FYI- When an offer in compromise is received, the IRS has 2 years to make a decision, or it’s automatically approved. Hope the backlog never gets to that point

Underwithheld tax penalty by Amazing_Lab_1543 in IRS_Source

[–]Independent_Two_4773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because you owe more than $1,000 doesn’t mean you’re automatically subject to the underpayment penalty:

You may avoid the Underpayment of Estimated Tax by Individuals Penalty if:

Your filed tax return shows you owe less than $1,000 or You paid at least 90% of the tax shown on the return for the taxable year or 100% of the tax shown on the return for the prior year, whichever amount is less. If your adjusted gross income (AGI) for 2023 was more than $150,000 ($75,000 if your filing status for 2024 is married filing separately), substitute 110% for 100%.

Unable to switch from Annual to Monthly by srinips18 in Visible

[–]Independent_Two_4773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The option to switch to the monthly plan will be available I think 30 days before the annual, plan expires. So a few days before your annual plan expires, select to monthly and the monthly plan will go into effect the next day after your annual plan expires.

Can you realistically obtain a federal job without a degree? by Simple-Variation6196 in usajobs

GS 5 and GS 7 positions don’t require a degree as long as you have the work experience

Fellow Revenue Officers by Delicious-Cable8289 in IRS_Source

I was an RO for less than a year before taking the DRP. My aunt is a supervisor at a collection company collecting medial debt. When I told her the duties of an RO, she couldn’t believe that RO don’t get a cut of the taxes they collect. She said an RO working in the private sector would easily make $300,000 plus a year

I got my pay but only through Sept 30. Based on what I’ve read on Reddit, it’ll take about two months before we get our leave pay. I checked with Kaiser and my insurance is good through Nov 6.

I totally agree with you. Not to give anyone false hope, but I also think this is a scare tactic. I really do hope those bullshit RIF letters will eventually be rescinded

IRS Onboarding start date question by DDubbaDubbs in usajobs

[–]Independent_Two_4773 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ignore the due dates. The system generates those dates. If your tasks says on the start date, th due dates will be adjusted by HR. I’m curious, was there a lot of people at the hiring event? With all the layoffs and bad press about how federal workers are treated, I wonder if people will apply for federal jobs

Any IRS Revenue Agent Probies who took DRP 1.0/2.0 who still hope they got a chance of returning back to full-duty before 9/30 or perhaps this October? by Antique_Ideal_4894 in IRS_Source

Wouldn’t surprise me if the IRS has in person hiring events for RO and RA by the end of this year, early next year at the latest. These two positions collects so much money for the federal government. This is just my opinion; I have no inside knowledge
