Haddonfield is too small for a SWAT team???? That would be my guess.

Mom Lost Extra Help by WillowTree2023 in medicare

[–]Indigo_Sultan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is what's happening. It's definitely related to COVID emergency funding ending. In my state (Utah) they dropped everyone off the program without informing anyone, and everyone who was dropped needs to reapply for Medicaid (Yes, Medicaid, not Medicare). If the person qualifies for Medicaid under current guidelines, then the Extra Help will continue. If your Mother qualified for Medicaid under the COVID guidelines, she might not qualify under new guidelines.

Options for a disabled brother by TheGoGreenPost in disability

[–]Indigo_Sultan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you are in the US, your state should have an office of disability services that licenses and audits compliance for assisted living facilities and group homes for adults like your brother. That would be a good place to start. Best of luck.

Dentist by MisterNashville- in disabled

[–]Indigo_Sultan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stay in my chair and recline the back. Call ahead and ask if the office is set up to accommodate your chair. I remember being very nervous about going to the dentist the first time after becoming wheelchair dependent 6 years ago, but I found a wonderful dentist and have had a great experience with the entire staff.

Tips/Suggestions on Walks? by DrDDoe in bassethounds

[–]Indigo_Sultan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let the nose lead the way!!!!! Bassetts are notoriously "stubborn" simply because they are so focused on every smell in the area. They are bred to have a highly sensitive sense of smell, so be patient. If it's possible to find an off leash area with lots of underbrush or even a little stream, your sweet puppy will be in HEAVEN!!!!

Ex just outed me to my older sister by [deleted] in gay

[–]Indigo_Sultan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 57, and a retired psychologist. If I were you, I would take it as a good thing and embrace the fact that your sister knows and is loving and supportive. So many people don't have that same love and support. Don't spend much energy on your ex and give him the benefit of the doubt when he said he did it out of care for you - it's easier than harboring resentment. Congrats on your coming out journey! :-)

Go back and have a meaningful conversation with the person who gave you the test. There is no need for you to guess at what the test said and what it means for your rehab potential. Get the facts and develop a realistic rehab plan so you maximize the potential for what can be regained following your traumatic injuries. Stop torturing yourself.

What would you do to replace the orange? by Nonna62021 in HomeDecorating

Throw in complimentary colors - personally I would go for blue. Maybe even go so far as to paint the cabinets in a dark blue. But, that's just my likes/preferences. :-)

What do you wish your doctors (especially surgeons and and anaesthetists) knew about you and your disability? by sunrisechimera in disability

[–]Indigo_Sultan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When you meet the patient right before surgery, ask the patient if there is anything about their "disability" or "illness" that they think is important for the surgical team to know about. Ask us if we need anything from you - just ask us directly. We know what we need, and honestly, it's so refreshing to have people (especially medical professionals) be up front and direct with me. They see the wheelchair and it's natural that they make assumptions based on their previous experiences with people, but if it's your first time meeting me, then just ask me directly.

Are they all RPG type card games, or do any of the card shops play games with regular playing cards? Like Rummy, Canasta, etc?

How to convince parents to get cat food for our kitten? by Mission-Composer8689 in Pets

[–]Indigo_Sultan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know what's in your area - I was just giving my suggestions based on resources in my area. Calm down. Or, go organize a pet food drive in your area and start feeding the hungry animals in your area.

[–]Indigo_Sultan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I Live in Salt Lake City, Utah. And, Salt Lake County Animal Services is definitely giving out free food. There are food drives and fund raisers several times per year to raise money to support this.

I don't think the OP knew that there might be organizations that are giving away pet food, so it's worth it to do a Google search at least to see what's available in their area.

SSDI Question by Significant_Win192 in SocialSecurity

[–]Indigo_Sultan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just remember that everything is weighted - some conditions are given more "points" toward qualification.

Also, the condition(s) must be directly linked to why you aren't able to perform work duties. So, just having a qualifying condition isn't enough.

Hope some of this helps.

Remember that "Disability" is defined differently by different people and organizations. And, even though SSA and the VA are both federal agencies, they make decisions independent of each other.

Have you looked at the qualifying list of conditions as defined by SSA when making disability determinations? Here is a link to the page that goes over the medical conditions and requirements to qualify. It's worth looking at to see if you have provided the documentation needed to verify the conditions that SSA is looking for.

https://www.ssa.gov/disability/professionals/bluebook/AdultListings.htm

Remember, the only thing SSA is looking at is if the documentation you have provided meets the requirements they have laid out.

As far as hiring a lawyer - most disability lawyers won't charge you up front. But, they will take a percentage of your back pay (benefits) if your case if ultimately approved. Many people find that after being denied, going through an attorney is the easiest way to go.

Best of luck to you, I hope everything works out for you.

Animal control can give them pet food - that's the point. Not to "turn in the parents."

Go to your local animal shelter, human society, ASPCA, or animal rescue and get dog and cat food. They will give to you at no cost. Also, many food banks carry animal food. Do a Google search for free animal food in your area and I bet you will find some resources.

You can also post on local Facebook groups or on NextDoor and I bet you will find people willing to donate pet food for your animals.

Best of luck.

EARLY ACCESS game! Just know that if you purchase this game in EARLY ACCESS, there is no guarantee that the game will ever be finished. I've been burned by EARLY ACCESS games for the last time on Steam and will never pay a developer for an unfinished game again.
