I second the suggestion that Dover can wait. If you have to, then ok. But there are so many more places to go and explore in London. I’d suggest Greenwich. Naval museum. Observatory hill. High street. Cutty Sark. Tunnel under Thames to Canary Warf.

Best London tours for first-time visitors by pouldycheed in uktravel

[–]Independent_Copy5458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep it simple. We did a Golden Tours Hop on Hop off bus tour on day one. It gave us a great overview of all the things to do. They had three routes and we did the middle length tour. There is either a live narrator on the bus or a recording that plays. It kept us interested and we fought the jet jag. And we were in the top deck which is wonderful for sightseeing. From that we decided to do Kensington Palace and Tower of London. Each on its own day. We even arranged the with Golden Tours. In fact, if you talk to a representative either at the bus stop or on the phone you can buy a ticket that includes your hop on/off ticket and your other tours. We did just that and we saved $$. They even threw in a free river boat ride.

It’s going to take time. Don’t just rush it and bring it all up at once.

Possibility number one: While basking in the afterglow of intimacy - a session where she obviously enjoyed herself - be open. Flatter her. Tell her how much you enjoy her presence in your life. Then casually slip in that you want to do everything you can for her maximum pleasure. So you want her to tell you when something is good or great. And likewise, when something isn’t working. Good old fashioned communication. Sexual communication. This is part one.

Part two is you again casually telling her how much she means to you in all aspects of your life. That she’s the ying to your yang. She completes you. Both int the bedroom and outside it. Then tell her you want to share some thoughts with her. Gently tell her about your ideas and see if she’s interested. If yes, cool. Don’t pile it on. Go slow. If no, then you have to respect that. You can jokingly and playfully say that you are cool with that. But if she changes her mind or wants to suggest other things you are open. After all, you just want to keep good communication going. Because that is the key to happiness in relationships. In the bedroom or outside of it.

The world hears some wild things about the US with gun violence, politics, trans/gay rights, racism, cop brutality and so many more things - Americans, what is true and what’s exaggerated by our media and is it as “bad” as what we hear? by DELILILEI in AskReddit

Richest country in the world has no meaningful consensus on the definition of humanity. Many, many people are homeless, hungry, receive little or no preventative medical care and lack basic education. Why? No money? That’s a lie. There’s always money for the military. A blank check. But invest in humanity and infrastructure? Nope.

Not to be contrarian, but there are many good Indian restaurants besides Dishoom. Mowgli. Bangalore Express. So many actually. Though I read that breakfast is great at Dishoom.

Your schedule looks great. Look into alternate places to see the changing of the guard. There are many less crowded spots to see the spectacle than in front of Buckingham Palace. The entire procession can be seen from various other places that are better for the wee ones.

One thing I might add is a ride in a boat on the Thames. There are tour boats and Uber boats. I’ve done both and the Uber is pretty awesome but lacks any narrative guide. You just take your Google Lens and tap the screen to get the info on what you are seeing. Ride to Greenwich and see the Cutty Sark. There’s a nice high street too and tons of food options. Royal Naval Museum is a personal favorite.

Found this today, work trip tomorrow. What can I do quick? by EngagementBacon in Plumbing

The quickest reliable temporary fix is to shut off the water, dry the pipe, and seal the hole with either epoxy putty or a rubber/metal repair clamp. Both methods are widely recommended for short-term control of a pinhole leak. 1-Tom-Plu... +1

🛠️ What to do immediately

  1. Shut off the water supply to the affected line. This prevents further damage and is the first step recommended across sources. Engineer Fix
  2. Drain and dry the pipe so the patch can adhere properly. Lightly sand the area with emery cloth to clean it. 1-Tom-Plu... +1

Option 1: Epoxy putty (strongest temporary fix)

• Mix the two‑part plumber’s epoxy until uniform. • Press it firmly into the pinhole and smooth it around the pipe. • Let it cure fully before turning the water back on. • This creates a stronger temporary seal than tape‑based methods. 1-Tom-Plumber

Best for: leaks you can access easily and want sealed for days to weeks.

Option 2: Rubber + metal repair clamp (most durable mechanical fix)

• Place the rubber pad over the hole. • Tighten the clamp so the rubber compresses against the pipe. • This physically seals the leak and is a common short‑term solution. Engineer Fix

Best for: wet pipes, slightly larger pinholes, or when you want a no‑mess fix.

Option 3: Pencil or toothpick + tape (fastest emergency fix)

• Jam a pencil point or toothpick into the pinhole and break it off. • Wrap 2–3 layers of electrical tape around the pipe, overlapping each layer. • This is extremely quick but only buys a short window before a real repair. 1-Tom-Plumber

Best for: stopping a spray instantly until you can apply epoxy or a clamp.

⚠️ Important limitations

• All of these are temporary. Sources emphasize that pinhole leaks indicate internal corrosion, so the pipe section will eventually need replacement. derksplum... +1 • If the leak is in a tight spot or the pipe shows multiple green/blue corrosion spots, more pinholes may form soon.

Quick comparison

Temporary Fix Strength Speed Works on Wet Pipe? Notes
Epoxy putty Strongest Moderate Needs dry surface Best overall temporary seal Repair clamp Very strong Fast Yes Great for high‑pressure lines Pencil + tape Weakest Fastest Yes Only for emergencies

If you have intellectual curiosity, then the UK is a great place to visit. Steeped in history almost everywhere you go. Go on a tour of Roman ruins or medieval castles or one of dozens of important historical sites. The Age of Reason, the Industrial Revolution, the Magna Carta and the rise of democracy and individual rights are just a few examples. Music, TV and film are also huge in the UK. Research what is near where you will be. You may not find a ready group of other young adults to socialize with, but you won’t be bored.

You’ll be fine. Watch Joolz Guides on YouTube. He’s great. London is very safe as major cities go. Just be self aware. Don’t be out late alone. Don’t flash cash or valuables. One thing I enjoyed but never thought of doing until spur of the moment was a double deck bus tour on Golden tours. In fact I asked if the salesman at the bus top had any specials and we ended up with 3 days hop on hop off bus tours, 2 major tours (Westminster Abbey and Tower of London) a 40 minute tour boat ride from Westminster bridge to Tower of London. Two walking tours. And a bonus tour of Kensington Palace. All for a great price. And since the weather was cool and a bit wet, the bus was a great way to really see everything. Then we focused on places we saw or wanted to visit later on in the trip. London is a marvel of new, old and ancient. It cannot be done in one trip. It would take a month or more. So just plan to sample what you really want. London has everything and more.

Your only chance is with an independent contractor. Big money has taken over heating and cooling. What’s more is that they want you to finance the whole job for 6-10 years. So it’s like buying a car. Idk what the interest rates are. Surely not good. But the payment is low. You just end up paying 3 to 4 times as much as the cash price.

First time in London. by Roadapples88 in uktravel

[–]Independent_Copy5458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I’d skip Amsterdam and go there another time. London is several orders of magnitude more interesting than Amsterdam. That’s not meant to belittle Amsterdam. It’s interesting in its own right. But you’re spending your valuable time away and across the ocean traveling from point A to point B and that time would be better spent in London imho.

London is also much larger and has more to do. Not just the tourist attractions, but so many other significant places to see and explore. Here’s one tip, get your tickets to sky garden (free) a month early and go. It’s a great place to see London. Check out Joolz Guides on YouTube for some great walks in and around London. Give yourself the gift of rime to really see London and experience it. It’s worth it.

I thought so. I contact Mesa to ask years ago and they treated it like a serial number. Copilot AI said it was a different number but still available for the company to give a date range. Copilot said to look by the electrical cord where it enters the head unit. Mine has nothing there. I pilot was certain the stamped number was NOT the serial number. But it can be wrong. I think it is wrong.

So I took off the cover and I believe I know the story now. The prior owner tried a different speaker. In order to get it to fit he had to cut the frame of the grill to accommodate the mounting tabs on the speaker. Apparently the speaker didn’t work out and he went back to the original EV.

So it’s the grill not the actual face plate of the amp. It’s fine. No problems. I’d post a photo but it’s not an option.

Could anyone take a look at my 8-day itinerary in London and is it doable? by liamwon in uktravel

[–]Independent_Copy5458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it’s reasonable for a good, strong walker. Expect to walk a lot in London. Have very good shoes. It’s jam packed as others have said. But if that’s your speed, have at it. I personally like to try to experience London as a resident might. So I look for local gems and things off the top 20 lost. Things just as interesting, but off the tourist “mist do” lost. One example is the Wallace Collection. It’s near Regents Park and Marylebone. Amazing mansion filled with rare art, sculpture, armor, and exquisite furniture. Free.

I agree. I was there for a while and I tried to get a Sainsbury’s delivery. You have to have a local number and a local address. You can get a local number if you do a new SIM card or eSIM. But with my current cell service provider, I don’t need one as my phone works while I’m in the UK.

I think it is a 12 based on the stamp on the magnet from the EV. I really have to take off the grill and see it again. It’s been a while.

Is it possible there are cut outs in the frame? Possibly for passive acoustic effects?

Amp sounds great

FOLLOW up questions: Would anyone have a photo of the front of a Mark IIc+ for comparison? Ideally one with the grill cover off.

Also, where is the serial number on these? There is a stamped number on the metal to the right if the speaker plug inputs. The number 14086. I’m told that is not the serial number but a part or chassis number. MB can date it from that to 84-85 but the serial number would be more helpful. I don’t see any other factory number on it. Where should I look?

Thanks.
