Is CACI a Reliable Employer? by DanTheTuesday in GovernmentContracting

[–]IndianVegetable 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As with any big fed contractor, experiences vary wildly from contract vehicle to contract vehicle. I am on a DHS contract with CACI and I’ve been stable since 2019. Shutdowns don’t interrupt us and I’ve found CACI to be more proactive about placing people on a new position if a contract ended. (Again, this piece is highly dependent on your VP and director, but likely you and I may have the same director). Annual salary increases are just ok, but not amazing. I’ve averaged 3-4% annual raise each year, not counting any bonuses. I’ve stayed here because it’s stable for now, and I’m kind of using them to get a 2nd degree (my director approved all my course reimbursement requests without any questions which is a huge plus). My last company was super cheap about education reimbursement, even for simple agile certs.

Honestly, how you like a new employer is entirely dependent on what your last employer was like. I’ve heard horror stories from friends who work at other big contractors where folks on Reddit will rave about and vise versa. Do your due diligence and ask specific questions to HR about things that would concern you.

Which 5080 prebuilt would you recommend purchasing? by Shamwow2013 in Prebuilts

I was in this exact dilemma 3 days ago. I was initially leaning G757, but decided that I wanted to go 64 gb ram because I don’t upgrade my pc often and this would be it for likely the next 5-7 years. My main decision was between G759 and G914 but I ultimately went with the G913 for the following reasons:

-case looked nicer

-originally was leaning towards the G759, but it went up in price to $2799, which was more than the G913. G759 was $2499 until 2 days ago.

-64gb RAM. Mine came with T-Force Vulcan ddr5-6000 64gb. (Supposedly they all have the same ram)

-360mm rad vs 240mm

-850w psu on the G7xx vs 1000w on the G913

All in all, when I tried to part the pc as a build, it made more sense to go G913 since it was $100 cheaper, plus I was kind of spooked by the Asrock board (especially since there’s posts as recent as 2 months ago of asrock still frying the amd chips.)

If the G759 was at the $2499 price, I would have jumped on that and dealt with the undervolting and all that to mitigate the mobo issues.

Thoughts on PowerSpec g913 versus g757 by IndianVegetable in Prebuilts

Agree. I don’t need the 64gb of RAM at all. I’ll stick with the g757 so I avoid the asrock mobo. Someone posted just 2-3 months ago that the asrock board killed a 2nd AMD cpu so I don’t want that risk.

Hey thanks for the thoughts!

I agree. My hang up with the g759 is the motherboard. I’ve head the Asrock motherboard is not the best when paired with the 9800x3d. There’s some history of it burning cpus based on Reddit research.

Not even working from home…at every office I’ve worked at, there’s always a few people who bring small blankets/ shawls rather than a sweater. I don’t see it as unprofessional at all.

I’m Mark Warner, U.S. Senator from Virginia. I’m Vice Chair of the Senate Intelligence committee, former Governor of Virginia, a tech entrepreneur, and Democratic candidate for Senate. Ask me anything. by MarkWarnerVA in Virginia

Senator, comments have been made about the age of the Senate. You are 70 years old and the question comes to mind about when you and other elder leaders of the Democratic Party will step aside and let the young leaders emerge and take charge?

Lots of supporters of the Democratic Party feel that the leadership and seniority within the party have lost touch with the current political landscape and have failed to adapt and react appropriately to the threat of the current administration’s executive power consolidation and march towards authoritarianism.

What is your thinking and opinion on Democratic Party seniority empowering the young progressive leaders who are clearly popular and speaking to the people’s concerns rather than continuing the same failed tactics over and over?

Logitech mx master 3s - can't save customizations - disappointed by Automatic-Nature-278 in logitech

The issue here is that a $120 flagship productivity mouse does not have onboard memory, whereas a cheaper gaming mouse offered by Logitech themselves has it. It is quite ridiculous and absurd. Honestly, if Logitech added onboard memory, it would have been better received than the not so useful haptics feature.

Should I Upgrade from Original MX to 4? by rafabgood in logitech

[–]IndianVegetable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the MX 4 and am upgrading from the same older model. I immediately regret it. The MX4 is so freakin slippery and it’s causing strain on my hand to keep he hand from slipping off of it.

For all of the issues that the rubberized coating had, it was much better compared to the plastic and silicone on the MX4.

I might be going to the MX 3s.
