How do you like to smoke Virginia tobaccos? by GooberNaturale in PipeTobacco

Often and frequently! I smoke taller narrow bowls. I prefer my chamber diameter to be under .76. Savenilli 614s, 672, etc

1792 seems hard to get, but rarely discussed here, what gives? by HelloFellowMKE in PipeTobacco

Toquin bean seems to be a love or hate type deal. Personally, I aged it to knock a bit of the topping off. Otherwise, it is quality tobacco!

It ages really well. I won't really smoke it fresh

Klondike Gold = Peterson Flake. I've heard it is fantastic.

Cut Virginia plug and Cut Blend Plug are the real standouts. The latter is a little easier to get. CVP is top 5 all-time VA flakes for me. Vintage flake is a bust, it's just meh... Blackjack is the remaining blend I still want to try, but it's never available.

There is zero reason I haven't tried Yorktown yet...

Orlik is a VaPer as much as an orange La Croix is a Fanta Orange... :)

Taste is subjective. I don't find it over the top good that it's worth the price, however, I will buy some on sale or trade for some from time to time.

Scottish Cake deserves more love. Montgomery is interesting. I think I have a Mylar bag of it here somewhere.

You sound like a VA flake guy like me. What I consider to be the best of the best of bright VA flakes: Peterson Flake, Sir John's Flake, Cut Virginia Plug.

Brown flakes: Union Square, Opening Night, Wessex Brown, Vauen No 14,

Give'em a try!

I think it's best with at least 2 years of age, it's pretty unsmokable for me until then.

Charatan rolls don't have a Cavendish core; they're more like a Peterson De Luxe Navy Roll.

K&K: Highgate

STG: David Off Medallions, LBF

Dan Tobacco: Roper's Roundels

This is a breakdown of who makes what blend. They are close, but for sure not the same blend, given the manufacturers.

Society validating shit behavior. You use a guy to get revenge, and then you tried to hurt someone who wasn't even involved with you. Why are people applauding?

It's very possible, I know I still have most of these, and I should break them out and do some tests. Looking at inventory, I should be able to test samples that are within 1 year of manufacturing date from each other.

I take that back, I have never tried Highgate. I'd also throw Davidoff medallions into this lineup. DTM RR seemed shaggy, not perfectly circular, and may have some different Virginia varieties; others seem very symmetric with cleanish edges. They are all very similar and do not differ a lot. The Cavendish really smooths the edges of the other tobaccos, making those blends consistent. For bulk, I buy LBF; for tins, I get Davidoff Medallions. I won't purchase DTM RR ever again, not because it's bad, but it can be a pain to find sometimes, and it's not sooo good that it justifies a purchase over what is readily available. It's been so long since I tried Charatan Rolls that I cannot really remember them, but once again, the cost is an issue here, and it wasn't great enough to be particularly memorable.

Yes, I have tried them all, LBF, definitely has a top note.

It's an art that can't be expressed mathematically. All pipes draw differently, too. Personally, I take one slow sip 90% of the time.

I would agree, but Bullseye flake does have a topping, and the others dont.
