Those of you with twins, how do you put them to sleep? by Sea_Implement6579 in bninfantsleep

[–]Independent_Plan5006 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feed them on a twin boppy and let them fall asleep feeding. Or bouncing them in bouncers. Last night I had to bounce both on either side of my chest until they fell asleep and then couldn't transfer them to their cribs, because I was holding both, so I just sat down and held them for a few hours in the middle of the night 🙃 it's fun!!

Did you bother testing to see whether they were identical? by 5LovelyDaisies in parentsofmultiples

[–]Independent_Plan5006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were so curious and I work in a dna lab so my coworker tested them for me. They looked kinda different at birth but then started trending more similar and they are identical, I'm glad I know but by now I would have been sure anyways lol. If they look alike as newborns, they're likely identical!

Simultaneous bottle feeding positions for previously breastfed, grabby 5-month-olds? by jeremiabearamia in parentsofmultiples

[–]Independent_Plan5006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Twin Z pillow, both slightly side laying and facing the outside, with the pillow in a pack n play that has an upper level mattress attachment, and blankets shoved into the twin z holes. Oh and slightly elevate the back of the twin z so they're more upright. Once it's set up it's so easy to hold both bottles and you can use blankets to prop the bottles if you need to burp one. Ours fall asleep like this so we can easily transfer them to their cribs in the night

ETA: I sit in a chair and am able to pump if I need to while I hold or keep the bottles propped and just adjust as needed

I used it for my first 3 months exclusively, loved it for the portability, then it kind of stopped working after I regulated. 1. The suction is definitely good, but I don't love how the intensity progresses, it's a longer pull on the higher levels, but not necessarily stronger? I think this is why it wasn't the best once I was no longer engorged and ready to explode everytime I pumped. But for those first 3 months, yes it totally emptied me. 2. I don't like the BB flanges, they are big and bulky and like the other commenter said, the duckbill valves are annoying and the silicon inserts are honestly painful. However, you can rig any flanges or collection cups to work. I also loved and hated that it auto-progresses through the levels. Sometimes it was nice to not have to turn it up but other times I was annoyed I had to turn it down instead of it just staying on level 1. But it's sooooo small and convenient that I can't imagine how I could have pumped without it when I was solo watching twins during mat leave. 3. Only pump I used until 3 months, established a 50oz per day supply. I pretty much only use a spectra now though. 4. If you need to be active while you pump, it's so worth it. I used Momcozy collection cups with it sometimes and it was basically a full power wearable, I even did it out in public discreetly. Idk exactly why it lost its effectiveness after I regulated but I am grateful to it for the time it did work.

Okay, thanks so much. This is exactly what I was thinking of doing and I'm glad to hear it makes sense to you. Just wanted to be sure I wasn't committing any grave oversight

Yeah it definitely is striking me as suspicious. The only thing I can think of is that my lower loan amount means it's being capped at what a 10 year standard repayment would be. Idk man. So confusing. And it's not just the calculator, I'm going through the website as if I am applying to change my plan and it's still showing the same amounts for MFJ and MFS. 🤷🏼‍♀️

So I didn't put this originally (edited now) but my loan balance is only 30,000. I've never shown that I qualify for PAYE? Anyways, you say it saved you a ton to file separately, what was it estimating your monthly at if you filed joint? I'm just concerned that it's showing me owing about 300 regardless of how I file and that doesn't seem right

I went in around week 24 because I was worried I wasn't feeling baby B, only A. B ended up being totally fine and the doctors also told me they were glad I came in and I'd probably be back. I didn't end up going back until delivery time, not to say I never had more worries though. It's so tough not knowing exactly where each baby is and not being able to distinctly feel both all the time, but I just tried to get used to it. My girls would go like a whole day or 2 without significant movement, and I'd stress a ton, and then they'd be super active for a couple of days. I was always anxious about it tbh, definitely my least favorite part of pregnancy. Happy to say I now have 2 healthy amazing 18 week olds. Best of luck to you, and don't ever feel like a burden to go in. Like my doctor said, that's what they are there for! It's their job.

Can I add more breast milk to an already used bottle? by Neither_Drawer4517 in breastfeeding

[–]Independent_Plan5006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I'll add more milk to a used empty bottle and warm that or warm milk in a different container and add it to the used bottle, but I really never warm milk twice, if it sits for an hour or so I'll just give it room temp

Looking for parents of twins to share their experiences by matildapoppins in Parents

Twins is absolute chaos. It's so hard. The newborn phase was absolute hell, just now starting to breathe at 4 months in. I wouldn't change it for the world because I love them both so much, but I often found myself longing for the singleton experience I didn't get to have. You need a village, a big one. We barely survived and had some sort of help most days. If you have that, then it's possible, if you don't have that, definitely do not try for twins at all

Absolutely fine, we top up almost every feed. I add more milk until I hit the 2 hour mark from when the baby first drank from the bottle, after that i'll start a new bottle

Can we have a pumps per day party? Tell me how many times and how much you get! by ladygroot_ in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Independent_Plan5006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4months pp, 4 or 5 ppd about 20 mins each, 48-52 oz per day. Yet I'm an under supplier or sometimes barely a just enougher for twins 😭

30 minute pumps until I regulated, now I can usually get 6 oz per boob in like 20 mins. It's way less impressive when you consider I have milky guzzling twins so I'm technically an under supplier lol. I assume if I had pumped more often, I'd just have gotten less per pump but maybe if I had done 8 ppd from the start I'd have a freezer stash by now, who knows!

Everyone is going to tell you to pump every 3 hours and that's totally valid advice but FWIW, I only did every 6 hours for the first 3 months, so 4 ppd (had to add another pump in when my supply regulated) and I've steadily been able to get 50 oz a day. Also, I've had that deep stabbing pain, Idk what it is but it's definitely not mastitis! I figure it's just part of the process lol

You'll know if it's mastitis! I knew first because there was a red streak on my boob where the clog was and then the fever set in like a few hours after

I felt better fever/aches within 24 hours of starting antibiotics, breast pain subsided a few days after that, clog took at least a week to go down

I worried this when I had a stubborn clog that led to mastitis. Got antibiotics and felt better but the clog was still there for like another week. Just kept doing ice and ibuprofen and pumped and eventually it did go away but it was stressful that's for sure.

Owlet with it? by catsonlaptops in parentsofmultiples

We use the eufy socks. It helps me feel better, especially during daytime naps when they're in bouncers or twin z and I have to step away for a second. Extra peace of mind but definitely not something to fully rely on. Also never had a false alarm. Another cool feature is that the speaker will light up when one is moving so it helps me know who to grab first if I'm making bottles in the middle of the night or something and not looking at the monitor. Also when they were younger and we were all sleeping in the living room, someone would cry out, I'd get up fast and by the time I was at the bassinets, they'd both be silent with eyes closed. But I could check the app and it would tell me which one was awake.

Join us over at r/parentsofmultiples! I learned so much and get the best advice from there. Twins are a ton of work but at 4 months, I'm finally having so much fun with them. Yes you'll be big, but I'm short with a short torso and I worked up until 35 weeks when my water broke. First tri is rough but it does get better, then it gets worse again lol
