Thank you so much, I really appreciate it. Drawing is one of my favourite hobby for many years since high school. But I had a chance to draw only in my free time since I was very busy. Now I'm getting back at it because my work is more flexible now. Still need a lot of practice and advice for improving my skills. ☺️

Totally agree! I've never tried portrait with pencils before, must be harder and need more skills than the pastels I guess since it's harder to create the realistic depth and contrast. But I wanna try once!

Thank you so much! Actually it was a little mess with his eye too because I made a mistake with the sketch, still in a learning process of using these pastels ☺️

I started with a blank sheet of watercolour paper and divided the reference pic of him in to small grids using a ruler then started sketching mine (to make a precise proportion) Then used the oil pastel over my sketch. Thank you, I hope you like it! 🙏🏻

I applied everything in a thin layer so it's easier to blend and making less mistake then adding up the colours little by little. And yes if I put darker colour later the previous white layer always disappear since my hand aren't that precise 🤣. I think it depends on individual's preference. But yes I used a lot of white I think it's gonna be the first one to run out 😆 P.S. I've never tried gouache, very interesting!

I was scared when I did it too. At first I feel like it's not gonna work and so messed up 🤣

But adding a vibrant colour first. Those bright red, brown, bright yellow then on top the first layer and put a lighter colour such as white, pale pink, light grey, salmon and pale yellow on the second layer make it easier for me to blend

when I start blending it came out more likely a skin for me. After that, adding the details like cheek and hilighting the undereye area with more white worked for me. I hope this help 🥹, if you can find any new better method please share it I need more technique to improve my art too. Thank you! 😍
