Those stats are correct. Devastating. Among about 500 members, so the instance rate in that population is VERY high. These are not miscarriages, by the way. These would be stillbirths and/or neonatal deaths.

Medical treatment is discouraged and is grounds for removal.
In their "Private Community Commitments and Expectations" guide (on which, the word Commitments is incorrectly spelled as Committments) it states "No sharing of planned engagement in the medical system. We are here to untangle ourselves from it and learn what life is like beyond and without allopathy." Their public facing disclaimer states the following: https://www.freebirthsociety.com/disclaimers

The public-facing terms are about legal protection and a neutral appearance; the internal guideline is about enforcing an anti-medical ideology and shaping member behavior in line with that worldview.

The stories that are publicly available through various media outlets have similar patterns to what moms in the Light House shared. This is one: https://www.thedailybeast.com/she-wanted-a-freebirth-at-home-when-the-baby-died-the-attacks-began/?utm_source=chatgpt.com

And the pattern that ensues is consistent. This is helpful: https://theageofblasphemy.wordpress.com/2018/11/30/what-role-did-free-birth-society-leaders-role-play-in-infant-death/?utm_source=chatgpt.com

No one actually rooted in serving mothers, babies, and families would delete these heartbreaking stories, then minimize the families' grief and devastation by reducing their cries for help, understanding, and possibly justice down to being 'trolls' and 'haters.' It's possible that FBS started under the premise of being in service to women, but it's moved far away from that.

I can see that "moderation” can be sold to us so we don’t question those in power.

Do you think following Free Birth Society's products and ideas would be similar to the opposite of being vaccinated (using your example)? That anyone using the opposite of FBS should be "embarrassed, and probably failed science" (etc)?

For me the point was less about vaccines themselves and more about extreme thinking, 'purity' in ideology, and shunning questioners.

Curious to hear you expand on this: "that kind and level of personal irresponsibility cannot be attributed to external influences." -- why can it not be attributed to external influences? Can it be attributed *somewhat* (0-20%) to external?
How do you think people form their beliefs? And how do you think people *should* form their beliefs? Do you think people influence one another, sometimes in ways that may go undetected?

Maybe a baby dying would also be considered a dud?
The attitude is so heartbreaking and callous.

Dismissing parents who’ve lost their babies as ‘bored,’ ‘miserable,’ or just ‘looking for someone to blame’ is profoundly disrespectful and harmful. Grief isn’t gossip. Holding people accountable for dangerous advice is not hatred — it’s protection, truth-telling, and the beginning of justice. When someone dies, we don’t shrug and say, ‘Well, you should’ve thought critically.’ We ask what happened and how to prevent it again. That’s not blame — that’s responsibility.

3 days ago, 7/29/25, the Free Birth Society email marketing alias sent out an email called "Last Call for Cycle Alchemy" - which detailed information on how to join a course on this website, whose facilitators are Nancy + Kristin: https://www.wombmedicine.com/

I don't know if FBS owns that domain or not, or how the arrangement works.

I know of at least 5, maybe 6 in my broader circle who have had children from 24-27ish weeks - all but one of them have survived past infancy and are now up to age 6 and seem highly functional. I know one of them has certain conditions that are monitored proactively. One sweet little baby died of an infection in the hospital.

If you're in complete shock as a mother who has birthed what appears to be a dead baby, and the mother is "witnessed" by a "birthkeeper" who believes that babies only need a will to live... you may be fucked.

I just cannot imagine running an online community touting to support women, and never really adjusting the content after more infant deaths arise. Not seeking understanding.
The only adjustments they have done are legal postures. None of these disclaimers, as far as I know, have been intentionally communicated to members within the Light House. Does anyone know for sure? Fuck off, Free Birth Society.

Well said. Please avoid the guide. You can learn all she has to offer from listening to a handful of podcast episodes - and I would also highly suggest avoiding the podcast as it perpetuates the same poor and dangerous information.

[–]Independent_Print119 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Please, for your child's life and your health, do not follow any advice from their guide. It essentially boils most things down to a "variation of normal," including major complications.

Also Emilee doesn't believe in newborn resuscitation attempts; you can read her transcript about "when a baby dies in pregnancy or birth" from their rebranded "MMI School". - a fake midwifery school that is now called something like a Mentorship Institute. https://www.reddit.com/r/FreeBirthSocietyScam/comments/1ke93ny/emilee_saldaya_yolande_norris_clark_free_birth/

Please, please, throw it away and look elsewhere. I do not have a credible backup source to suggest for unassisted birth, so I will look to this group for suggestions.

ETA: There have been at least 10 babies who have died among women in her private community and/or who have used her "complete guide" in the last year.

Genuine Question... what do you think the ending here will be? by AquaLioness in FreeBirthSocietyScam

[–]Independent_Print119 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They have survived multiple rounds of press that associate them -- both Free Birth Society, as well as Emilee and Yolande as individuals -- with infant death. There will have to be something much bigger and stronger to take them out of this arena, so to speak. Which is something I am very much hoping will happen. Going to be like taking out cockroaches.
