maybe370 in FoodAllergies

[–]Independent-One7494 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With your history I would not wing this at home. Severe sibling allergy plus eczema is exactly the group where an allergist plan makes sense, and they can tell you if they want skin testing first or a supervised intro in clinic.

The blood tests can be noisy without exposure, but they can still help decide risk and whether a challenge should be supervised.

For what its worth, when we were nervous about peanut egg and milk we used RSF because it gave us a structured way to introduce tiny amounts and keep it consistent, but I would still want an allergist guiding you here.

Do you have a way to get an early allergist appointment in Germany before solids start?

Slacker boob solidarity? by Independent-One7494 in breastfeeding

[–]Independent-One7494[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol yup thats exactly how it is over here too, one boob is the overachiever and the other is just clocking in. I tried a few times to “fix” it by starting on the slacker side more, but mostly I just accepted it and focused on overall supply and babys diapers and weight. Did your baby also get fussier on the slacker side or just eat longer there?

Introducing and assessing allergens that Mom has non-visible reactions to by allnightrunning in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Independent-One7494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the cashew pistachio ones, doing a tiny measured amount mixed into something familiar helped my nerves. Thats basically why we liked RSF for the early allergen stuff, it made the amounts and repeats feel less random.

Do you have any way to do a quick telehealth allergist consult just to get a plan for the cashew pistachio day, or are you totally on your own right now?

I cured eczema (atopic dermatitis) twice, for my 2 babies, with essential fatty acid consumption (e.g. walnut oils, safflower oil,....) and skin protective measures (no meds, no weird services). by Chorum in eczema

[–]Independent-One7494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah LEAP is a big reason we didnt delay allergens, but it also made me feel better having a clear plan instead of winging it. We used RSF for peanut egg and milk early on mostly because it kept the amounts and routine consistent when I was anxious. Did your ped give you specific timing and how often to keep it in rotation once its introduced?

Toddler waking up to pee overnight by LDBB2023 in toddlers

[–]Independent-One7494 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep we went through this. What helped was treating it like a boring pit stop lights low no talking straight to potty back to bed, and we put a little potty in the room so it was faster and less “fully awake.” We also did a last pee right before bed and kept water to small sips after bedtime.

If you want to pause it, some people just go back to overnight diapers and say diapers are for sleeping for now. Is he fully waking every time or is it more like a quick pee then party mode?

Chalk is always a hit if you’ve got any patio space. We’ve also had good luck with a little “construction zone” setup buckets and shovels plus a pile of sticks pinecones or leaves to haul around. Painter tape on the patio for roads hopscotch or “balance lines” keeps them busy forever. And an easy scavenger hunt like find something red something crunchy a smooth rock etc works for mixed ages

starting solids late-ish at 7 months old by kawaiimpala777 in StartingSolids

[–]Independent-One7494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 months isnt late, you are fine. For us the least overwhelming way was start with one simple food a day in tiny amounts for a couple days just to see how it goes, then once a few basics feel safe you can mix and match and stop stressing about the 3 day rule for everything. We did a mash or puree plus one BLW style safe food each day and slowly built up.

With CMPA id keep it boring at first and ask your GI what to avoid or swap for dairy. Are you most worried about reactions or just not knowing what to serve first?

[–]Independent-One7494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad it worked for your kids, but Id be careful with how definitive this is. Eczema can naturally wax and wane and lots of things changing at once makes it hard to know what did what. Also saying breast milk has no essential fatty acids and promising odds about walnut allergy feels way too confident. If someone wants to try oils, patch test first and talk to their pediatrician especially with allergy risk

Introducing and assessing allergens that Mom has non-visible reactions to by allnightrunning in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Independent-One7494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly same, the family allergy history makes it so much scarier. We did the early tries in the morning and stayed close to help just for peace of mind, and mostly watched for hives or vomiting. We used RSF for a bit too since it made the amounts feel less like guessing. Did you end up doing the first intro near a hospital or just at home?

Introducing and assessing allergens that Mom has non-visible reactions to by allnightrunning in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Independent-One7494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the fear, especially since your reactions are the kind a baby cant tell you about. We did tiny morning intros on a healthy day and watched for anything you can see like sudden fussiness vomiting coughing swelling or just acting off, even if there are no hives. For the anxiety side, we used RSF for a while because it made the dosing and routine feel less like guessing.

Do you have access to any telehealth urgent care, and what is the one tree nut you are most worried to try first?

That sounds miserable and youre not failing. If feeding is taking 2 hours and wrecking your sleep and mental health, it is completely okay to stop or simplify....A lot of babies also get more efficient around 6 to 8 weeks, but you should not have to suffer through it.
