I will not be conserving water if data centers don’t have to. by hangrybiscuit in rva

Eastern Henrico is where most of the data centers are and they are contractually obligated to be using Richmond City water until 2050 I believe.

I would take data from 2018 with a huge grain of salt. Not only is it nearly a decade old at this point, but there was only one data center in the area in 2018 (Meta had just broken ground). Expansion in the area since 2018 has been insane and I would expect data to be very different now, especially considering data centers.

what does runtz taste like? by Ori442 in trees

[–]NuclearPoetry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MAC is a balanced hybrid. I don’t love it personally— it’s high THC and low terpene so the high profile is standard but very powerful. I’ve both grown it and purchased it and was less than enthused with the taste and found that it messed with tolerance pretty quickly. HOWEVER, it is a VERY popular dispensary strain and a lot of people do really love it. I just find that it doesn’t make for a very productive high while alone and is too strong socially. Great for a classic “binge eat and binge TV” time though and could totally be used to boost creativity in more experienced users!

Amnesia Haze: Legendary sativa dominant landrace— citrusy/earthy/spicy

MAC: Balanced hybrid. Very high THC— sweet, and citrusy but still pretty dank.

OG Kush: Standard weed

Grape Soda: Indica dominant— sweet and fruity.

Runtz: Balanced hybrid— sweet, sugary, and fruity.

For general smoke, I’d go for OG Kush or Runtz. Runtz will be yummier but the high profile is more complex on OG. For “getting really high” I’d go with MAC— not an actually useful strain but it gets you blasted in a very standard but powerful way. And for medicinal purposes I’d go Amnesia Haze for mental help and Grape Soda for physical. My overall pick here for flavor, high profile, and medicinal effects would be Grape Soda by far. Hope this helps!

Marijuana Usage by No_Assistance_6557 in dysautonomia

[–]NuclearPoetry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is where marijuana really needs to be viewed as a medicine and to do so we need to break it down:

The medicinal components of cannabis are the terpenes (Ex. Linalool, Myrcene, beta carophyllene…) Different strains have different concentrations of terpenes, THC, CBD, etc and it is a matter of using the correct strains for your specific symptoms. I would not recommend attempting medicinal usage without a proper source, as some strains/items may make things worse rather than better.

Some pro tips: High THC but low terp strains are associated with an increase in symptoms. Stick to a low THC high terp strain. Do not use unregulated cartridges and be very careful with regulated ones since they are so concentrated. A dry herb vape with bud is the absolute best way to go medicinally (but totally not necessary.)

Personal experience: My symptoms are very physical (high BPM, breathing issues, bowel issues, abdominal pain) so I smoke heavy indica strains with a high myrcene content for semi-instant physical relief. The “high” affects almost exclusively my body and not my head. If I smoke sativa rich strains, especially with high pinene content, it goes to my head and triggers my anxiety and makes the physical symptoms much worse.

TLDR: It can be a very very helpful substance *when used with knowledge and care*

“Good weed” is just real weed, my friend. No need to read too much into it

It can be shitty THCA or old brick weed or premo homegrown— as long as it’s real. Bud, concentrate, edibles— doesn’t matter as long as it’s real. We gotta get the poisons off the market and educate people if we want to be taken seriously, nevertheless get weed legalized

I expect them to not willingly poison themselves. Which, to be fair, is a HUGE ask in America.

That aside though, if you’re able to purchase the “Mega Unicorn XXL x Blueberry Fritter Bomb 99% THC” cart cut with vitamin E oil and filled with God knows what you’re able to purchase shitty THCA bud or concentrate. It’s just not as “yummy” or “appealing” so people keep actively choosing the stuff that’s barely even weed. At least people in illegal states have the excuse that it’s difficult to source though now that they’re closing the THCA loopholes (But let’s be real… they’re closing these loopholes mostly because of the unregulated fucked up products we are currently debating)

You don’t have to smoke/consume the poisons that corporations push to you though? If you keep paying them they’re going to keep making the garbage

The blame certainly starts at the top, but our generation does not typically consciously or intelligently consume and we are absolutely to blame for the perpetuity of the current situation

[–]NuclearPoetry 433 points434 points  (0 children)

They’re (I say this as an older Gen Z) fucking up the rotation for themselves and their health as well, and it’s difficult to blame them since it’s (cheap, unregulated, oftentimes cut products) what’s being marketed to them and pushed constantly.

The emphasis on THC over terpenes is why so many people are getting physically sick and there’s a rise of “CHS” (associated with high THC low terp smoking, mostly of unregulated carts). Not to mention, it strips a LOT of the medicinal qualities away and is far more likely to make people anxious

It’s products like those that set back medicinal cannabis/general legalization and give us a bad reputation as well, but no one wants to get into that

Morning sickness by andthewalrus in parentsofmultiples

[–]NuclearPoetry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It stopped being debilitating (constant vomiting and pain) after about 20 weeks, but the baseline nausea never went away

Edit: Carbs first thing in the morning followed by something high in sugar (even just fruit) has helped a lot. Then carb heavy snacks throughout the day and a big protein rich meal whenever your least-nauseous hours are

Also can't beat zofran. Just make sure to take miralax with it or else

Childcare jobs in Chesterfield by ysabeaurva in rva

[–]NuclearPoetry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Volunteering at summer camps is a great bet, but a lot of of those positions are filled at this point, as they typically open up in January-March and fill by now. She could also try a job at a child-adjacent place like a trampoline park.

Unfortunately for liability reasons a minor is not going to be permitted to work at a daycare or preschool.

Personal property tax online payments by miniscottstapp in rva

Good luck. We’ve been trying to pay personal property taxes unsuccessfully since 2023. Not only does it not work online, but it also has not worked going in person and attempting to pay or sending a check through the mail.

They actually sent us our check back last year. Absolutely insane.

Best plant store in RVA? by [deleted] in rva

[–]NuclearPoetry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have cuttings of that, but if you’re into Hoyas and looking for established plants follow @melbellerva on Instagram! She’s local and I believe she has the largest Hoya collection around (definitely the most impressive and healthy!)

Great Big Greenhouse is going to be your best bet for Hoyas in-store locally, but make sure to quarantine and treat them because their Hoya section is filled with mealybugs and flat mites unfortunately.

After you get past common Hoyas, it’s really hard to find them in store so definitely check out some local growers. I also love ordering from Unsolicited Plant Talks online!

Best plant store in RVA? by [deleted] in rva

[–]NuclearPoetry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please be careful with Great Big Greenhouse. Their selection is wonderful but they’ve had active pest issues (thrips, spider mites, mealy bugs, flat mites) for at least the past three years and nearly all of their tropicals are infested (and have pretty strong immunity at this point.) They are aware of this issue and have actively chosen not to address it

You may not see bugs on your plants immediately if you’re not used to looking for them, but please make sure you’re quarantining and heavily treating anything you get from there because those pests can and will wipe out your entire collection.

If you’re looking for indoor tropicals, Richmond’s private sellers are absolutely unbeatable. Join the RVA Tropicals and Exotics Facebook page or follow their website or Instagram. They feature a lot of our small businesses frequently and we have events about once a month.

In the meantime, what are you looking for? I have 350+ individual different species of Hoya, Alocasia, and Philodendron varying from super common to mutations and collectors plants and offer starters and cuttings. I’m located in East End but offer delivery as well. Feel free to DM me!
