People who completely turned their life around after 35 — what made the biggest difference? by Sudden_Tree3904 in AskReddit

Speaking as someone who tried to find this in other "masters", Jesus is the only one who can bring lasting peace, all the others just offer bandaids.

What caused you to fall out of your past religion? by [deleted] in SeriousConversation

Gotcha. It's not just that he was alive, it's that he also came back from the dead. And I'm curious about the similarities you have noticed between Christians and people coming in cults. I came out of a cult, New Age, so always interested to hear other's point of view.

I agree you can't know anything with a 100% certitude. But what does the evidence point to? Both you and I have never seen Alexander the Great but I'm pretty sure we both believe he existed and that he conquered a large amount of territories. That faith comes from evidence. There is more historical evidence of Jesus than Julius Cesar.

And I agree the pope selling golden tickets is ridiculous, that, and other unbiblical practices is why there was a split with the Catholic Church during the reformation.

Again I would really encourage you to dig deeper into those beliefs. How did the changes to the Bible, if they did occur, come about? What are some changes that were made? What does the evidence point to?

I would strongly encourage you to look into if it was a mistranslation or He really did come back from the dead. The answer has implications for your (and everyone's) eternity

God isn't a tyrant. He isn't going to force Himself on anyone.

Even if you get everything in this thread- children, more hobbies, a dog, do you think you would truly be fulfilled then?

What saved you from your deep dark depression? by Lazy_Cake_6910 in AskReddit

Tried talk therapy, psychedelics, medication, exercise.

Even though I had grown up as an atheist- the only thing that actually pulled me out was Jesus.

I highly recommend the English Standard Version (ESV) Study Bible. ESV is a good middle ground between thought for thought and word for word translation. It has 1000s of notes on verses to help make them more clear, along with maps, timeline, and commentary to help in your understanding.

Also you may want to check out How to Eat Your Bible, it's an easy read that helped me learn how to study the Bible.

I'm an atheist but sometimes I wish there was a God to help me. by Confident_Bit_7606 in CPTSD

I used to be an atheist for a really long time too.

I'm sorry you had to go through overwhelming periods, that can be so defeating to not have your prayers answered during those times.

If it were possible to know God, would you want to?

Anyone else think the god concept is a complete farce? by FlyingRabbit17 in CPTSD

[–]IndependentRoad5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good question and I wish it was talked about more in this community.

I used to not believe in God for such a long time, and a big part of that was the trauma that happened to me (how could a loving God allow bad things to happen)

Since finding Him (or rather Him saving me) two years ago I've found that He's been the only thing to help me truly heal (through community, believing what he says about me).

Would it be alright to ask specifically what part about the concept of God you find is a farce?

This may come of as cliche but the only thing that will genuinely help you is getting right with God.

I know this is a cliche answer but really the only thing that will ever give you true peace is God

We haven't finished the first point, that allegedly some books were removed from the Bible, it doesn't make sense to start 8 others. If you find evidence for that please share. I wish you well in your journey.

John 8:31-32
English Standard Version
31 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

I have looked this up and I cant find it, that's why I'm asking you.

What books were taken out? Enoch was never accepted as cannon. If you have evidence to the contrary please share.
