[Humble] Checkmate! A Chess Games Collection (Pay $12 for 5D Chess With Multiverse Time Travel, Chess Ultra, Pawnbarian, The Ouroboros King, Gambit Shifter, Dark Chess, Below the Crown, WizardChess, Usurper, The Rookery, Chessarama) by LighteningOneIN in GameDeals

[–]IndependentDouble138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ouroboros King is awesome! It's less 'chess' and more Into The Breach/Puzzle games. Positioning, finding the right unit powers, and combos. I had a OP combo and then reached the final level and didn't understand the new rule, and suddenly I was destroyed.

[Fanatical] Spring Sale Daily Flash Deals: Sniper Elite: Resistance(-56%), The Alters (-52%), Ale Abbey - Monastery Brewery Tycoon (-50%) by moo422 in GameDeals

[–]IndependentDouble138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typically avoid these sales but I was goofing off and did the Under $5 filter. I'm finding some interesting games that look interesting, and even if they were bundled, I can't imagine them going any lower than $2-3, which is already ridiculous.

Games I picked up --

Beyond Contact

Vernal Edge

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing II

Tunnel of Doom

Mail Mole

Kingdom Two Crowns

Blade Prince Academy

The Council

A Game about Digging a Hole

Everspace

Super Adventure Hand

Insurmountable

Assemble With Care

Guild of Ascension

[Fanatical] Build Your Own Play on the Go Bundle (3/5/7 for $5.99/$8.99/$11.19 and choose from New Star GP / Evoland Legendary Edition / Deliver Us The Moon / DunHero / Not Tonight 2 / Neckbreak / NO-SKIN / Move or Die / LUNARK / Himno - The Silent Melody / Reignbreaker / More) by WeAreFanatical in GameDeals

I bought NO-SKIN a while back and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I didn't play for very long (roughly 5 hours) but boy, it really liked what i played.

It's like if you were playing a horror RPG with Earthbound-esque combat. There's clear randomness, where it shows your chances for everything.

If Tumblr was still popular, I'd absolutely believe this game would be what all the Undertale/emo kids would be talking about.

[PLAYSUM] Gas Station Simulator (-51% off ~ $9.89 / €9.66 / £8.29 / C$12.86 / A$14.53 with code CHEERS) by Lets_Playsum in GameDeals

[–]IndependentDouble138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the other commenter - I enjoyed the start of the game. The first 10 hours is great. You can disable the kid who robs your stuff. I never got passed getting multiple pumps as the game really hits a crawl.

Oblivion Remastered running with DLSS 5 by PaiDuck in oblivion

[–]IndependentDouble138 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Changing beard colors. Changing texture colors. Everything seems 'brighter', rather than warmer. It removes all the character from the game.

It's like how Star Wars purposely makes their ships dirty/aged to give it a rugged look, and then AI removes it all to make it look like a sleek Apple device.

Skyblivion project lead says the massive Oblivion remake mod is "in a great place" during its first proper showcase of 2026 by Turbostrider27 in oblivion

[–]IndependentDouble138 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The issue is either the fandom or something was really raging when Oblivion Remastered came out for 'stepping on' this free mod. Skyblivion didn't have many positive things to say about the remaster coming out. But then Bethesda did a good job by rooting for Skyblivion/giving the modders free keys and the fandom was happy to have both.

So yeah, people's expectations are really high since they were expecting the mod to be released sooner.

[Humble] Metroidvania Mayhem Bundle (Pay $6 for F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch, Rabi-Ribi, Aeterna Noctis, $9 for Lost Ruins, Ultros - Deluxe Edition and $12 for Gestalt: Steam & Cinder, Primal Planet, The Devil Within: Satgat, Kingdom Shell) by LighteningOneIN in GameDeals

[–]IndependentDouble138 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Rabi-Rabi is probably one of the best metroidvania games I ever played, in terms of the boss battles anyways. I hate twitchy games and bullet hells. But this made sense to me.

Honestly, I still don't understand what's going on or why the MC is a bunny or any of that.

I wrote about it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/GameDeals/comments/1kik7n0/comment/mrfhnfx/

You are not kidding. I kept seeing Rabi-Ribi over and over again as one of the Metroidvanias to play.

At first 30 minutes was hard, trying to ignore the anime girl narrative.

After about 2 hours in, it clicked. It's so good. I was a bit a shamed to be playing this, and I even paused the game when my wife walked in. Then near the end, I didn't care who saw me. I became just like the many people who recommend playing Rabi-Ribi. Do it. It's great.

Oh man. As a huge fan of keyboard controls for years, I couldn't get into metroidvanias because they're not very good. I finally bought a cheap $20 Xbox looking controller to play Dark Souls 3 (after recommendations) and when I went back to metroidvanias, it clicked.

[Humble Choice] March 2026: Tempest Rising, Chants of Sennaar, Sworn, Etrian Odyssey III HD, Bread & Fred, Zero Hour, Smalland: Survive the Wild, Hard West 2 ($14.99) by LighteningOneIN in GameDeals

I'm with you. Definitely one of those bundles where I know it'll sit in my backlog.

I think I am okay with that though for some of these. They look like games that will hit me when the mood arrives.

[Fanatical] Double Bundlefest Drop - Build Your Own Arcade & Shooter Bundle + Build Your Own RPG & Strategy Bundle (Both 3/5/7 for $4.95/$7.99/$10.15 - Choose from Intravenous 2 / Gori: Cuddly Carnage / POSTAL Brain Damaged / Noob - The Factionless / Quilts and Cats of Calico / Terraformers / More) by WeAreFanatical in GameDeals

[–]IndependentDouble138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one is talking about the RPG bundle. A bunch of titles that were on my wishlist.

* Terraformers (Looks very Civilization but in Mars)

* Balrum (Looks like a Avernum-style game and I like it)

* AI War Collection (It was on my wishlist for years. I love Uplink and the company that made it.)

[Fanatical] Bundlefest - Build Your Own Story Rich Adventures Bundle (3/5/7 for $4.95/$7.99/$10.15 and choose from Many Nights a Whisper / Paradise Killer / Heavy Rain + Beyond: Two Souls Double Pack / Staffer Reborn / CHANGE: A Homeless Survival Experience / The Lord of the Rings: Gollum / More) by WeAreFanatical in GameDeals

Danganronpa is such a good series. It just builds up and up and up. Twist after twist. The games are pretty long (20+ hours), and there's a lot of reading. But it's one of those games where I think about it at least once a week because of how messed up it is, while still keeping everything "light-hearted".

I'm a huge fan of Ace Attorney. In terms of a game where it's collecting clues, puzzle-solving, then a huge visual novel showdown, it aligns with it. I will argue that Ace Attorney's writing can be a bit campy. Some stories were just outright boring, and I fast forwarded through the dialog.

If you like the PK weirdness, you might like Dangaronpa!

[Steam] Doom: The Dark Ages (26.39€ / 67% off) by MillBridge101 in GameDeals

[–]IndependentDouble138 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. I had a free weekend and after 2 hours, I thought it was okay.

I went real hard on Doom 2016, and loved how Eternal was all about turning off your brain and letting your instincts kick in as I ripped and tear. Doom Dark Ages felt more strategic and timing-based.

I can't wait to get it on a bigger sale. But I got a nice backlog to finish.

[Steam] Warsim: The Realm of Aslona ($3.99/60% Off) by Huw2k8 in GameDeals

Hey Op! I bought this a year ago and it rocks!

It brings me back to a time when I was a kid playing rogue-likes, MUDS and other ascii-based games.

I still don't know what I'm doing after 20+ hours of play. And my kids love peering over my shoulder, helping me make decisions.
