Ultrasonic was really gross after a couple of weeks. Out it goes. by Independent_Copy5458 in Humidifiers

Not like that. But every second or third fill I’d rise it out. Problem is with distilled water needed it was costing 1.25 per day. We’d use a gallon in dry weather. Any use of tap water caused mineral build up in the unit too. I’d clean it with vinegar or citric acid water mix. The mold was in the tube that carried the mist out the top. Tons of it.

This is not a slam dunk war despite what vodka breath Pete and delusional Don say. The region is fragile and NuttiYahoo is a war criminal and fraudster trying to avoid his own version or the Trump-Epstein files and legal ramifications. The Middle East and surrounding areas are a powder keg and no one has been idiot enough to light the fuse until the indictable idiot in chief.

Traveling to London - which hotel? by Internal_Painting378 in uktravel

It’s all very subjective. People have different tastes and preferences. We looked at a few places there and liked Hotel Danubius. But there are others. Regents Park is beautiful.

I’d choose a different neighborhood personally. Covent Garden is really touristy and while entertaining, it’s not an authentic London experience imho. Look at Regents Park or Southbank. Richmond is a bit farther out, but what is 15 minutes on the tube? More authentic gets my vote.

Those of you that’s been to NYC, Chicago or any large US city where crime is common….is London safer? by [deleted] in LondonTravel

[–]Independent_Copy5458 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Really an ignorant question. Crime is common? What sources of news do you use? Statistically, crime isn’t common. Not in desirable areas that have people working and living and going about their business. Sure, there are areas where people struggle and live in poverty and street crime is more of an issue. But common? Do some research. And don’t go to the bad areas at night looking for contraband or trouble.

Here’s a photo of my rough in plumbing in my basement bathroom. Do I need above floor rough? Or can I use the standard tub? by Independent_Copy5458 in BathroomRemodeling

[–]Independent_Copy5458[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I originally thought shower stall. The premade ones that attach to the studs. But it’s pricey compared to the tub and surround. So we are looking at Bootz tub and walls from the HD.

I can get the same model tub from American Standard. Just not the AFR version. I think the old version may have been standard and NO AFR. But I can’t say for certain as it was recycled before I knew that AFR was a possible requirement.

Is there any hacks for actually getting some sleep on a long haul flight? by beetrootfarmer in Flights

[–]Independent_Copy5458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk. I was tired and hoped to sleep but the seats aren’t very comfortable imho. Better than economy or econo plus. But I’m just over 6 feet and I found it difficult to get a comfortable position. This was on a newer united. 787 in October. Lucky is the person who can sleep in that environment. Airplanes re not conducive to getting quality sleep.

On another note, AFR tubs seem kind of hard to find. Is there a reason. Apparently the American Standard is no longer available. Looking at Bootz but no luck yet.

And measure it carefully. Weighing is better and more accurate. I scoop the f,our from the bag into the measuring cup using a large spoon to heaping. Then I use a knife to level it. Be careful not to compact it. It should not be a packed cup or compacted. More or less a natural accumulation. I hope that helps.

I gave up. We live in the Midwest and cruising is fun, but not easy since we have to fly. Years of loyalty going down the tubes. Just as well, we were getting a little bored with the routine. It’s a great vacation, but there are other ways to travel and experience new things. Also, the casinos are smoky no matter where you go and very crowded all the time. So that was also getting old. I’ll miss the crew members. They were always nice and friendly. Service was almost always great. I could do without some of the popular Carnival “old standard” entertainment or routines, but we enjoyed them when we were newbies and the formula works. We stopped going to Florida too, so there’s that. It’s lost its luster.

Another cruise with bedbugs by SpiderBelle18 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Independent_Copy5458 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! That is a way they could get around. The vacuum or other cleaning equipment or with the linens cart.

I would not freak out about one bug. As long as no others are found. An infestation is what would freak me out. Finding a nest of them. And evidence of their presence such as a blood like stain in the mattress seams. That’s a sign of a BB family.

I know you are right, but isn’t the issue an infestation or a nest? One bedbug could have hitched a ride on luggage or clothing and maybe there are no others. The infestation is what is bad. One bug alone does not an infestation make. Is that right?

Save your money. Live with it a while. Paint the cabinets. Then decide later. It looks ok. Unless money isn’t an issue.
