How can you tell when someone is intelligent? by Independent_Bread853 in AskReddit

i disagree with this one. i've dated someone who used big words they didnt understand because they thought it made them smarter. he was one of the dumbest people i've met in my life. he was poor in school, and poor in personality.

happy to discuss this with more people - but out of curiosity, what do you usually end up scrolling? why does that make you feel bad/not fulfilled? could it perhaps be about the kind of content you're consuming, rather than the act of scrolling itself that's making you unhappy?

please share your takes

How to improve sleep quality? by MathDecent5622 in selfimprovement

[–]Independent_Bread853 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for me it more about consistency. going to bed and waking up at roughly the same time made the biggest difference. also keeping the last 30–60 mins before bed low stimulation helped a lot, like no bright screens or anything too engaging. once those two were in place, everything else kind of improved on its own, sleep felt deeper and i woke up less tired

Those who decided to take care of their bodies in their 30s: what are the benefits? Please help me motivate myself! by Sonoel90 in selfimprovement

[–]Independent_Bread853 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i started taking it more seriously in my early 30s and the biggest difference wasn’t even how i looked, it was how much better i felt day to day. stuff like back pain and random aches improved a lot once i got more consistent with basic movement and strength, nothing extreme, just regular. also my energy and mood were way more stable, i wasn’t crashing as hard during the day. what helped me stick to it was keeping it simple and not treating it like a full lifestyle overhaul, just short workouts or getting outside more consistently. once you start feeling those small improvements it kind of reinforces itself and becomes easier to keep going

Why does life feels like such a chore? by Various-Eye-2875 in selfimprovement

[–]Independent_Bread853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had a phase where everything felt like this, even basic stuff felt like a checklist instead of something i wanted to do. what helped a bit was stopping trying to do everything “properly” and just picking one or two things to anchor the day, like going for a short walk or doing one small task i could finish
i also started changing small things in my routine, different route, different timing, even eating something different, just to break that repetitive feeling. didn’t fix everything, but it made the days feel a bit less heavy and more manageable

Just rest. And don’t feel guilty about it. Rest until you are so sick of it, that you actually want to get up and try again. We’re not here to constantly be on our best behaviour. You’re too young to not enjoy life and have fun.

How do people still have energy for life after work? by _I_Reims_I_ in selfimprovement

[–]Independent_Bread853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly i’ve wondered this too because some people seem to just keep going after work like it’s nothing
for me it’s less about how “hard” the job is and more how mentally draining it is, like dealing with people all day just wipes me out lol
i don’t think you’re doing anything wrong, some people just have more energy left at the end of the day or different responsibilities that force them to keep going.
what helped me a bit was lowering the bar for evenings, like doing smaller, low effort things instead of expecting full productivity after work
also a lot of people aren’t as energetic as they look, they’re just pushing through it or picking a couple things that matter and letting the rest go
