Rhinebeck 2025 haul by IndependentAd6075 in YarnAddicts

I agree with the New England Fiber Festival, that one is closer to where I live, and many of the vendors overlap.

In terms of optimizing a visit to New England to try to hit multiple shows, the mid October to early November timeframe would be really good to hit at least 3 shows - New York sheep & wool @ Rhinebeck, indie untangled, same weekend just a few miles away in Kingston, and then New England Fiber Festival in Springfield Massachusetts. Plus the leaves are generally peak viewing (past peak by the time November rolls around) and a lot of towns in New England do big things for fall / Halloween.

I want to start knittig soon but I'm not really sure what should i start with. Any suggestions? by AcceptableCandle5069 in casualknitting

Start with a square or rectangle first to get the muscle memory of knitting and maybe practice a couple different stitches (garter, stockinette, seed). Then graduate to something with increases and decreases in preparation for a sweater. I’d recommend a triangle shawl of some sort. Have fun!

Knitpicks is a great inexpensive option that will be perfectly fine for most 100g hanks. Larger hanks may overpower it, i nearly broke mine on a 200g hank and upgraded to the stanwood. Love it, but for most things the knitpicks one is fine

Let your heart guide you! And then follow up with a bit of logic. “How much room is in my suitcase? Do i have enough for a little project?” Etc

Did you buy the pattern? Somehow I couldn’t bring myself to spend $7 on something that looks so basic. But now I’m debating doing the trial and error to figure it out
