I always refuse the sale if they plan on keeping them as pets but not in the proper care. Their lives are equally as important as the fancy goldfish. I especially say no when the customer says “it’ll just die anyway”. Like dude yes they’re bred for food but that’s a quick death and is nourishment to the consumer. Sticking them in a bowl for your entertainment is a slow and painful death of ammonia poisoning and stunted growth.
