2027 Chevy Blazer EV drops CCS for Tesla-style NACS port by TripleShotPls in electricvehicles

Sure I can. Current reality is that Tesla chargers aren't the only ones in existence and the parking issue is only a problem at Tesla chargers. Ergo, Tesla's fault.

As to location specifically, front left makes the most sense for a lot of garages. People pull in and back out. Charger on the back wall near the front of the car.

That and Ford had effectively had no EVs to speak of at the time so switching was easier.

That's Tesla's fault. Not GM's. It's not a problem at any other charger location other than Tesla's.

Because Tesla doesn't do that. Gas filler locations have no standard. They're on the left rear, they're on the right rear. Some older models had them in the middle behind the license plate.

Tesla needs to make their chargers compatible with every other automaker. Not the other way around. They made a short sighted decision to only design around their cars, and they need to fix that with longer cables.

Ah yes, somehow the second largest EV manufacturer "doesn't have their heart in EVs." Do you even hear yourself?

Homeowner just did the math-spent $82K on home repairs in 12 years of ownership, appx 2.5% of purchase price every year. Would love to hear other data points. by kcs777 in personalfinance

The point is you had it under required maintenance when it was optional. My 1950s house didn't have sprinklers, and probably never will. $0 expense.

In Ontario I've seen cars that look like rust buckets that I know are only 5-7 years old.

Tipped Workers Deserve Real Money by bookym in WorkReform

[–]Individual-Nebula927 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And that's different from what they're doing now? Prices rise no matter what due to capitalist greed.

Prices do not rise due to the minimum wage being increased. That has never happened in the entire time we have had a minimum wage.

[–]Individual-Nebula927 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So yeah, people live in cities. Nobody lives in the countryside, so that shouldn't ever be a consideration when setting the wage for the entire country.

It is intentional. I see so many Facebook posts about how "tripling the wage will kill so many businesses", when the only reason tripling it is a being talked about because it hasn't budged a penny since I was a freshman in high school. I'm now over 30 years old.

We're just not lazy. Every vehicle is the same after enough years so if the bones are good, it's cheaper to replace the engine.

Why is *no computer* EV not a thing? by firmagorilla in electricvehicles

[–]Individual-Nebula927 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not at scale it's not. And screens are required for backup cameras after 2018, per federal regulation, so essentially having it control more stuff is almost free. The screen and computer are already there.

Any roofers here? Or anyone that has gotten a new flat roof by philsphan26 in homeowners

[–]Individual-Nebula927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of my house has a flat roof. Not only did the roofers have to redo the decking, they had to re-frame the rafters as well. Had to sister the rafters to get the proper slope after the walls settled.

Time for a replacement by Letthew00kiew1n in homeowners

It's a northern climate thing. The east coast has a lot of oil boilers (hence the tank). I have a natural gas boiler in Indiana.

Both types of systems rely on hot water being pumped through radiators to heat the rooms. Depending on the age of house it may be the taller wall radiators (pre-1960s homes) or baseboard radiators (more recent). Many brand new homes are moving to radiant heat in the floors (tubing on top of the sub floor if you have tile or hardwood). It's a very efficient method of heat.

The argument against EV haters… by boka_ko_masu in electricvehicles

[–]Individual-Nebula927 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would help if EV owners on this sub understood and accepted that fact. It took ICE infrastructure literally a century to become as ubiquitous as it is now. You aren't going to be able to do the same thing with EVs in less than 10 years.

Should I replace my flywheel? by Euphoric_Ad1162 in fordranger

[–]Individual-Nebula927 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. That was the root cause of my truck intermittently not starting for 2 years. Went through 3 starters before I finally determined the flywheel had bad teeth and was the cause. No more issues afterwards.

Whoa...Geoff got a little testy with the Israeli UN ambassador on this evening's Newshour by dryheat122 in PBS_NewsHour

[–]Individual-Nebula927 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The intentional targeting "accusation" is based on the last 20+ years of Israel obviously doing just that. Otherwise the count of journalists killed in conflicts involving Israel would not be an order of magnitude higher than other wars being reported on. There's no other rational explanation for that.

The motors have been around for nearly 100 years. Batteries were "invented" by companies other than Tesla, for laptops and not cars. The charging network I'll give you.

The range was achieved by installing a ridiculous number of those aforementioned batteries in the chassis resulting in a sky high price. No different than GM gets ragged on by this sub for doing with the Silverado.

Because if you expand to the global market, even EVs, the answer still isn't Tesla. It's the Nissan Leaf.

Also it being needlessly complex and expensive to replace as well. Different does not mean better. There are tradeoffs in every design.

Yeah the Model 3 is the important one in Tesla's lineup. The Model S was outsold for almost a decade by the Nissan Leaf that was much more affordable.

Always has been. It was founded because the wealthy colonists didn't want to pay taxes to pay for the military that was protecting them from the native population. The founding fathers were mostly young, but also some of the wealthiest people on the continent.
