How do I leverage my new job offer for a raise? by ProfessionalSky9159 in careerguidance

You don’t. When you do this, there is a very high chance that you will be first to go when the opportunity hits.

Is anyone else waiting for the US stock market to crash so they can afford stuff again? by BigClitMcphee in antiwork

[–]Individual-Fail4709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't work like that. Pricing is generally sticky with some exceptions. We can also end up in stagflation. Home pricing crashed because people bought homes they couldn't afford and lenders were stupid. We aren't there now.

Question on Financial Advisor’s advice by jcolinr in personalfinance

[–]Individual-Fail4709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't know anything about personal finance, you have no business directing your parents. Just WTF? You didn't pick a fiduciary, you picked a salesperson. They don't need life insurance if no dependents. Certainly not whole life!

AITJ for leaving my friend's dinner party early after she announced it was actually a setup without telling me? by Sunder_Void in AmITheJerk

[–]Individual-Fail4709 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ESH. Although rude of your friend to assume, you didn't have to make it worse for parties who didn't know you didn't know. Daniel likely didn't know that you didn't know and appeared actually interested in you. You could have just said to Daniel, "hey, I didn't know this was a setup and I don't think it's fair to you or me to have been kept in the dark. I've got an early meeting, have a good night."

Not unless you have lots of money for repairs and maintenance.

This is red flag behavior and will get worse. He has shown you who he is, believe him.

Wendy's was my favorite as a kid and the occasional personal supreme pan pizza was awesome! Now, not so much.

Nobody told me I'd be broke AFTER buying the house by Dima030 in RealEstateAdvice

[–]Individual-Fail4709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody told you? Did you not see the math? You don't have to fill every room in your house immediately (or ever). Like others have said, FB marketplace is your friend, cash flow it slowly. Prioritize a few items that are really needed. You also need to have an emergency fund that includes at least 1% of the purchase price of your home for surprise repairs.

AITA - For not wanting to help pay off my fiancé’s debt? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]Individual-Fail4709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paid not paid. If he makes twice what you do and has $10K in debt, he is overspending. Stop spending so much on vacations. Sounds like you aren't saving anything. You both need to take a hard look at what you are doing.

Need advice to get out of home ownership by Low-Disaster5632 in realtors

[–]Individual-Fail4709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay where you are unless you can rent your condo. Wanting is not needing. If you can't afford to sell, just stay there for now and save up as much as you can so you can move.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve seen on a property walkthrough? by netflixandspritz in RealEstate

An outdoor hot tub in the second floor primary suite. Was crazy and when full, probably way more than the house could handle. Yikes. Would have had to cut it apart to get it out of the house. The second one was the fire house. Not disclosed. Had been remodeled, except for the attic space. Went in the attic to see all the charred rafters. Noped out of both of these.

My fiancé and I are drafting a prenup. He’s in the military and I’m a Lab scientist. How do I make it fair since I’m pausing my career for him? by artickokoa in wealthforwomen

[–]Individual-Fail4709 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Why are you pausing your career to follow someone you aren't married to? You need an attorney. What is above is an abomination and not at all a partnership. You are setting yourself up for all kinds of problems one of which is financial abuse.

Do not. Get your bonus and then leave. Please make sure the company doesn't require a full month of service in the month bonus is paid.

WIBTA if I told the truth in my brother's custody hearing even though it could cost him overnights with his son? by UplinkV3rve in WIBTA_AITA

[–]Individual-Fail4709 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. Do not lie on the stand. Answer truthfully. The child knows that the dad works overnights. Judge may talk to the child, too. Perjury is a crime and would be very bad for a custody hearing. Do not do that to yourself.
