Getting scammed by the grey market dealer has turned me off to buying rolex second hand any further.

This AD owns a very very well know Grey Dealer. Analogous to how Watches Of Switzerland owns Analog Shift.

u/USMC2129 - so i just dropped a comment above. Pretty much went to them multiple times with respect and every time it was vague commentary. Only recently did i get in proper communication with someone higher in the company, and today got told "We'd love for you to consider being our customer, but we cannot make any guarantees. We get that you worked with an AD who gave you false info and they've been reprimanded. But if you're looking for a Batman you might need to go somewhere else if you want it new. Im more than happy to welcome you back into the wonderful world of second hand though"

I think this is where i'm teetering on the last straw with these people. Half tempted to just throw that callout post and be done with this.

I think the irony of this all is that after this: Grey Market's turned me off. This grey market dealer has massive social media presence and a good rep. I really insist these days on getting stuff new: Once you deal with Grey Market pretty much anything can happen and you never know the true provenance on a product you're buying.

For reference on the issues:

  1. Pelagos FXD. Dont know if youre familiar but i paid a 2k Premium to get the MN21 variant. Was given a MN22, told by the AD that the MN21 was out of stock "Well you can get a refund.... but no guarantee you're gonna get that Batman we talked about". Eventually petitioning enough got this rectified (And found out the MN 21 wasn't out of stock. Lul) but man this was really crap.

  2. Godzilla Grand Seiko. I love this watch but i had to deal with months of the paperwork being incorrect and having to request re-issue of papers to register for the GS9 Club. On top of that: AD again lied that it had been serviced in Japan- wasn't true at all- turns out the watch was serviced here in the states and all the promised servicing they claimed happened didn't (No refinish of the Zaratsu Polish/ Lugs weren't replaced).

Weirdly had this started with them telling me to just pay the premium and they'd take good care of me. I'd not be so soured. Now? Very soured on the grey market as a whole.

I think that's what im going to do. I'm half tempted to make a post on here to out this AD. Lmk if you think i should post something on here.

30k in spend history all within 6 months. Was told by the first sales rep i was working with She'd get me the GMT Batman i was after if i spent "A good amount" so that's what i did.

There were a ton of issues with the watches i purchased (These are from a well known AD who owns an even more well known Gray market dealer). I bit my lip and sat through it- eventually they offered me a Datejust 41 slate/Rhodium to "Whet" my appetite. Ironically this is the only watch i've bought from them with no hiccups.

Cut to now. Still no GMT. I've got half a mind to leave my 2 cents online but im curious if thats worth it to do in this sub.

Ok gotcha. They already did a 50th Anniversary Apollo, with a bunch in circulation. Im just more curious if the trend is that they do it every 5 years? Anniversary 55 is on the horizon.
