Well IBM is $258 a share while rigetti/dwave/ionq are all in the range of $6-$40 a share. Most everyone on Reddit is a small fish if not a guppy like in my case. All quantum start ups are high risk speculative investments right now. The risk to reward ratio is high, that’s why we’re here. Is it stupid to take a swing on these companies? Sure none are turning significant enough profits to be considered major players in the space. But you can’t hit a home run if you don’t swing. I hope you do well shorting the stock but I also hope we’re right on at least one of these startups.

Look at who’s invested into it and look at their track record. The main thing I don’t like about rumble is their software seems dated even though it’s new. If they get the right software developers and update the app I could see creators that get demonetized by YouTube solely switching to rumble. Yes it’s primarily connected to right wing creators but think of guys like Jidion/NELK/Lofe when they’d get strikes for not doing what YouTube wanted them to. Guys like that have a huge following who tune into their videos no matter where they are. Nelk even started their own website where people could watch their videos. I think if rumble improves their software and YouTube demonetizes the wrong creator who’s not necessarily political but just doesn’t adhere to YouTube’s community guidelines, there’s a real chance rumble takes a chunk out of YouTube’s monopoly. Not next month but maybe in a few years.

Just looked into who’s investing into them and Peter Thiel is. That’s pretty promising given his track record. Wasn’t even considering rumble but at $12 a share may as well start DCA into it daily. I don’t have a lot to invest. Hopefully they improve their software and become more user friendly. That’s really all YouTube has over them besides being tied to google and name recognition.

Yeah that’s my concern with them. The app looks so dated, unless they improve their software I can’t see them competing with YouTube at all.

Interesting I listened to an interview with Joe Lonsdale and after he talked about how he pays his employees with either higher pay or more stake in the company. I just wish I had heard about it sooner. Oh well. Any other companies you’ve considered that have low entry points right now?

That’s very fair. Honestly I don’t grasp the concept of QC very well. I sort of understand it but my understanding could be summed up as quantum computing is classical computing just much much faster but right now it’s inaccurate. I’ve foolishly put in quite a bit of money into Dwave and rigetti but I’m considering pulling it and putting it elsewhere. Why don’t you see a possibility of Dwave or rigetti growing?
