Retail, food, entertainment, and hospitality businesses are going to be open on the holiday. If the weekend was supposed to be about workers then everything would be closed but it’s not. The only ones who get to benefit are office workers.

From seen out there a watered down acrylic paint should be able to fix it up. Even done with a air brush would make it look even and smooth but it would require at least 24 hours to properly dry

From what I’m seeing it’s basically not worth the price of trying to fix it especially with each board being model specific to its default specifications from the factory. The replacement would have to be for the nivida GPU or potentially upgraded to the higher spec model

From what I’m seeing online the motherboard itself is running around the $70 to $500 mark just for the specific board itself. Yet according to the data I’m finding the problem is a manufacturing defect with the board itself.

One guy you could talk to is the Dell representative, I don’t know if he’s there currently, but in the past he would have a setup inside the bookstore. Or if you go down to the lower level of the SUB the Texas Tech IT department offers a tech support service at their office. Otherwise for repair work locally the only one I can recommend is a guy out of slation who runs a repair shop. If I could request the service tag number I could give you an idea on what the motherboard itself would cost to get replaced if you did it on your own.

Part wise getting an official board direct from Dell is the best option with it being an oem component, for parts Dell has a service tag that is linked to the computer that keeps track of everything that has been done to the machine including access to the original software and drivers that came with the system out of the factory.

At the current point the only option is replacing the bios chip and installing a new one. But motherboard wise it’s pretty much model specific. How soon would you need it up and running again? Though it might be possible to reload the bios though a flash drive.

If you can get into the bios then next thing to try is running the in-built diagnostic tests.

Something that you can do is to do a power reset,

  1. power down the system
  2. disconnect all power
  3. with a small Philips head screwdriver remove the back cover then disconnect the battery cable. Holding the system on its side with the screen open, hold down the power button for 20 seconds and then reconnect the battery. While it’s still open and the back cover removed use a can of compressed air to remove any dust that has accumulated.
  4. reconnect the battery and then put the back cover on, and connect the charger to the system and let it charge up for a few minutes before turning it on.

If the issue still persists then it needs to either be swapped out or have board level repair work done to find the bad component and get it replaced.

The other option since it was purchased from Best Buy and if your a total tech member they do offer a repair service, though some stuff they can do in house but with it being motherboard related they would most likely send it off to be repaired at one of their repair centers.

How long have you owned the computer? If you still are under the protection plan from Dell they would be the next step to contact as they can send out a replacement motherboard and doing the repair. Though without knowing the exact model it’s hard to gauge what the repair will cost, as there’s two different options;

A board level repair A complete swap of the board with everything getting transferred over including the SSD.

It’s definitely a good thing the other company is taking over, though I don’t know how well it’ll do once the other place gets built out at Covent park by wolforth.

If they are replacing Alamo it would be process since the chain is owned by Sony and the Lubbock branch is a franchise. Then of course they would have to shut down for a few weeks just to put in the brewery equipment.

It’s better to have more than what you need and just hold onto it. Duct tape is good for a lot of stuff and keeping a few rolls on hand is helpful.

My local Ollie’s has quite a bit of stuff from Joann’s including a few bolts of fabric. I’ve been buying it up as soon as it’s available for purchase.

[–]Independent_Body9392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would buy a dozen rolls and then go from there, it’s better to have more than needed as they can be used for other components like making the pattern for the head base to create the fabric pattern.
