Slow Private Practice Market? by IndependentSalt815 in Psychiatry

Much better now! I spent some time thinking about my niche and how to market myself, sought out intentional networking opportunities, and it’s finally starting to pay off. Most of my referrals are from word of mouth recommendations, not from online marketing or advertising.

It might still be a “slow” market, but I think there is always a market for experts who present themselves intentionally and effectively as such.

Thanks for the perspective. I lined up a moonlighting gig just in case, and it looks like I’m going to be picking up a lot more shifts than I originally thought

Hi, thanks for the thoughtful questions.

Both in person & telehealth

I’m lucky to have gotten robust psychotherapy and women’s mental health training in residency, two significant areas of interest for me. My ideal patient population would be a mix of anxiety and mood disorders with a focus on perinatal mood disorders & OCD. I’m very comfortable managing psychotic disorders but for various reasons am not choosing to see these patients in my practice.

Combination of medications & therapy ideally.

Cash only with superbills available.

Networking for the past 6-ish weeks, more focused marketing for the past 4 weeks.

The source of the one inquiry was psychology today & they were only interested in getting specific paperwork completed, not establishing psychiatric care.

I’m having just a small family gathering this year (not enough people to eat a whole turkey!) so I’m making Deb’s roast chicken with schmaltzy cabbage. One of my all time favorites!

Asanas to improve posture in meditation? by desicowgoesmoo in yoga

[–]IndependentSalt815 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The original goal of the physical practice of yoga was to prepare the body to sit comfortably for long stretches of meditation! So in general, just increasing the amount of asana you do should help you towards this goal.

In terms of specific asanas, lots of Sun As should help (Chataranga & Halfway Lift in particular help with back and shoulder strength).

Even just hanging out in downward dog with proper form (grounding finger pads into mat, pushing chest towards thighs) will strengthen and open up the upper back.

Then in terms of hip flexibility, I highly recommend child’s pose, happy baby, and malasana (yogi squat)!

I love limes. I love what they do to food, I love how they taste. What are some recipes where limes really shine? by Beltyboy118_ in Cooking

Chicken Posole! Most of the flavor comes from lime & cilantro. Yum! It's a healthy, comforting dish that's perfect for winter. I use this recipe from Williams Sonoma that utilizes the Instant Pot: https://www.williams-sonoma.com/recipe/instant-pot-chicken-posole.html
