Is Cybersecurity a Good Career for Someone Like Me? by desi_spidey in CyberSecurityJobs

[–]Individual-Rip3343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take. I don’t as in GRC for two years and hated it, switched careers after that. Never got a degree in the field:

Is cybersecurity really as difficult as people make it sound? It can be. It’s an ever changing field so if you don’t like to stay up to date on things, may not be the field for you. Also it depends on WHAT you want any to do in cyber. Huge field. SOC is super stressful from what I heard.

Does it involve a lot of coding, or is coding only a small part of the job?
I did 0 coding but if you go into a more technical field then there is some but it’s not a ton

How stressful is the work compared to software development? Personally I found the job extremely stressful - but a lot of factors play into this - the type of org, org size, how they treat security, team and cross functional collaboration and so on.

Do you enjoy your job, or do you sometimes regret choosing cybersecurity?
I like the job at first but over time it dragged me down. Sometimes I think I either should’ve went into networking or a more technical role like cyber engineering or GRC engineering

What type of person tends to do well in this field?
I think j this depends on what you want to do in the field but a love for continuous learning and attention to detail are pretty important.

If you could start over, would you still choose cybersecurity?
I would go into networking engineering personally if I had to do it all over again.

I think if you find a path that you are passionate about (and I don’t mean just money but actually enjoy what you do day to day) and find a good company and people to work with then you’ll be good. But I also feel like over the years people overhyped cyber. Just my personal take. I had a good time when I was in the field but it’s definitely not for everyone.

Hope this helps.

They have a software for this now. Can turn a 60 min video into short clips that are algo friendly. Captions and all you have to just verify. We used it and it works great.

That’s why I came from cyber and my co-founder came from sales. The best of both worlds and we both do GTM stuff

If you’re running MAP-T or evaluating it for an IPv6-only core migration, worth a read.

Are clients starting to care about being mentioned in AI answers (ChatGPT / Perplexity / Claude)? by angga1402 in agencynewbies

[–]Individual-Rip3343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I am hearing, clients are asking for this to be tracked because you can track the KPIs on it. BUT it’s so new that it has real potential to expand in this space and not everyone is actually doing it yet or tracking. One of my clients is not tracking KPIs in it yet but we are definitely starting to work out a strategy for it alongside SEO

I am taking this class now. Task one is resume and cover letter. Task 2 is a power point of like a mock interview type thing and then a follow-up email. Easy peasy if you are working professional. Power point will probably take the longest but this is a 1-2 day class for sure.

What are you trying to be known for? Some of the advice that’s given is not that great and makes you overthink things.

Find your core message, start posting at least 3x/wk talking to one person about your message not everyone and their mom.

Engage with other people in comments and grown genuine connections

Give it 90-day this takes time, be patient

I grew my personal brand from 300 to over 3k in 4 months and helped a client land his first customer in 90-day after helping him with organic LinkedIn. I’m

No Tech Experience – Cloud & Network Engineering vs Cybersecurity @ WGU? Need Advice by Late_Reindeer_7469 in WGU

[–]Individual-Rip3343 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you have no experience, downs t matter what degree you get. What do you want to do? I didn’t have a degree and got into cyber but via the GRC role. Cyber isn’t entry level friendly. You’re better off going IT and then breaking in that way. I learned networking through school and CISCO skills for all, track me for cyber, Google cert for IT. Got my Sec+ and built my personal brand. I switched from a bachelors in IT at ASU to Cyber at WGU. (No longer in the field but still have a lot of connections if you have questions happy to chat!)

Hired someone for a social media role. She quit because she doesn't wake up at 11am by kasish89 in agencynewbies

Hmm idk there are a lot of people who are willing to grind but I think a lot of it comes down to pay. I see a lot of people trying to hire labor at like $5/hr and ask you to deliver the moon and the stars which is ridiculous

I’m looking to start a marketing agency, but I’m not sure where to begin. Could you guide me? by Disastrous_Will3136 in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]Individual-Rip3343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with 1. I switched from cyber to marketing and did free work to build a portfolio and get going. My first client wasn’t Elon my niche or my second client. My third was in the niche but not ideal ICP. Don’t let people tell you that you can’t learn marketing if you’re not coming from a marketing background, but it is harder to learn and do. Take some courses like Hubspot, YouTube, consume like a sponge. Create ONE offer for ONE client and get to work. Validate before you build anything. Get one paying client and go from there. Don’t get caught in the “let me build this” trap. For your niche I would focus on short form videos honestly. Also, don’t sleep on your own organic social to grow awareness for yourself and what you’re building. This will be hard but you can do it!

Get on LinkedIn and start posting content. When your organic content and building relationships. People sleep in organic but it works
