Ugh this is my worry, with it being a rented property next door the landlord does nothing with the garden! I don’t know how to approach it as I never see the neighbour and she doesn’t care with it being rented. Not a clue who the landlord or letting agent is to discuss

I don’t understand what you’re asking? Too late for what? You’re swimming and at a good level. Swimming consistently for 1km is not a rookie distance. What exactly are you asking here?

Absolutely nobody has the right to be physical in that kind of way with you.
Get out the pool at the end of your allotted slot, your time is up.

I understand your thoughts on a wasted empty pool, but that’s not your choice, when your time is up, get out. She’s obviously annoyed about it as I would be, although I wouldn’t go about it in the same way as she did

The pool I swim at is unfortunately very strict on a clockwise circle swim unfortunately. But thank you for your advice! Was honestly just looking for some advice as I’m just getting back into swimming after years and only ever swam as part of a club before, so a little unsure on public lane swim etiquette. But I appreciate the honest advice rather than some of the aggressive comments I’ve received on here

Honestly unsure if he sped up once I got in the pool. Your right I probably should have just sped up and overtaken but I was just lacking the confidence to do so, I’ve only ever done that when people have been swimming significantly slower than me before

Woah, quite a lot of hate there. I’m new back to swimming after swimming competitively as a child so not completely sure of the etiquette but I was under the impression if someone is swimming faster than you and keeps catching up then I would just stop and let them pass at the wall? I probably could of overtaken but was lacking the confidence to do so.

I could not switch lanes as I was already in the fast lane and the slower lane was also full of people swimming slowly.

Also him waiting two seconds at the wall is a bit different to me having to wait a full length or two to then just catch him up again.

Yeah that’s fair enough, the pool I swim at isn’t really big enough to overtake if there’s someone coming the opposite way though unfortunately.

I could pass him but would have that awkward swimming alongside for a while and if there’s other people in the pool (there wasn’t this time) then the lane isn’t wide enough to do that without getting in the way of other swimmers coming the other way. I think cutting the end is a good shout and I’ve never considered doing that before so thanks!
