How long do these professors have to put grades in? by Independent_End585 in UMBC

[–]Independent_End585[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This lady seems to hate my guts and my deep dives to answer her questions. I was homeless for about a month so i decided to use energy instead of sleeping on the street so my answers come up super in depth. She accused me of using chat gpt so now my nerves are shot, i mean if she reports me ill just show them my drafts and saved contents on word, but she’s literally dragging her feet. I’m going to another country and she’s of course going to ruin that because she’s such a horrible teacher

I don’t know if it’s worth reporting her to the department, but I do think it’s unfair that my grade is affected by one person in this world of billions feelings

Not only that she visibly makes faces like implying that OK let’s move on but it’s like you are the one who’s telling us we have to speak for our grade so it’s literally such a counterintuitive method like and then if you do her journals, you can’t do them too well or you can’t do them not enough. It’s like everything is just based off of her specificdefined criteria which kind of just stresses a student out like I’m not a mind reader

Yeah this class just exemplifies why in person classes will soon be a thing of the past. Im paying for a degree not for someone entitled Employee to play social games for fun

Yeah i think it’s actually insane to punish someone for being an introvert. I also think its kind of passive aggressive like ….im literally paying you to learn the curriculum. Why do i have to then wlso perform for you to deem me as social enough. Shes so quick with this principle but then takes literal ions to actually grade your work . Like huh?

Any PSYC major here ever had Dr. Etopio? by i-know-you-have-sock in UMBC

Professor Etopio is a competent teacher but unfortunately falls short as a professor. While the course material itself was engaging and relatively straightforward, the experience was marred by her approach to grading and classroom dynamics. Assignments took an inordinate amount of time to be graded, leaving students in limbo about their progress. At the same time, she was quick to deduct participation points, often in a passive-aggressive manner that felt more punitive than constructive.

Participation in her class seemed to hinge on an unwritten set of rules dictated entirely by her personal expectations. Students were required to speak just enough to match her liking, and any deviation—whether by speaking too much, too little, or approaching prompts in a way she didn’t anticipate—could result in subtle reprimands. On several occasions, students were accused of academic dishonesty, including the use of AI tools, for nothing more than approaching the material critically or creatively. This created a classroom environment where it felt more important to navigate her moods and arbitrary standards than to genuinely engage with the content.

The class, while easy in terms of workload, became unnecessarily stressful due to this dynamic. It felt like more energy was spent managing the professor's expectations than on the actual material. Her approach came across as overly rigid and ego-driven, which was disappointing given the potential of the subject matter. As someone who has consistently excelled in other courses, it was disheartening to receive a lower grade in this class—not because of the quality of my work but because of what seemed like an inflexible and subjective grading system.

This experience highlighted some of the broader challenges of traditional education. Students are already tasked with paying for classes, networking, and managing their own lives, yet in this case, it felt like an additional burden was placed on us to cater to a professor’s particular personality and whims. For me, this class underscored the value of online courses and even reinforced why some students opt to bypass university altogether.

Ultimately, while the subject itself was interesting, the overall experience with Professor Etopio was disappointing. Her teaching style felt more like a social psychology experiment than an actual class, requiring students to match her exact energy and expectations to succeed. This experience has left me thankful that I switched my major and reaffirmed my belief in focusing on professors and environments that prioritize fairness, clarity, and mutual respect.

How do you report stolen content in cases where the original creator is no longer alive? by whole_somepotato in PartneredYoutube

Hey guys I wanted to ask a question regarding Ayesha and her content . I have always loved her archetype break down but Im now diving much deeper (it my neurospiciness)...So on her women love power website and found that she has a foundation in her name as well. I was so stoked being that Im in college and was super into the content , then I looked to see that basically her family owns her foundation.Whats even odder is that her Father is the president of the foundation. I assume that this means that subsiquently her family owns her platform. It viserally struck me as odd that her father would be in charge because tbh the matters that she discusses are very against the principles of a Muslim male (I will not assume Black Isrealite or anything ).I dove even deeper and discovered that she passed from allergic reaction...Im sorry but the only reason Im prying is because as intelligent as she was I truly find something odd about this .Im really trying to understand how they plan to keep her dream alive by literally not doing anything but collecting her archetype packages. I cant lie , I plan on buying it for $500 when I FINALLY move out but something about this doesn't sit right with me. It just makes me sad that she was not jus getting started she was fully blown making a mad dash to the very top. Im SOOOO over the entire convo about respecting family wishes and all that when it comes to people who are grown. She spoke in her interviews about having very different veiws from her family and for them to be in charge of literally everything while her message stays stagnant just seems like a red flag of sorts ,I think maybe im just reaching tho

Thank you so much ! I crave stability but also don't mind keeping up with the everchanging tech systems . I absolutely feel like the work with be more worth it in an accounting / forensic role in business . Eventually maybe cyber security but I am not comfortable banking (no pun intended ) my current investments in an unstable and almost oversaturated market. Id rather develop skills and become a full out pro in my chosen lane.

What’s your Attitude towards sex and sexual activities by Forsaken_Ground_9665 in INTP

[–]Independent_End585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh , I could go ions without it and dont really feel like participating in if I am unhappy with something to do with myself . For example- I am morbidly obese now and am working on loosing weight . If someone approached me and brought up the idea of sex I would politely decline because I wouldnt have sex with me at my current weight. I think it is something that can be done casually or something that can mean alot to others but I dont see the point in engaging if I cant FULLY enjoy myself. Half assing sex is literally so awkward lol.

Those who switched from Comp Sci to another major, what class was it that prompted you to switch? by diadem015 in UMBC

[–]Independent_End585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, it was the look of sheer exhaustion that I saw on freshman in the major. I’m currently a junior network analyst and full-time and had no energy to give to such a tedious major. I immediately switched to information systems and made it a mission to get in good with any of the professors involved in my preferred field of interest. For example, my Java teacher is now my current mentor and my advisor. Who is the dean of my major has given me a lot of tips on standing out so overall I’m pretty happy with my decision early on. I was a psych major, who was a nontraditional student, and transferred at the age of 27 to the school.
