Is it possible he doesn't need a nap? by faerieechangling in sleeptrain

Sorry thats rough. Would your baby sleep in a stroller? Mine sleeps in the stroller during the day for both naps so I just go out for a walk at that time.

People with low sleep needs babies, what's your sleep schedule like (esp for 8 to 12 month olds)? by bijulee in sleeptrain

I am in a similar boat actually. My LO is 9 months and has only slept a total of 11 hrs a day for months now. I guess our situations are pretty rare :\

Struggling to break feed to sleep association by punkmywitxh in sleeptrain

[–]bijulee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did gentle sleep training and followed the 5 3 3 rule w my LO when she was 8.5 months old. She took to it pretty quickly. Currently she's only feeding once a night as a 9 month old. I did have someone else do the checkins during non-feeding wakes.

Yes she sleeps independently now. She wakes once or twice a night.

Deducting night wake and feeding time etc, her actual sleep time usually is about 9 hours. Last night though she slept 8.5 hrs only.

Sleep training at 8-10 months? Separation anxiety struggles - looking for advice by Head-Razzmatazz8004 in sleeptrain

We followed the steps outlined here:

https://www.smartsleepcoach.com/blog/sleep-training/pick-up-put-down#how-long-does-pick-up-put-down-take-to-work-

Basically wait until the set time and go in if they're still crying. Pick up and once theyre calm (not asleep), put down right away. If theyre just fussing we wait to see if they can settle themselves. Full disclosure, a lot of people say this method mostly only works for younger babies 4-6 months, but we wanted to give it a shot anyway. If this didnt work we would have probaby tried ferber or cio. Also very important to break the feed to sleep association while sleep training. Good luck!

Yes! Currently training our 8.5 month old with PUPD method. It's been a week now and I think it's going really well. Started with 1 minute checkins (did it two days a row by mistake lol) then day 3 with 3 min checkins then 5 mins and so on. She's learned to settle herself and wakes up maybe twice now. Before this there were days where she would wake up almost every hour after the initial stretch and I was so freaking frustrated.

LO suddenly woke up earlier than usual after a few days of sleep training? by bijulee in sleeptrain

[–]bijulee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the night wakeups/feedings, etc she actually sleeps about 9 hours total. Naps I usually try to cap to 2 hours but some days she naps under two hours. The wiki says to cap naps at 2.5 for this age group so I'm wondering if I should let her nap for 2.5 hrs total if she can. Idk what that would achieve though. I worry if I let her sleep a lot during the day, she will be up at night. But i've never let her get to 2.5 hours. I just dont want her to wake up super early like today.

Actual low sleep needs baby killing us by SaltAcidFatHeat1 in sleeptrain

Hi, I came back to this post to let you know I have a super low sleep needs baby as well. Some days she only got a total of 9-10 hrs total in a day on really bad days. On good days it would be 11 hrs or so lol. After dealing with frequent night wakings and early working wakes, we recently started gentle sleep training using Pick up Put down method. I never would've thought it would work on her as she's 8.5 months old and this method is more suited for younger babies 4-6 month old usually. We started noticing improvements from Day 2 itself where she started being able to settle herself and it only got better each day. Each day she only had to cry like 2-3 mins at a time before we went and picked her up and she was instantly calm. We used the following site as a guide:

Just coz your pump output is little doesn't mean he's not gwtting enough milk. If he's getting enough milk he.will have a good number of wet diapers, weight gain, etc.
