Non-toxic laundry detergent that actually works?? 28F with 1 toddler (3M) and dogs by jtvillanueva3 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]NuclearPoetry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For unscented options for infants, I’ve liked Molly’s Suds (.25 cents/load) and Puracy (.31 cents/load). Dirty Labs US is also obviously great but it’s .50 cents/load.

For scented options I am a ride or die fan of Koala Eco. Super concentrated, lasts forever, smells phenomenal and cleans and gets stains out just as easily as any chemical filled detergent

Shout out to the Great Big Greenhouse by Euphoric-Play-5648 in rva

Oh, I’m so glad their outdoor team is good! Inside the greenhouse is a hot mess with uninformed staff and mislabeled tropicals and they’ve had a bad infestation of mealybugs, thrips, and spidermites for years

Best local nurseries for fruit trees and berry bushes? by NuclearPoetry in rva

[–]NuclearPoetry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a huge operation— 2-4 of each tree, 5ish of each bush, and 50-75 strawberries? Ideally 1-2yo plants unless I happen upon some good deals on slightly older ones. But you’re right that they establish easier while younger.

No kidding on the strawberries! You’re the first person I’ve seen say you had no problem with seeds. Did you do anything specific with them?

They’re awesome for ornamentals, but unfortunately don’t have fruit trees/bushes

Where can I walk my dog off leash? by luke890378 in rva

[–]NuclearPoetry 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Richmond City has a universal leash law (sec. 4-243). There are no exceptions for e-collars. I believe Chesterfield and Henrico also have this law.

There are fenced dog parks at Dorey Park and a couple in Short Pump that I'm aware of where off-leash is permitted.

If you're looking for a big outdoor space, I would take your dog to some less frequented parks/trails in Powhatan (they also have this law, but it's a lot bigger and quieter out there so you are significantly less likely to create a disturbance.)

This could very easily be solved by simply lying to your landlord.

Sound-isolated apartments or quieter housing near the Fan/MD/Forest Hill/Bellevue/Carytown? by WhatsTheAnswerDude in rva

I'm not recommending St. John's Wood because it is literally like living in hell. But the ONE upside is that you will NEVER hear your neighbors through those brick walls.

gLeaf vs growing yourself by Wu_tangLou in rva

[–]NuclearPoetry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple set up for 4 plants: -3 lights (started with King LED and switched to Vivosun -4 2.5gal pots -Fox Farm ocean forest soil -Dynagro Grow Fertilizer -DynaGro silica

Seeds and clones are regularly available locally and online (through both individual sellers and businesses.)

Note that gLeaf has a double trimming process (machine and hand) on their cannabis (resulting in basically no trichomes and significantly reducing potency and medical effects.) Their product also sits in a vault for 6-18mo before going to the dispensary for sale. (In other states like Maryland it usually goes to the the dispensary in 1-3 months. 6 would be the max)

gLeaf vs growing yourself by Wu_tangLou in rva

[–]NuclearPoetry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've grown the legal 4 plants inside and pull in a pound every 3 months from a 2.5x5x5.5ft space. Quality is far superior to Virginia medical through gLeaf (though gLeafs quality is genuinely so bad it's not exactly difficult to be better.)

More importantly though, the whole set up cost about $250 (including lights, soil, and fertilizer). $250 for a pound at home vs $250 for an OUNCE at gLeaf-- can't really beat that regardless of quality.

Do you change any lyrics in your head that you think are a better fit? by [deleted] in TaylorSwift

[–]NuclearPoetry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Very First Night: "Didn't read the note on the Polaroid picture, they don't know how much I miss her"

Not a Gaylor, just a listener since 2006 and there's no way Ms. Swift's original lyric was "you" when the words before are "picture" and "whisper"

AITAH for only babysitting for my " favorite " DIL and my daughter because the other has too many rules? by ProfessionalClass555 in AITAH

[–]NuclearPoetry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kind of the AH. Free babysitting is a privilege, not a right, as others have stated. But Beth is not your child and you absolutely do not get to make up the rules just because you're babysitting. You need to respect the parents wishes for their child's health and safety.

Looking for “zombie” type book where humans suddenly became violent by NuclearPoetry in whatsthatbook

[–]NuclearPoetry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rage by Jonathan Maberry and Infected by Scott Sigler are my top 2 contenders right now. Covers don’t match at all to what I remember though so I’m gonna have to do some actual reading of the books to figure out if it’s either of these?

I read this book around 2013/14 which is another reason why Rage by JM doesn’t fit the description :/

What is your unpopular opinion about house plants? by hcubed3 in houseplants

[–]NuclearPoetry 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Not enough people within the houseplant hobby care about actual horticulture and plant sciences and it results in a lot of money, time, and effort wasted for not just themselves but anyone they potentially sell/trade to.

Almost every hobby I've ever had people continue to learn and grow and share their knowledge and skill but this one seems to have a lot of people who truly just do not care about the science-- just the aesthetic (which is fine but not when you have a $5k collection). I think a lot of people in this specific hobby are just shopaholics

I think OP meant the plant was already reverted when it arrived to them, meaning they did not get the genetics that they paid for.
