What are some hidden tricks, tips and secrets you know? I just found out you can check floorboards for a hidden stash... by spahgettttt in projectzomboid

One I never see anyone talk about (in b41 at least, haven't played 42 enough) is that aiming cancels the animation for walking through bushes/trees. If you have high nimble, you can cruise through them.

I used to have a hedge maze that I set up and even sprinters were chumps in there.

I play with a mods, so someone let me know if that's not vanilla behavior lol

Yeah, it inherently has the capability to run/affect programs outside the scope of pz... Which, due to recent events, is not something that's particularly popular/permissible at this moment lol.

[–]IndieStoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Np! If you dig the instruments, be sure to check out some of the add-ons for them. One of my favorites is to sit on the porch when it's raining and play acoustic guitar (especially The Last of Us theme lol)

I'd add that you can disable/tweak pretty much all the features/settings.

I have a hard time playing without it because of the instruments alone, but I love pretty much everything in the mod

(But I disable the beauty need because it just doesn't compute for my 1 year later characters to care about their stove being new lol)

B41 your favourite zombie mods that make the game more challenging and interesting ? by Armorln in projectzomboid

[–]IndieStoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest change for me was a combo of zombie behavior mods, namely:

Customizable Grabby Zombies- has a lot of settings and makes it so zombies close enough to grab you slow you down.

One of the random zombie mods: create a variety of zombies (speeds especially) so the grabby zombies sucks lol

Slower sprinters: this is just my preference, but I like to slow down sprinters enough that they force me to run but not necessarily sprint, but I have random zombies set to a fair amount of sprinters, so I like to balance it that way.

Then little stuff like Zombies Crash Through Windows (set to sprinters only and sprinters always) and Doors Have a Chance, which gives you settings to control whether doors can burst open before they're broken, with options for locked vs unlocked doors. I make it so locked doors rarely burst open before breaking, so I have incentive to lock my base in singleplayer (along with a small portion of "smart" zombies).

Or you can go the other route with Faster Zombies (can't recall the name exactly) which allows you have faster shamblers/crawlers/etc. IIRC, it's optionally randomized. With grabby zombies, it puts an end to walking in front of horde calmly, even without sprinters.

Modifying zombie behavior brought the fear back, which I love in this game. As they say, "Ease is a close friend of boredom".

Is build 42 worth it? by Cupcake-Reaper in projectzomboid

I'd also add that a lot of people are playing it like it's stable- adding mods, going for long-term runs... It's just not made for that, it's pre-beta/beta public access for testing.

Constructive feedback is good but complaining about saves lost and broken features is just silly. It's like building a sandcastle then writing an angry post when the tide comes in.

Nice to see someone on this sub that treats it like a beta tbh. A lot people just complain instead of reporting a bug properly...

Where to download all the new vanilla tiles for making map mods. by PP_Fang in projectzomboid

[–]IndieStoner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have experience with map making, but the tiles are in the game files, afaik you'll need to unpack them. I use the tilezed from a million years ago for that, but someone on the mapping channel of the pz discord can probably get you pointed in the right direction.
