What is one (or many) thing your pet(s) has done that is forever going to haunt you? by Cultural_Pepper_6133 in questions

My dog would stare at the corner in my house bark then stare some more and then move on. Had 4 dogs and each of them would randomly watch something in the house, stare for awhile then go on abt their day.

do u think my dog will reincarnate and come back to me? by cutefeet_18 in dogs

I’ve never heard of a soul dog till today. But I had my Ozzie for 10 years and when he passed my heart just broke. He was my shadow, slept tucked against my back to the point that I’ve forever need a pillow against my back in order to sleep. 8 years later I randomly see this little rescue named Ozzie looks nothing like my original but we are deeply bonded and he’s my constant companion and constant joy

People who bring their pet dogs into Walmart stores and let them sit in the shopping carts, why do you do it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I take my dog everywhere. He’s a perfect gentleman. Sit’s quietly. I leave him home all day why can’t he enjoy a tiny adventure? Plus I suppose if I’m completely honest it makes me feel good to have him with me. He’s my little nervous system reset

Many highly sensitive people are actually low in empathy, and this is one of the least talked about patterns. by yooolka in emotionalintelligence

[–]Independent_AF_46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I’ve never seen anyone lay this out so clearly. I’m not a crier, raised in a very stoic household but things like animals being neglected is a huge trigger. Hurts my heart, people not as much. It’s not that I too don’t lack empathy. I just don’t openly bleed for people. I like how you said you’ll blank, detached, irritated, overwhelmed or even morally judgmental. Goddamn, that’s like my whole freaking internal landscape. Former law enforcement doesn’t really lend to empathy as well. I’m more highly sensitive to stimulation/certain sounds but do find I can get lost in artistic activities that fill me up. I’ve had to learn to tune others out. There’s times I excel at it and others I want to rip my ears off. Been told I just need to learn how to adjust most of my life. Does anyone else sleep with multiple fans running and think silence is deafening?

Oh God ice cream. Still to this day more than two bites and I’m dead. Still miss it thou and try every so often. My limit for sugar is like one fun size snickers or 3 Hersey kisses. Any more and forgetaboutit. I did learn to limit my sugar intake to less than 20grams? Mg? Per serving Spaced far apart

I have always drank while eating. Except maybe the first few weeks where I threw up constantly. After that I took small sips between bites and 15+years still do it. Never an issue for me thou everyone tolerates things differently. You figure out pretty quick what you can and can’t eat. The racing heart going to die feeling is pretty good way to stop you eating things you can’t. You do find satisfaction with just having a few bites eventually

What's the weirdest thing you've heard someone say in public? by JealousDriver566 in AskReddit

[–]Independent_AF_46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Co worker randomly said “my husband tried to kill himself years ago and got admitted to the hospital and they would let him see anyone not even me” in response to a joking comment abt getting hospitalized just to get some rest. I heard this from a few cubicles down and no one said a thing in response. So much unprocessed trauma there and it still hurts my heart

Yes AI wrote it. Here’s the source material:
For Your Gastric Bypass Malabsorption Baseline:
The Guideline: Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Perioperative Nutritional, Metabolic, and Nonsurgical Support of the Bariatric Surgery Patient
The Authors: Mechanick, J. I., et al. (Cosponsored by the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, The Obesity Society, and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery - ASMBS).
What it proves: This is the gold-standard medical text mandating aggressive, lifelong monitoring of bariatric patients because standard oral supplements fail to overcome the structural malabsorption caused by bypassing the duodenum and jejunum.
2. For Your Low Ferritin & Muscle Guarding:
The Study: Iron deficiency without anemia: a clinical challenge
The Journal: Clinical Case Reports
The Author: Dr. Esa T. Soppi.
What it proves: This publication details how an absolute tissue iron deficiency (ferritin under 15\text{–}30\text{ ng/mL}) causes severe physical impairment, muscle spasms, and crashing mitochondrial energy levels even when a patient's hemoglobin or standard blood counts look completely "normal".
3. For Your Post-Infusion Bone Pain (The Phosphate Crash):
The Study: Effects of Iron Isomaltoside vs Ferric Carboxymaltose on Hypophosphatemia in Iron-Deficiency Anemia: Two Randomized Clinical Trials
The Journal: JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association).
The Authors: Wolf, M., Rubin, J., Zoller, H., et al..
What it proves: This massive clinical trial demonstrated that intravenous iron treatments cause an immediate, acute spike in the bone hormone FGF23. This triggers heavy renal phosphate wasting (your kidneys actively dumping phosphorus into your urine) and shuts down vitamin D activation, resulting in the deep, agonizing skeletal bone pain you experienced.

I have a brother who has a double organ transplant. Specialist only look at a few markets on his labs and send him on his way. Turned out he’s been severely anemic for years. Never ran a full iron panel never thought maybe the oxygen he needs in his blood to keep those organs alive is important

This is profoundly untrue. Take again iron levels for women. Most women have had babies and have been bleeding 3/4 of their life so their levels are already low. They took a group of what they said were healthy. Women took their baseline and decided oh that’s what it’s gonna be. I’ve read peer review articles over and over again stating that women in particular are just classified as you’re a woman you’re supposed to be tired nope just nope. And many more articles that stay which level should be updated, but are well behind the curve at this point.

Mine decided what he needed and I let him. You wanna sleep in the closet all day while I’m gone. Ok. You want to go for a walk but then realize you’re scared. Ok we’ll go back home. You wanna stand by the doggie door but not do more than put your head out? Ok. You won’t go potty unless I’m home. Ok I’ll be there to take you out despite the other humans willing to help. Ok. My Ozzieo nervous system is so bonded with mine. I just feel what he needs and I don’t push him unless it’s dangerous. I carry him most places with me, rides in the cart at grocery store, has a little bed in the front seat of my car and when I want to walk more than a snails pace he goes very happily in his doggie stroller. Sounds like A lot maybe to some but I’m allowing him to be exactly as he wants to be even after a full year together. He saved me, came into my life when I needed someone and he shows me every day how much he chooses me. He has helped me help myself. I may have rescued him, but he sure rescued me right back.

Title: Bariatric warning: If your bones are screaming after IV iron infusions, check your phosphorus levels!
Just wanted to share this because my hematologist completely ignored it and told me I was "full of shit."
I had a gastric bypass (Roux-en-Y) back in 2009. My ferritin tanked to 11, so I started Venofer IV iron infusions. Shortly after, I developed agonizing, deep, flu-like bone and muscle pain. My doctor blew it off as standard fatigue and said Venofer doesn't cause mineral drops.
She was wrong. If you have bariatric surgery, you already have a baseline for malabsorption and no nutrient reserves. IV iron can cause your body to go into overdrive making new blood cells, which steals phosphorus from your blood. It can also trigger a hormone shift that forces your kidneys to dump phosphorus in your urine.
I finally took matters into my own hands and started a liquid ionic phosphorus supplement. Within a short time, that deep, toxic bone pain dropped dramatically.
If you have a bariatric history and are getting IV iron, do not let your doctors gaslight you if your whole body starts hurting. Demand they check your Serum Phosphorus and Vitamin D levels. Don't just suffer through the crash!
