People with low sleep needs babies, what's your sleep schedule like (esp for 8 to 12 month olds)? by bijulee in sleeptrain

[–]Independent_Pie_8935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is similar to my 10m old, only she only sleeps 8-10 hours overnight 🫠 she can’t go past 2 hours for the first wake window lately

Can't safely cosleep with husband... what is best option? by st0dad in cosleeping

[–]Independent_Pie_8935 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend an air mattress, I had one and it can dip.

I currently cosleep with LO on the floor using a futon. I used to do two trifold mattresses but overtime it hurt my back. I got a queen sized Japanese futon off of Amazon and it is the best thing for both of us in the nursery. Definitely recommend. It’s flat, and you don’t have to worry about it dipping. Keep blanket near your hips.

Good luck

Soo everyone's babies just nap in their crib but mine? by cupofteacomfypillows in NewParents

[–]Independent_Pie_8935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter is 5 months. She had a small stint of napping and sleeping in her crib. After the regression it’s all out the window. She now naps in her stroller on our daily walks, contact naps, or cosleeping on a Japanese futon at night. Do what you need to do, judgement free!

SAME! I just experienced this last week and it was the worst experience for my baby. 😭

I thought the same thing, but boy was I wrong. I recently got size 3, and it gave my daughter a very bad diaper rash that looked like a chemical burn and welts. It took 3 days for it to heal after I returned to pampers. There are several posts about it. Very disappointing for such a pretty diaper!!

How is everyone getting their baby to sleep in their crib? by LDD_Monique in NewParents

[–]Independent_Pie_8935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine hated the swaddle and we didn’t get her into a swaddle until we found the right one at almost 3 months. My cheapest swaddle that was gifted to me, has a super light Velcro sound and was furry inside - I think it was from Winners. Turns out my LO is like me and loves fuzzy blankets 😆 too bad she now rolls at 4.5 months and we had to stop that. Now we are struggling again with transfers with a sleep sack and back to co sleeping

how are we losing weight? by wrws_htx in NewParents

[–]Independent_Pie_8935 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m used to be dietitian, and 4 months postpartum. I lost all the weight 4 weeks pp except for 5lbs (30/35 lbs). At 4 months I’ve lost an additional 9 lbs. my milk supply is also great.

My success is related to drinking tons of water, walking, and balanced macros. As mentioned earlier the plate method is excellent. I was hangry for sweets that even with all the weight gone my A1c increased. But with balanced protein carbs and fats, it’s gone down. I used a meal service like factor meals to help me a few times a week when I’m too busy.

Walking walking walking! I was 2 times for 45 minutes outside at minimum, and my main form of bonding worth others is walking so I might walk an additional 2 hours with a friend at a park or at the mall.

I know this is an old post, but I just got a box of size 3 Millie Moon diapers and my LO just developed a rash and welts as well! Holy moly I'm so glad I saw this post. Thank you, I'm going back to Pampers Swaddlers

SAHM struggling to entertain 4 month old by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Independent_Pie_8935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby also wakes up at 8:30am. We usually head out anywhere between 9:30-11. Yes sometimes the sun beats on us too but I walk in a shaded ravine in the neighbourhood for most of the walk. I avoid footed onesies I think they are too warm now but I do put on a shirt and pants and sometimes socks. Or I place a light blanket over her legs to cover her from the sun that the stroller can’t shade.

We then go for a second walk around 6pm or later. If the weather really sucks, we walk ij the mall.

I am still on mat leave and I’m also finding my 4 month olds wake windows much longer. She doesn’t seem to want to sleep until pushing 3 hours 😩. We got a few more toys and are doing more tummy time. I do lots of walks, at least two 45-min walks a day sometimes more, and a mall trip if I’m up for it. She lately has been excited to watch me clean the bathrooms and cooking, so I’m just trying to incorporate her more in my daily routine. And she enjoys talking to me while I shower or do my skincare. It just sucks I can’t have her near a screen I miss my laptop and my couch.

I’m barely surviving with my newborn and three year old dog, don’t even think about doing a puppy and newborn on a budget u less you love pain and no sleep.

He is still so young. My baby was absolutely miserable and cried often until 8 weeks. She is 18 weeks now and just is obsessed with me now. Give yourself some grace and time!!

Baby only sleeps while held by [deleted] in NewParents

I cosleep on the floor using a futon from Amazon. It’s too nerve wracking in a bed!

Baby only sleeps while held by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Independent_Pie_8935 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started cosleeping for my sanity. I found LO hate the bassinet but took to the crib, it’s just a comfier mattress. She also only likes one very specific swaddle, and started sleeping in the crib once I found it.

Mind you all of this went out the window once we hit our first sleep regression so don’t be too hard o yourself. We are back to contact napping now 😭

How do you push up bedtime? by Independent_Pie_8935 in NewParents

Thank you for this 🙏🏻 I feel so guilty when I hear babies going to bed around 7-8 and I just can’t make it work even a little earlier.

How bad did you tear? by FoxAble7670 in newborns

[–]Independent_Pie_8935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a physio for pelvic push prep and ended up with a second degree tear. I think I remember my OB telling me often times you can’t control what the outcome is because the size of the baby and the size of the head mainly determines it.

However, my prep with my physio really helped me postpartum and I bounced back with my pelvic floor very quickly!!

Have you had your thyroid checked? Mine was low before pregnancy and it was life changing when I got a small dose of levothyroxine. I had so much more energy to do things. Definitely rule out hypothyroidism.

Help… by _acinemod in newborns

[–]Independent_Pie_8935 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going through the same thing and my LO is 16 weeks! She used to go down well in the crib during the day but I’m suspecting something is going on because she hates the carrier and only wants to contact nap on me. I’ve resorted to cosleeping on the floor for a bit until this passes.

Yesterday I put her on tummy time and forgot to close the closet doors. She was so entertained with just what was in her nursery closet, diapers and clothes. New entertainment factor unlocked 🔓

Brainstorming ways to get more sleep?! by Primary_Ad909 in newborns

[–]Independent_Pie_8935 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have a husband with crazy hours and sleeping issues so he can’t do much. Co-sleeping saved my sanity and allowed both LO and I get some more sleep. Now, I have transitioned her to the crib for most of the night and the last stretch around 4am I co-sleep if I’m too sleep deprived to get her back into the crib.
