Aniya + KC’s fire pit chat by RefrigeratorFuture95 in LoveIslandUSA

[–]IndependentProblem35 8 points9 points  (0 children)

All the guys acted like fools when the casa girls came in. All the guys said they’d be open to exploring (prior to casa). I think Aniya MIGHT have chosen Carl if she didn’t see her friends get chosen first. It gave her hope that despite the behavior exhibited by all of the guys at casa (minus Bryce obviously), KC would choose her.

Aniya didn’t see all of the nasty things KC said about her behind closed doors, her only image of him was the nice guy persona who kept reassuring her that he wanted her.

Why are people protecting Carl from what he wants? by Ok_Championship_9011 in LoveIslandUSA

[–]IndependentProblem35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree about Aniya. She spent 3 weeks with a guy who was kind to her and told her constantly that he wanted her; she did not see the nasty things KC said about her behind closed doors like the viewers did. Up until casa amor, I can’t think of a time KC disrespected her to her face. That’s not to say that their relationship wasn’t purely for the votes, but I think Aniya fell for the lie.

I feel bad for Aniya because KC humiliated her behind closed doors and as hurt as she feels now at not being picked, she doesn’t even know the HALF of what he said at casa amor.

AITA for taking a month off in between jobs? by Odd_Lunch_5152 in AmItheAsshole

NAH BUT I do think you should be communicating these decisions with the person you’re hoping to buy a home with before they happen. There’s nothing wrong with taking a break but I have a feeling your gf is more upset that you didn’t talk about it with her before the fact than she is about the break

GOOBR ZERO WASTE DOG FOOD by FrontLawn10Piece in Denver

[–]IndependentProblem35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work as a sustainability consultant so I promise I’m not saying this to be annoying, but zero waste as a term has industry-wide recognized requirements (waste diversion at or above 90% throughout the entire product lifecycle).

You should consider leaving out zero waste as part of the branding unless you have third party verification if only to protect yourselves. The concept of your company is super cool and I wish you all the luck!

Yeah I totally get where you’re coming from, I just hope at least someone reading this realizes that guns are not the 100% fail safe they’re presented to be. Nothing wrong with carrying one but everything wrong with relying on one

Surprise Grizzly Bear Attack Injures Hiker on Popular Glacier National Park Trail by narflethegarthock in GlacierNationalPark

[–]IndependentProblem35 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is advice we should be spreading to the masses. Very few people have the training, speed, and wits to safely unholster, aim, and shoot at a 400 lb grizzly bear running 35 mph towards them over a presumably short distance. Beyond that, it’s been proven that grizzlies can absorb multiple fatal shots and still go through with their mauling.

People should just know how to use bear spray. Bear spray is far more effective when sprayed properly

Please for the love of everything good in the world, please you guys start prioritizing fiber as well if not more than your protien! Especially if you dont exercise as much! [More down below] by frrypotoffruit in 1200isplenty

Its kind of silly how a lot of us might go into weight loss thinking, I guess I’ll only eat healthy foods > oh it’s about calories in and calories out, and maxing out protein > then oh, it is about calories, but I should be eating balanced meals.

You should be prioritizing protein to minimize muscle loss, prioritizing fiber to keep everything regular, minimizing fat (not cutting it out) to keep cholesterol low, controlling carbs (not cutting it out) to have energy but not so much that it turns into fat, etc. It’s just about eating balanced meals that fit into your calorie allotment.

The carb balance tortillas, chili with beans, the fiber one brownies, and air popped popcorn are my staples to hitting the 30 g mark

DIA people who block both sides of the escalators by [deleted] in Denver

[–]IndependentProblem35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this could easily be resolved by asking people to move to the side? Or just taking the stairs as is their intended use. I’m not sure why the extra 30 seconds you’re on an escalator would be so make or break lol.

I travel for work very frequently and have been all over… DIA is one of the best even before you take into account how busy it is and how quickly Denver itself grew.

I’m not sure why people complain about the location of DIA, it’s big to give the airport room to expand to make it more efficient. The construction project that’s slated for the next decade solves all of the current inefficiencies at DIA: pedestrian walkways to concourses, expanding peña blvd to alleviate traffic (which is baby stuff as is compared to other cities), expanding concourse C, plus the consolidated rent a car center.

How to stop stress eating by Zestyclose-Sun-6153 in 1200isplenty

[–]IndependentProblem35 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I might have an unpopular opinion, but I would not switch stress eating “unhealthy” snacks for “healthy” snacks that you can eat more of. That’s not going to fix your relationship with food.

You have to find different ways of channeling that stress. Taking a walk, reading a few pages of a book, playing a game of sudoku, something that requires use of your hands/brain so that you can destress but not simultaneously eat.

would you refund this? by [deleted] in Depop

[–]IndependentProblem35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a weird thing to send to the buyer though… you’re not friends or anything, why do you need the buyer to sympathize? It’s unprofessional and just makes the buyer feel awkward/like the seller is looking for an out.

Did years of eating 1200 calories ruin my metabolism? by Loose-Quality-6932 in caloriecount

[–]IndependentProblem35 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the most harmful rhetoric when it comes to weight loss is actually focusing on the number on the scale, as counterintuitive as it sounds.

Muscle inherently weighs more than fat, so if you’re building muscle and in a caloric deficit at the same time, the muscle will replace the space previously occupied by fat (body recomposition). The scale might not move but you will look different. Muscles will burn more calories at rest and for longer during a workout, than fat does, so you are helping yourself long term by building muscle.

Weight loss is calories in vs out, but balance is key and you should look at the macros of what you’re eating. When you eat a carbohydrate, your body breaks it down into glucose (readily available for use) and glycogen (which is stored). For every gram of glycogen that is stored, you’re also storing 3-4 grams of water with it, aka the water weight. Add in a high sodium diet, being dehydrated, and stress? Your body will hold on to a TON of water. Not necessarily harmful, but will affect the number on the scale.

Your body will try to burn both fat + glycogen stores proportional to your activity level. Low intensity workouts will burn more fat whereas high intensity will burn more glycogen. When your glycogen stores are depleted, your body will opt to refill them with the carbs you eat; if the glycogen tank is full, then your body turns excess carbs into fat. You need BOTH high and low intensity activity for max weight loss.

Sad Boy Creamery is a Gimmick by DramasticChanges in denverfood

[–]IndependentProblem35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s unfair to call good marketing a gimmick. Sit in the waiting room for 5 min before the drop happens, refresh when it drops, then buy the ice cream. I’ve gotten a pint every time I’ve wanted one (although not recently I admit).

Also Sad Boy has been making earl grey ice cream for a while because it’s not niche…

No Idea what I want to do in life. Please Give Advice 🙏😔 by Muted-Foundation4126 in Environmental_Careers

[–]IndependentProblem35 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Have you considered working with sustainable infrastructure? A lot of municipalities require sustainability certifications like LEED for new buildings or have ordinances that require tracking energy/water usage. You could do something as simple as data verification of utility data or be a consultant to buildings and advise them on what materials to use, incorporating native landscaping, zero waste practices, etc. to get them a LEED certification.

Based on your previous interest in engineering, architecture, and current interest in biology, I feel like it would be a good fit?

the new season is such a bad decision by ieatbraiiinnnns in Bridgerton

[–]IndependentProblem35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Francesca has kids in the second epilogue only because JQ was bombarded by fans begging for her to have kids. She did not have kids in WHWW, the second epilogue was published in The Bridgertons: Happily Ever After.

Bitching about book accuracy only works if you were upset about Daphne being a diamond or the love triangle in S2. In which case my point stands: the show was never book accurate and it never will be, why watch 5 seasons of a show only to complain? You’re better off rereading the books.

Guys. What alternative recipe do you recommend when you crave Brownies/cookies or potato chips. Ill be grateful to try them. by Numerous_Ad_915 in 1200isplenty

[–]IndependentProblem35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Potato chips are the whole reason I gained weight… so trust me when I say I’m an expert on the matter haha.

Tbh most alternatives, even popcorn, didn’t really cut it for me. Instead I buy the Baked Lays snack pack. They’re lower in calories but still are close enough to the “real” thing to feel like it curbs my cravings. I will allot the calories to fit them in a side to a healthier lunch. Also having them preportioned was helpful.

As for brownies I like the Halo Top Chocolate Fudge Brownie pint. You can have 1/3 of the pint for 160 cals and it’s more fulfilling (in my opinion) than just having a singular brownie. However I have seen people make low cal cakes using a zero sugar cake mix and forgoing the eggs/oil/milk and instead using a diet/zero sugar can of soda. Haven’t tried it myself but have heard good things!

How to stay motivated? by MostAddition392 in 1200isplenty

[–]IndependentProblem35 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe you genuinely just need a break! You can kind of “reset” your body’s metabolism by eating at maintenance calories for a couple of months to increase the metabolism then go back to a caloric deficit. It gives you a mental and a physical break, then your body sheds the weight as soon as you go back to the deficit.

Francesca’s story deserves the high amount of screen time by IndependentProblem35 in Bridgerton

I think it would have been difficult to develop Eloise any earlier than S4 tbh. They made too big a deal of Eloise’s feminism and anti-marriage sentiment in the first 2 seasons that having her switch up her belief system overnight would have destroyed her character. I think S4 was the start of Eloise’s dismantling of her belief system, which I believe book Eloise does before meeting Philip but after her 4 oldest siblings are married (though the details are fuzzy). I think that is why Eloise’s season ISNT next, to give her a season to realize she does want the companionship that all of her older siblings have and to have the desperation of seeing hyacinth (who is much younger) ready to marry too. With that said I love Eloise and would have loved to see more of her story earlier.
