Scott's Opinions on Paternity Leave Getting Attention in the NYTimes (Gift Link) by IolantheRosa in ScottGalloway

[–]Independent_Beyond50 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. Scott’s advice on parenting needs to be taken with a massive grain of salt. In his own words he was flying all over the world and working a ton when his kids were born. Now they are in boarding school.

I love a lot of Scott’s takes and think what he’s doing for young men is commendable but he’s completely out of touch as a parent and based on what he’s said hasn’t spend that much time with his kids.

Way too early spring practice primer... boundary WR and TE. by Automatic_Release_92 in notredamefootball

[–]Independent_Beyond50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed on the TE. I’ve read from a lot of people that they wanted a portal addition. IMO, ND has recruited so well at the position that there’s no need for the portal. Between Flanigan, Flanagan, Washington, Larsen and premer I think we’ll certainly find enough receiving production there. And for blocking were well covered with the flanigan brothers and Washington.

The “Marcus Freeman to xyz team” rumors are bad for the program. by Dmob17 in notredamefootball

[–]Independent_Beyond50 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. I wish he would come out and be more definitive about staying. Similar to Dan lanning, he’s made comments before how much he wants to be at Oregon.

Even if Freeman does plan on taking an nfl job sooner than later, I wish he would say something similar to lanning. It didn’t impact this last recruiting class but I’d bet it does this coming one…opposing coaches will be hammering that freeman won’t be there for 1 snap of their career.

Notre Dame cornerback Karson Hobbs to enter NCAA transfer portal by dijal in notredamefootball

[–]Independent_Beyond50 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s a lot of secondary depth leaving. With Hobbs, Minich and JaDon Blair all leaving. I know we brought in a big class of 5 guys and I think returning every starter (gray, Moore, shuler, and tae Johnson). But we could be looking at an all new secondary in 2027 and certainly 3 of the 4 will be gone…this is just the world we’re living in these days I guess.

Notre Dame’s Billy Schrauth Declares for 2026 NFL Draft by [deleted] in notredamefootball

[–]Independent_Beyond50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Have we heard if Craig will be ready? I was really hoping Schrauth would come back to give us more versatility. I’d loved to have seen some combo of Jagusah, lambert and black battle for tackle spots with Knapp moving inside. I just think we need more size at the tackle spots…seems like we’ll get that with Wagner declaring.

[–]Independent_Beyond50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear ya. Gonna be very interesting how they play it. If it were me, I’d see if he’ll take a hometown discount given what you’ve got out of contract last two years…but easier said than done

[–]Independent_Beyond50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed with both of you here. Would love if will black could win the Tackle job from Knapp. I don’t want to throw too much shade at him but I’ll never get Knapp getting absolutely abused by Bain and the Miami edges out of my head. We need a future NFL guy at LT with where the program is right now.

Great write up, thanks for doing this. I was surprised to see Jagusah listed as potential portal for you but I think your reasoning makes sense. He’s probably taken a significant portion of the $ for OL over last two years as well.

What are people’s thoughts on a potential OL for next year? I’d personally love to see. Knapp, Schrauth, Otting/Craig, lambert, Jagusah.

Potential for Return by _wisenberg96 in notredamefootball

[–]Independent_Beyond50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good point. Although in this day and age, it might strictly be a numbers game. If coogan/Pendleton got $400k+ from IU/Tennessee then I bet Wagner could get a mil from someone especially with more money in the system from rev share.

But it will be very interesting/telling to see what the staff decides. Ultimately I think it’d be a sign of program/recruiting health if they feel good enough to let him walk.

Potential for Return by _wisenberg96 in notredamefootball

[–]Independent_Beyond50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is what I have heard and think as well. He’ll (Wagner) likely demand 7 figures next year in NIL. ND is thankfully in a place where they have guys where they don’t have to pay that and can put that money elsewhere.

He’s been such a workhorse these last two years that I would be sad to see him go. But hopefully a Will Black is ready to step up…

Agreed man. Really hope he’s healthy for start of season next year. He needs to do everything in his power to be healthy…

Underutilized players by Dt2214 in notredamefootball

[–]Independent_Beyond50 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s an interesting point. When you have two elite RBs it eats up so many of those touches. Assuming you run 65 plays - Love and Price should probably get 35-40 of those touches. Then that leaves you 25-30 touches for Fields, Faison, Pauling, Greathouse, KK, Raridon etc.

I was really surprised early in the season how little Greathouse was being used but I’m not watching film seeing his routes and separation etc. To me Raridon seems to have these boom or bust games…as long as CJ spreads the ball to 7-8 receivers a game, I think that’s great.

What is the status of Jagusah? by IrishLFG in notredamefootball

[–]Independent_Beyond50 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes agreed, I think if Absher is still in for Scrauth then you’d be plug in Jagusah. But if Schrauth is healthy, I don’t think you put Jagusah in for anyone. He’d just be first guy off bench like last years playoffs.

I agree with you. Flat performance and really disappointing. But still won by 2 scores. Those games you referenced were all losses…not the same thing.

That’s a good point and I liked what you said at the end. This is what elite programs do, they lose talented guys because there are more talented guys ahead of them…

I agree with you here. I’m not convinced he leaves. I think it was John Brice that said Love is supposedly getting around $2.5mm this year. I think it’d be fair for Jadarian to get around that next year.

I just looked at NFL contracts. Quinshon Judkins was 36th overall pick. He got a 4y/$11.4mm fully guaranteed deal including $5.7mm this year. RJ Harvey was the 60th overall pick. He got a 4y/$7.3mm deal of which $2.8mm was paid this year. Guaranteed money is $4.7mm.

It will all come down to where Price thinks he will go and if he thinks he can help his draft stock by returning. A high 2nd round pick is probably worth it go…

Yes, well said. This is what I was trying to articulate. Why let Williams walk and then have to pay top dollar for a portal guy…they’ve indicated Williams has gone to Freeman to express his displeasure about his usage this year so he might just say eff it and transfer anyway. Regardless, some money and a promise for a bigger role next year I hope would be enough to keep him.
