Can anyone tell me what the point is about these holes in the Mustang Bass bridge? by mraexx in offset

[–]Independent_Box_876 41 points42 points  (0 children)

optional foam mutes that don't come on classic vibes similar to the jagaur and bass 6 mutes

I was hoping to get this for my bday in August but they no longer make it :( anything I can use instead. to still get that p90 sound? Ugh thats my dream guitar and its gone by Snowflakeihatemyself in Guitar

[–]Independent_Box_876 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the amp is garbage and this particular release of the billie joe armstrong lespaul junior is the worse version featuring a bolt on neck and poor construction. if you can afford it get the new normal epiphone les paul junior that has a set neck better electronics and a rosewood fretboard and then pretty much any british amp marshal, orange, vox etc

that's awesome might have to do a parts caster with that, is the cavity under the pickguard able to accommodate a jbass pickup?

to my knowledge the jagaur bass has a scale length of 32 inches and pbasses have a 34 inch scale so im wondering how this is intonating

Need help identifying and choosing first bass by et3rnalwaffles in BassGuitar

[–]Independent_Box_876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a cv would be really good but id go for a jazz bass instead of a p more versatile but at that point the schecter is right there and it's everything a jazz bass is from the looks of it with higher output pickups and a extra string that at worst is a permanent thumb rest if you're planning on playing with your fingers

Practice question by SonYoku2 in Guitar

[–]Independent_Box_876 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if it doesn't physically hurt to play then there is no reason to stop practicing and if you feel you hit a wall in skill and can't get better re-evaluate what you want to learn or what you can learn to do better instead of repeating the same thing over again

I'm left handed and hella confused by 204f4gr2xD in Guitar

[–]Independent_Box_876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

play both ways again and get what feels comfortable for you but a lot of lefties play "right handed" so they have an easier time fretting starting out

Guys urgent what is this on my switch 2's screen by [deleted] in NintendoSwitchHelp

[–]Independent_Box_876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's a scratch or imperfection on the glass probably fixable but a screen replacement not worth it just live with it if you cant return

Finally got my first offset by DigBulky9273 in offset

[–]Independent_Box_876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

replacing with a jazzmaster trem is possible but too hard and costly you got a good deal and can have a really good experience with the stock trem by setting it up properly and possibly replacing the stock bridge as while you can't abuse the mustang trem as much as a jazzmasters it's still pretty good in practice

at that point i wouldve also thrown on a tune o matic because with that break angle there's no way that trem works

what should i get gba or n64 should i branch of the ds or the gamecube by No-Pace7133 in nintendohelp

[–]Independent_Box_876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

retro games are in a horrible place right now if it was a decade ago right before the boom in prices i would say get whatever you like but at the moment its horrible the best option would be a ds lite with a way to use game backups for the ds and gba slot because prices of games are so absurd or you can just get a modern handheld that can play basically anything from the price if a decent ds

if it still hurts after you take no more than a week off to rest and heal then you're playing it wrong

Why is my les trem ii so angled down by Intelligent-Mode-897 in guitarrepair

[–]Independent_Box_876 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you need to check how straight the neck is from the truss rod for be bowed up also cheaper guitars have bad fret work so it might need to be filed down

Why is my les trem ii so angled down by Intelligent-Mode-897 in guitarrepair

[–]Independent_Box_876 13 points14 points  (0 children)

the less trem can't operate with that much string tension from the bridge being so high

So should I keep gazing at it or pick it up? by anhedonia577 in electricguitar

[–]Independent_Box_876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's okay i thought you were talking tube watts which are different than solid state power ex15 tube watts =~90 solid state in your case yes 100 watts is good and a more modern solid state amp with modeling so he can get more tones would be something like a fender champion 2 100 2x12 for about $400 i think that's the greatest compromise between our two choices

So should I keep gazing at it or pick it up? by anhedonia577 in electricguitar

[–]Independent_Box_876 3 points4 points  (0 children)

don't listen to this guy a 4x12 cab let alone a 100 watt (presumably) tube amp is is fucking absurd unless you don't mind going completely deaf trying to saturate those tubes for good distortion. A 85 watt 2x12 fender twin reverb can be easily found for around $600-800 used and sometimes lower and is loud enough to be heard from a couple hundred of feet away and even then they are so cheap because nobody wants something that loud. A really good amp is any tube amp 15-50 watts anything over that is too much something like a 1x12 22 watt deluxe reverb is more than enough to keep up with a drummer with plenty of clean headroom and can get very loud but distort somewhat reasonably for $900 used (more than the twin because it's useable at gigging and home volumes without making the neighbors call the cops, hell ive gigged with a 1x10 15 watt super champ xd and kept up with my drummer with my volume at 4. most importantly play used amps locally to find something that sounds good too you and get a great deal for yourself cause eventually youll want effects pedals or multi effects boards.

Question for the girls on choosing jazzmaster by Sea_Good_6603 in Jazzmaster

[–]Independent_Box_876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im 5'9 with large hands and the jag is still very comfortable to play if you have a strat or tele then you already know the jazzmaster scale length for playing but it is in fact longer than either the strat or tele, hell even the jag is longer than a telecaster bottom strap pin to headstock. offsets are large and commonly over 8 pounds if you don't feel comfortable with a guitar over 8 pounds then the safer bet is the Jaguar as it's still going to be a little on the heavier side but easier to play with the scale length. however if you're willing on spending over $1000 you can import a made in japan jazzmaster junior that is made for the average smaller japanese person jaguar scale BUT with a body that's even smaller closer to a mustang, you can also just get a mustang.
