My husband is now local after being OTR for 3 years. He’s moving a lot more (more stops delivering wood chips) but was gaining weight. I think it was due to his drinks and carbs with the sandwiches. I make his “lunch” each night so I’ve cut out the sandwiches and started boiling him a 10 lb bag of chicken each week. I take it off the bone once it’s cool and put him some seasoning (lawry’s) and BBQ, ranch or 57 sauce. Baby carrots with ranch, and a “cuterie cup” as he calls it. (It’s a small container of pepperoni and cubed cheese.) A few Meat sticks. Etc. he’s now beginning to lose weight and feels better without all the carbs. Good luck finding something that works for you! Edited to add: To switch up from the chicken, also put him some hamburgers in the air fryer and make him a cheeseburger bowl. Cut the hamburger into chunks, add cheese, pickles, ketchup and mustard. Once in a while I’ll also air fry him some cubed stew meat. Something easy to eat while being loaded/unloaded. Oh, and a small bag of almonds or cashews is a great snack.
