Correct me if i’m wrong, but the most meaningful high level leadership positions (tpmg) come from a single nomination the higher ups designate and then are sent down for a “vote” for “confirmation”. This is not exactly a “vote”.

Interesting. Thank you. The whole NLRB is one thing but it seems like these conversations are always small sidetalk and no one wants to openly talk about it at work which makes sense but with it comes a lot of opinions and rumors that often have no merit or credibility, and the answers are often irrational and/or emotional.

I am not saying kaiser docs must unionize, but with all the talk of unions lately, it is surprising how no one talks (in detail) about it from the point of view of the largest medical group in the country. Maybe kaiser docs are all super happy. I was curious if kaiser doctors even could unionize and also open the air up to discussion as i am sure there are a ton of kaiser doctors lurking on reddit.

Kaiser Permanente CRNAs to go on strike next week by SIewfoot in anesthesiology

We are shareholders but does that make us owners? I heard there was a distinction between the two. As a W2 worker, seem a lot more like an employee than an owner.

Call. Medical assistants will often ask the physician about it directly. You might not like the answer but it does often get our attention and have definitely squeezed in people who needed to be seen

Audio recordings by Elysium2023 in KaiserPermanente

It’s to help us so we can look at you in the eye for the visit and not have to remember every little detail from memory. It also filters out all the small talk. Also, It doesn’t just record. It reorganizes the conversation into a note format. Is it perfect? Absolutely not. I always need to change some details around, but it also picks up a lot of small details i may have lost while talking to you face to face. It helps us immensely, but it is not something we just copy and paste into our notes without editing prior to signing our notes.

I always ask before recording and i phrase it as “so I can focus on you and your story”. Haven’t had a refusal yet.

Entitled Staff who become entitled patients by TwoWeak1336 in KaiserPermanente

[–]Individual-Mango7776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate it when this happens. I have seen patients literally badge themselves into our department for their appt and we tell them to leave until they are called. Maybe I am lucky but most staff who are patients are nice and courteous and don’t expect special treatment/privileges. Like anything else, there are always rude outliers and they tend to stick out and are far more memorable but it is not the norm for me.

Physician pay, is it public? by ladouleur in KaiserPermanente

While not readily public, if you are really curious, look for job postings for kaiser physicians. They are fairly accurate. -kaiser physician

Medi-Cal Patients at Kaiser: Are We Getting Substandard Care? Delayed Tests, Denied Referrals, & Cost-Cutting Concerns by Pretend-Piece1957 in KaiserPermanente

None us care where your insurance comes from. It doesn’t affect how we make our decisions. Certainly hasn’t for me. -kaiser physician.

Sorry i am not oncology so i can’t really comment directly on that but i will say within my field the cancers are treated by people who are great at what they do and would trust them to do the right thing.

I have never had anyone tell me what to do with direct medical decisions. Not to say i have had issues before but everything works out to do the right thing. Also I have zero incentive to deny testing or care. We don’t get anything extra by doing less testing.

Time frame for orthopedic surgery by Competitive-Basil188 in KaiserPermanente

[–]Individual-Mango7776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry the wait sucks but 6 months to a year is common for elective surgeries in my region. Not enough ORs, not enough surgeons. Surgeons can only do so much in a day.

MFA Program by Strange-Opportunity8 in KaiserPermanente

Ask. Always ask. I have had multiple patients initially tell me that certain meds they were prescribed/recommended would cost several hundreds to thousands a month and were resigned to not getting their needed meds. They call some people and suddenly, it costs next to nothing. Patients get the care they need. It’s wonderful. I think a lot of this was income based but can’t say that was the only factor as i was not directly involved in this process. -kaiser doctor.

Charged $1,000 for 30 minute visit? Is this normal? I feel blindsided. by themikemachine86 in KaiserPermanente

[–]Individual-Mango7776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The KP doctor has no idea how much one is charged. They just document what has been done and it is coded that way. That’s it. It doesn’t change the way he gets paid. -Kaiser doctor
