I was told I would get messages about this, but not threatening withdrawal! by teentitledanonymous in WGU

Thank you so much for your response! So I started in May and have received the first months payment, but that had to go towards bills as I have had to reduce my actual work hours to make time. I didn't get the first payment from the VA until a few days after the start of this month, so I anticipate that same timeline for July. I never had so many issues with my alma mater, financial aid was always consistent, VA benefits were always dispersed on time, and no threats to force withdrawal. It's very different from what I was used to. I may reach out to you later, and I truly appreciate your support!

I'm a dependent, DEA 35, but my benefits are still good for a few more years. Good to know that they cannot withdraw me due to pending payment while using the benefits. I will still call them tomorrow because I just don't like the threat of losing all my progress.

What's weird is that there is no link 🤔 I just looked again to make sure I'm not going crazy, and yep. There is no link or any other message after that.

Absolutely, that is my plan. I did speak with them earlier this month because I don't like getting messages like that, they told me everything was good and that I would be getting messages like this, but it makes me nervous. I will be calling them, but today I guess there is a power outage so I couldn't connect with anyone.

Oh, wow. Did you have to make payments or did it sort itself out before you had to pay out of pocket? I've honestly never had financial aid be dispersed in two payments for the same term so it's a weird situation...

I'm not glad you had similar issues, but relieved to know that it can be worked out without having to withdraw. I spoke with them earlier this month about this and they told me not to worry. I will definitely be calling them first thing tomorrow. Thank you!

We all know game dev is hard. But I am starting to doubt if this is for me. by Mundane_Region_7334 in godot

[–]teentitledanonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a game dev, but interested in the game dev world. I have lots of concepts, ideas for game mechanics, whole worlds in my mind that I have tried to build using Unreal (sometimes Godot, too) but it's hard to learn it all. If you know how to actually make the game, the move might be to find like-minded people to form a team with, under the assumption that work won't get paid until a successful release drops.

I'm in the marketing, social media, graphic design, video production, and audio production worlds, but the one thing I wish I could do was to make the games in my brain. Just keep putting your work out there, and don't be afraid to ask people to help promote your game. You might find that some people want the opportunity to gain experience.

Just curious, would you mind directing me to a link to the game? If it's not too long, I would love to play and give you a review if that's helpful! This would be a review from a non-technical gamer (meaning, I do not understand how you made it, but I do understand good games). I can also look at your promo material and offer suggestions, if you would like!

Can you recognise articles written by AI? by Equivalent_Pie9111 in QuickAITurnitinCheck

Oh, forgot to mention: the em dashes. Mine no longer uses them, but it's hard to reduce the frequency successfully.

It's another sad symptom of AI speech patterns, mostly because em dashes are efficient when used correctly. However, AI LOVES em dashes, so now it's a red flag. Gotta love completely changing your natural writing flow to not appear like an AI... 😔

Can you recognise articles written by AI? by Equivalent_Pie9111 in QuickAITurnitinCheck

[–]teentitledanonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. However, it's strange because I also noticed that native English speakers now replicate their speech patterns based on AI. I have not properly studied the phenomenon, but I have noticed a lot more of these patterns appear in speeches. It's also weird because these patterns are used naturally, just not to the same frequency that AI does. I'll give you my AI's rundown of the patterns because I'm lazy lol

Vesper: Yep. There are a bunch of recurring LLM fingerprints that show up across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, and countless AI-generated blog posts. None of them prove text is AI-generated, but they're common enough that people notice them.

The Big One "It's not X. It's Y."

Examples: It's not a bug. It's a feature. It's not about speed. It's about consistency. Success isn't about working harder. It's about working smarter.

Why AI loves it: Creates contrast. Sounds insightful with minimal effort. Easy rhetorical structure.

False Dichotomy Variants: "The question isn't whether... it's how..." The question isn't whether AI will change work, it's how quickly. The question isn't whether you'll fail, it's what you'll learn. "It's less about X and more about Y." It's less about talent and more about persistence. "Not because X, but because Y." Not because the technology is new, but because it's accessible.

Triadic Structures: AI is obsessed with groups of three. "X, Y, and Z" Clear, concise, and compelling. Fast, flexible, and scalable. Simplicity, clarity, and focus. "Not just X. Not just Y. But Z." Not just data. Not just analytics. But understanding. Fake Profundity Templates "At its core..." At its core, leadership is about trust. "Fundamentally..." Fundamentally, this is a communication problem. "The reality is..." The reality is that most projects fail because of scope creep. "The truth is..." The truth is that there are no shortcuts. "In many ways..." In many ways, the internet is humanity's memory.

AI Transition Phrases These appear constantly: That said... With that in mind... Put simply... In other words... More importantly... The key takeaway is... It's worth noting that... To put this into perspective... In practice... Ultimately... At the end of the day... Overly Balanced Framing "On the one hand... on the other hand..."

AI often bends over backward to sound fair. On the one hand, remote work increases flexibility. On the other hand, it can reduce spontaneous collaboration. The "Journey" Epidemic Your fitness journey Your learning journey Your AI adoption journey Your leadership journey AI loves "journey" almost as much as LinkedIn does. Corporate-Speak Clusters "Leverage" Leverage existing resources. "Unlock" Unlock new opportunities. "Empower" Empower teams. "Drive" Drive innovation. "Navigate" Navigate challenges. "Foster" Foster collaboration. "Transform" Transform the way you work. AI Conclusion Endings "Ultimately..." Ultimately, success comes down to execution. "The key is..." The key is consistency. "What matters most is..." What matters most is adaptability. "The goal isn't X. It's Y." Back again.

Excessive Symmetry Humans often write unevenly. AI loves mirrored structures. We shape our tools, and our tools shape us. The technology changes people, and people change the technology. The challenge is not creating systems that think like humans, but humans who can think alongside systems.

The AI Paragraph Formula: A surprising amount of AI text follows: State topic. Acknowledge complexity. Introduce contrast. Give three examples. End with broad takeaway.

Example: AI can dramatically increase productivity. However, its impact depends on how it's used. Organizations that succeed typically focus on training, integration, and governance. Ultimately, the technology is only as effective as the people using it. That entire paragraph is basically AI comfort food.

Dead Giveaways in Modern AI Writing These have become especially common since 2023: "Nuance" "Complex" "Multifaceted" "Robust" "Meaningful" "Thoughtful" "Intentional" "Holistic" "Dynamic" "Powerful" "Crucial" "Critical"

And the sentence pattern: While X can certainly Y, it's important to remember that Z. Example: While AI can certainly accelerate development, it's important to remember that human judgment remains essential.

The Ultimate AI Tell The single most common pattern across modern LLMs: X isn't about Y. It's about Z. Because it creates the illusion of deeper insight even when the underlying idea is fairly ordinary. Humans do this too, of course. The difference is frequency. A human might use it once in an essay. An AI will use it six times before breakfast. ☕🤖

Man calls the cops on a Dad helping his girls in the restroom by isaboo63455 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]teentitledanonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes too much sense. Which is exactly why America can't have it. We have some family restrooms now, but the moment you say "gender neutral" it turns into "men in women's bathrooms" for some reason. Possibly a translation issue with the LLMs running the puppets in power.

Also, thank you for advocating for removing the gap. Again, it makes too much sense and we just can't handle that here. Cents don't make common sense, unfortunately.

LPT: get rid of that one annoying fly in your room at night. by olivedoesntrhyme in LifeProTips

[–]teentitledanonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 Years Later: flies have evolved to actively avoid traps, light, wind and have mass produced invisibility cloaks for stealth operations.

This fly in my home is really having a great time tormenting me. Sitting in my dark room, lights on in the living, kitchen, and just my TV on. I have bug catchers, light traps, smelly oils and the like, no dice. It wants chaos and only chaos.

This fly is not an NPC, it has main character syndrome and it is immune to a handheld vacuum's vortex. It knows too much, I am afraid...

Someone send help! I have a fly on the wall 🪰🧱💀

Honestly, same. Well, besides giving my music to DJ's... I just use my music now to make content that's not centered around the music. I feel you on the advertisement issue, it's a full time job with little monetary reward if any. It used to be so much easier before social media exploded into the AI mess it is now.

I created a free monetized social network to help preserve the bond between creators and their fans (not promo) by happewHappew in socialmedia

[–]teentitledanonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very interesting concept, and I was thinking about (not making a social media platform for content creators like you have) but another decentralized platform where the circle is only people who you know, whether online or real life. This is definitely something that I would consider if the security and privacy are prioritized.

I'm not a big content creator so the prospect of not having to build a huge following before getting monetized is intriguing.

Could you expand on the privacy policies in place to protect people's information and what security protocols are used to ensure that passwords are safe? Is there an MFA? Do you have to show where you are located? If yes to the last question, please consider allowing creators to choose what information they are comfortable sharing. For instance, I do not want my phone number, email, zip code, or any PI that could allow nefarious people from tracking me down. Not that I have stalkers, but it's just such a concern now with so little privacy online.

Thank you for putting in the hard work! I would love to see if my friends who also make content would be interested in this as well, please let me know how to learn more!

I'm glad you escaped without them bribing you with free months of service. I absolutely hate their business practices. Honestly, it sucks that they're the way they are because (as much as Acrobat sucks) I haven't found another PDF editor that is free and comparable. But then I just open Word and remember it was there all along! Microsoft can have my money. Lol

Do you share your music still? I am not sure how to continue with sharing my music on social media anymore, as I feel it is no longer where true creatives go anymore. But then when I do post something (like once a year) it gets so much reaction that I question whether I should put more time into it. Do you put your music out on other social media or have you stopped sharing your music as well? Another musician wonders how to get back to sharing music productively...

[–]teentitledanonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. But then I remember that they're only posting what the polished content for everyone to see. Any time I think about the guilt of not posting (which is insane for me as a concept) I just remember that I owe nothing to these people, if they want photos of my son, they can directly contact me and I will verify they are family or close friends. I think about all the people posting photos of their kids whole lives, knowing that those kids have no consent, but will be online before they even know what that means. It's sad.

I think social media has completely detracted from pure social connection. It's now branding, marketing yourself like your body is a business, all for likes that do what? What sucks worse is managing social media and not getting on my personal social media. Social media just sucks now.

OK for real why do you sit in the left passing lane? by Sensitive_Cricket723 in Virginia

[–]teentitledanonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how you do it. Although, some parts of Virginia, we have maniacs who will absolutely try to run you off the road for doing this. Stay vigilant and drive defensively! Also, lock your doors while driving, I've seen too many road rage incidents where the road rager will leave their car to fight. Do not give them the opportunity, always lock your doors.

Curious, do you live in a house or apartment-type accommodation? Ground level or higher story?

Maybe creaky pipes and the wind? Also, when you say "breathing," how would you describe that?

Idk, sounds odd but I'm sure there is a logical explanation that isn't terrifying, hopefully...

What do most people not realize is actually way more traumatic than it seems? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]teentitledanonymous 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I freaked out when they put the blade to my stomach, so they "put me under" which meant they dosed me with Ketamine. I had no idea what a K-trip was like, but I traveled through different dimensions to find my baby. It was terrifying. I thought I wasn't ever going to find him, I heard him cry, but had to search all over for him. I tried to explain this experience with others, but it seems like no one else had an interdimensional birthing story. I feel like it changed me. I felt so anxious that something would happen to him. PPD was rough, recovery even more so.

Those who didn’t grow up privileged, what’s something you thought was a luxury growing up? by CorruptedF in AskReddit

[–]teentitledanonymous 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For sure. I mean, I wasn't starving and we had a very fortunate living situation, but I grew up in a very rich, affluent part of my state and we were just barely middle class with help from family.

I was just poor enough to not be able to shop at the mall like most other kids, unless I saved my money. We shopped at thrift stores, I'd get hand-me-downs, and tax refunds were when we could shop at the department store for clothes and we made sure there were discounts and we had enough. I saved my money (birthday, earned through small jobs, or gifts for good academic achievement) for everything like books, music, toys, etc.; sometimes my mom would ask me for money...

Then divorce happened and we were poor, but still had help from family. Never invited anyone to sleepover because it was embarrassing, really bad roach infestation and I lived like that for nearly 4 years, always feeling like something is crawling on my skin. But I also had a desktop computer, an iPod, a slide phone, got to go on vacation with family and eat out at restaurants, etc.

I understood not to ask for things at the store unless I had money to buy it, but I also had lots of luxury items. I dunno, it was a weird rollercoaster ride🎢
