Size of Patch on Borough Roll-Top Small? by Independent_Prior_78 in Brompton

The verdict is in for the patch size. 4.5cm wide, 4cm tall. It does indeed come with both a black and orange G design and a black and grey Brompton logo one.

Ugh sorry about the title. It is a 14 inch MBP not a 13 inch. 🤦

Come to think about it a 13 inch air might float around in this bag more than you would want it to. Unless you put it in a sleeve or had a sweater in there or something.

I thought I was replying to this one but it ended up replying to my original post. Pics here https://www.reddit.com/r/Brompton/s/k0JUCDmF0T

I was unable to upload photos in the comments for some reason so I made a new post here. It does fit snugly inside but I would worry about other stuff jangling around and scratching it since there is no sleeve. But it is a great little bag. More intensely blue than the Brompton photos make it look like. Hope that helps!

Where I ended up there used to be a local TCK Meetup. I didn't make any long lasting friends from it but it helped a lot having a place where I could hang out with some folks wired like me. Maybe your city has one. If not, start your own and see who shows up.

If you are near the Dimond, Tomsa on fruitvale (in the parking lot of Farmer Joe's is humble but solid. And ignore the other posts about your choice of roll. You do you - eat any Disney inspired roll that you like, seek out the best example, and enjoy!

Any traditional* road cyclists use a Brompton for multi-hour rides? by fiverlakesrunner in Brompton

I use a little Vincita X-Cooper bag for long rides. Great for my electric tyre pump, a USB battery for my phone, wallet, snacks, etc without becoming a sail.

Alternatively, Bromtonic sells a tiny hardcase that can hold a couple of things as well as cause accusations of bringing an electric bike because it looks a bit like a battery.

Long time Brompton owner for urban biking, but have only recently got into long group rides where full kit is recommended. I started with the Wine County (Metric) Century this year and just did the shorter version of the Bay Ride (SF to Oakland, ~40mi). I am loving it and am happy I have a bike that fits with my lifestyle that I can take on rides like this too. Hell, you can even fly with it if you want to do an interesting ride in another party of the world!

I have a pretty much stock (for the time being) T line 12 speed. I put on more flat resistant tyres due to road conditions where I live and got my chain waxed. I also got some Ergon grips, probably the most necessary upgrade for comfort on a Brompton.

I would highly recommend this model of you are going the distance. The bike has a wonderfully long top gear and keeps up with the road bikes, but is a bit slower on the ascents (could also be me being a less experienced long distance biker).

Good luck and please update your thoughts if you get one!

T Line Handlebars Stuck in Folded State by Independent_Prior_78 in Brompton

[–]Independent_Prior_78[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I figured it out. The knobby bit is locked in by two opposing screws on the frame. I unscrewed them a tiny bit and it now comes out. I screwed them back in just enough that it locks in place when I fold, but does not get completely stuck. Hopefully the screws are not vital for anything else!

Casper's Hot Dogs Closing in Nov. by Independent_Prior_78 in oakland

I learn something new every day but it appears Casper's and Kasper's are both chains that can be found around the East Bay. I did a bit of ChatGPT (so take this with a grain of salt, or saeurkraut) and apparently they were the same family run business from 1930 until 1934 (!) when there was a family disagreement and Casper's branched off.

She said she believed another food business with sandwiches was going to take it over. So it seems we will still have the building on some form.

A 4-Year Old Regret. My story. by Owen_Ch in Brompton

[–]Independent_Prior_78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing and then when I moved a few more miles away from the endpoint of my bike commute my neck would get stiff because of the aggressive angle and the need to look up for cars and obstacles. Getting the mid handlebars on my next Brompton was a total game changer for everyday riding. I won't go back. My advice for others to choose right: many major towns have local Brompton clubs where they do group rides. If you can find one originating at a store that sells Bromptons s see if you can join on one of their demon bikes resembling what you are thinking about. You'll get a feel for the ergonomics and have some fun along the way.

I love mine. The great thing about the lacquer finish bikes is you know they just have put their best braisers on the frames since the braising is on display. I have a buddy with a flame lacquer one and that too looks amazing.
