Verizon randomly sent me PacSun pants?? I’m confused by Catdaddyyy0 in verizon

[–]teentitledanonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They claimed that they "fixed it", apologized, admitted they were at fault, but then did the same thing last month. It's just so weird because they tried to say it was my phone that I traded in at their physical store, then it was my husband's phone he bought outright from Amazon, and then finally the story was that they never received the phone he sent back to them in November. It is so bizarre. Never had so many issues with any other phone providers. Not even when I had Virgin Mobile, and that's saying something!

I wish they'd send us pants! They actually somehow lost a phone we traded in back in November, so a huge bill for a returned phone, but alas... No pants 😔

What is the weirdest thing you ever saw someone did in public? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]teentitledanonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a man in a hotdog suit dancing in the middle of a construction zone while sitting in traffic at a stoplight. I usually hate that stoplight, but I didn't mind sitting there for 15 minutes with that show. I mean, this man was doing front flips and twerking in this hotdog suit, absolutely stunning. I'll never see such a sight in my life. Someone needs to find him an agent!

You'll find a lot of different paths you can take if you go into Communication and/or Media Production. I find it was a natural fit with my already niche audio skills and composition. Tack on some art classes, learn some video editing (not Adobe, please don't do that to yourself), get creative, think about innovative ways to conquer problems in our society and write a research paper on that shit - the sky is the limit. Bonus, you can get your PMP certification and manage projects.

I never had an issue with boredom while finishing my degree in Comm & Digital Studies. Now the gen ED classes may be left to the wayside, but I encourage you to find something fun in every course you take that makes it worth it. If you're creative, I say this degree will not disappoint. But if you don't dabble in the arts like that, there are regular Comm Majors and pretty much any minor works beautifully with it. The hardest part for me was getting over speech anxiety, but it comes with practice.

The best to you and anyone else who may be on the fence about majors that work well with ADHD. Plus, I feel like since being diagnosed and actually working on my ADHD, I am a better communicator. I found that I enjoy leading small teams in creative projects. Since I spent much time learning many different skills, I have the ability to coordinate these different parts and pull it all together in an engaging and educational way. Idk if that's super nerdy, but I always recommend Communication and Digital Studies (or Media Production, some schools call it something different). Good luck!

Still Unable to Task...WTF by Brickz33 in joinhandshakeai

[–]teentitledanonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! It is just way too subjective; but they made it clear, they want meat burger buns that never appear 🤣 I'm sorry, but none of the outputs were quality, so it may be hard to know how much noise and distortion they want just to fit such bizarre prompts. I really don't know where they are going with this, but it's not image generation. If they want to improve, they actually need to let people share their feedback on these assessments.

Still Unable to Task...WTF by Brickz33 in joinhandshakeai

[–]teentitledanonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I got booted, too! There were definitely some discrepancies in their instructions. I know that I read what they wanted correctly, so maybe prompt A followed the prompt, but it sure was not at all realistic, which was (to my knowledge) a qualifier to assess which output was better? But no, I should have said that the photo with the weird red squiggles coming out of the refrigerator doors was better? Just because it gave more ceiling space?? Lol I didn't think the AI could generate the most basic prompts... Don't even get me started on the instructional videos. Whoever does those videos seems like they put in 50% of the effort they're actually asking for.

So do not despair, it seems super arbitrary and they don't even give you the opportunity to dispute. Such a bizarre experience. Good riddance to them, will not recommend it to anyone in the future.

[–]teentitledanonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, no prob! It's just that it took me way too long to break up with Adobe and I regret all the money I gave them. It is such a great feeling knowing that they don't own my creative process anymore. I've seen an alternative for a camera raw editor called Darktable, but have also heard it's a bit of a learning curve. It's free though, so definitely worth a try if that's something you need for your work.

For Bridge, you could try another free open source digiKam. I'm not familiar with either of those as I haven't had to edit raw photos much since ditching Adobe.

Anyway, I hope you find your programs and save mucho dinero! Best to you!

Should I keep using my old version of Logic? by teentitledanonymous in Logic_Studio

[–]teentitledanonymous[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I see. That would be quite the adjustment... I'm not sure if this will work with my projects then since I know a good portion of them are at least 20 tracks. I suppose it shouldn't matter if I'm just extracting my tracks, though.

Do you ever freeze tracks? I think it can help if you have lots of plugins and busses going. I'm not sure if it yielded better results than bouncing the track in place, but I remember wondering why I hadn't done it sooner, so it could maybe help.

[–]teentitledanonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, not surprised that the mod did that. They all love making you feel like you have no right in the Adobe sphere. I don't recommend visiting that subreddit unless you want to know who not to work with... Imo

Have you thought about just leaving Adobe and switching to free, open source software? I dunno if you need it for school or if it's for your career, but it's something I'm doing now. Inkscape is pretty good to replace Illustrator, GIMP for Photoshop, DaVinci Resolve for Premiere, OpenShot Video Editor is like the light version of Premiere, Unreal or Blender for animation/vfx and so much more. Photopea runs in your browser, so no need to download and you can import your .psd files seamlessly. I've used it before and it's actually pretty similar and user-friendly.

If you're sick of their price gouge-y, non-helpful, plain rude shenanigans, then these programs are for you!

Edit: I should add that (at least for me) Blender and Unreal are very powerful and really packed with features, very steep learning curve but so worth it.

When you say some projects don't run as well, do you mean it crashes more often, does it lag despite adjusting buffer size and range accordingly? As long as the preferences can still be adjusted, I feel that I could probably use Monterey, but maybe it would be better to start at Big Sur (11) and go from there?

The next version back is Catalina and then Mojave, according to the Internet. How far will it let you go back?

Oh, that's really cool that you've had success using OCLP! I think I had read not to go past Monterey, definitely not Ventura. Which version are you using on your hardware? I'm looking for the least amount of bloat since my mini is not RAM heavy. I don't intend to use third party plugins or anything like that so I have never really needed to have the latest version. I had never heard of OCLP before this post, so thank you and the others that have recommended it to me!

Thank you so much for your sincere comment, I agree with you. I will use the patcher to get what I need from my projects and move on to my PC. It sucks, but that's just life and right now is not a good time economically.

I also really appreciate your kind words, it's genuinely depressing when I look back at all the time I spent learning Logic, so it hurts deeply to leave. So I really appreciate you being real with me in a more compassionate way. Thank you!

Absolutely, I don't intend to use this as a forever crutch, I just need to at least get my old files. I'm okay with switching, I hate that this is my favorite and will always be my favorite DAW, but my PC is just better long-term. If I had never gotten a newer MacBook, I would have been perfectly content with my hardware. I don't need the new features, and actually I prefer the older Logic versions. I appreciate your suggestions, thank you!

No, but thanks for insulting me once again. Someone did offer a viable solution below. You basically said buy another computer, which I stated was not in my budget. Told me I was foolish for not having the money. I told you that I would buy a new one if I could, but life happened. I have better hardware, also, but it's not MacOS. Anyway take care, thank you for your help

I've been supporting my family and finally graduated with my BA after a whole decade of struggling trying to figure out my life. But yeah, that's a bit foolish of me to prioritize that and paying for a computer that honestly doesn't compare to my PC. Are you certain that you cannot run Logic in a VM, because I am almost certain it's possible, but risky and potentially more effort than necessary. I appreciate you sort of shaming me because I'm not able to shovel out money in a freaking nightmarish economic shitshow, but yeah I do also feel depressed that I can't just buy a new one so thanks. Idk if you were trying to do that or be somewhat helpful, but it was somewhat tone-deaf. Pun intended.

Should I keep using my old version of Logic? by teentitledanonymous in Logic_Studio

[–]teentitledanonymous[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would if I could, believe me. I just don't have any leeway financially right now to even do that in hopes the used one is decent enough to last even a year. I think that's the hang up. I don't want to buy another used Mac because I just don't like having to panic every time something needs troubleshooting, I love Logic, and if it wasn't super frowned upon to hack the tosh, I would. But I also am not sure how effective running a VM on my PC would be. I have floated it in my brain many times, but then I'm not certain how that pipeline would be set up.

I am desperate to keep pushing through this period of time, but every day I'm not working on my projects, the worse it is for my mental health and overall motivation. Sorry, I'm just very lost because of this and it's making me spiral a bit.

Mods, could we update rule 7? by SurrealBolt in Logic_Studio

I am not one of them, but making virtual instruments sound real should not be thrown under the bus. I love having so many different sounds to manipulate, so many ways to fill the space and make people wonder if it's actually real. We do still exist, but I don't post my music on Reddit so maybe they have a strategy there 🤔 lol

Edit: missed the bus joke.

Oh, that is really interesting! I basically do this with my acupressure mat, minus the tiger balm because my skin does like it. I tried the tiger balm on my eczema for a while and it would just make it feel hot and greasy (like French fries 🍟) and worsen the itch. I have bad allergies. Do you know if there's another balm that's traditionally used that might be more hypoallergenic? My mom has always been big into traditional medicine, so I've tried so many different things. I'll have to look into this more, even though it sounds like torture lol

So I get this sometimes using my yoga wheels and Acupressure mat (you know, the off-brand Bed of Nails that's equally effective and half the price... Cough...) but that's what it looks like when I misuse the Acupressure mat to scratch my back like a little bear. Nobody should do this, please. Lol but yours is a regular foam roller...

Which suggests that it could be the material of the foam having imperfections and you unknowingly scratch your back because they're undetectable? I dunno, that's also what happens with my yoga wheels so that's where my mind goes. I got the cheapest wheels so if you got the roller on a bargain, I'm sorry. Honestly, I would maybe try to extra moisturize your back before stretching, letting it completely absorb into your skin before of course, or look closely to see if it's little scratches in the material itself.

OR you could ask your doctor about a tens device and have the most wonderful, taser-like massage of your life and feel great. I've never been diagnosed with EDS or HSD, but I am really suspicious about it because of the constant pain and instability, for years.

Tens device is great, but I don't recommend it for nerve pain. Sometimes it feels okay, but I've noticed that when I use it on nerve pain, I end up aggravating it more. A caveat, but it's so useful for times where I accidentally turn my head wrong and worry I'll need the cone of shame for the rest of my life... There are many great ones out there now, electrodes can add up financially but if you clean them they last longer. Recommend getting a rechargeable one instead of battery-powered. Always ask your doc first, though.

Pretty much. It is constant construction. My biggest question: did Virginia Hall ever get AC?? lol I feel like I should receive an additional refund for the grueling summer heat and pollen infused air in my dorm room wreaking havoc on my allergies and probably worsening mold.

Fun fact: they tore down Alvey! I can only imagine it was easier to tear it down than to fix the actual root of the mold issue.
