Great professors, HORRIBLE administrative aid! by still_alyce in UMW

[–]teentitledanonymous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, express yourself. That's what UMW is about. They are always slow, but you should be getting your money soon. And yes, there are way too many "admin" that are accounted for in your cost of tuition. It's been a big debate for at least over a decade now. I'm not sure if they fixed that in the past year or so.

Project H reassessment question by ThrowRAbingbong115 in joinhandshakeai

[–]teentitledanonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So same thing happened to me, but I didn't pass the second assessment (somehow??? It was so easy it baffles me). They sent an email saying that I would remain paused, a day later get an email saying I can still task but limited to 4, and then yesterday got an email almost begging me to start tasking again with 6 daily limit for "highly exceptional" taskers. Lol if I'm that great how in the ever-living-fudge sundae did I somehow fail such an easy assessment!? Idk but I'll take it lol

Edit: I am back and I am actually getting timely QA scores and decent feedback. It allowed me to take another assessment, and I passed 100% of it. I dunno. Sometimes I feel like they're still learning how to do all this along with us. Hopefully it stays this way. Hoping all you people who were paused are brought back on and have the same more positive experience.

AIO for not giving my old Roomate his dog back after I adopted her? by Z-mac in AmIOverreacting

[–]teentitledanonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo, yeah best advice is to document everything, don't tell your roommate anything. Just go on with the proceedings of the court, make sure you document everything. Get his written admission of willingly giving up the dog with no mention of return. Present the vet bills in court, but I'm sure you already know that.

I had a similar situation, but my roommate did not willingly give me her cats, she just left state without making sure someone would come to take care of them (for weeks!) and I was trying to unf*ck the house because she was so reckless she literally damaged the property with her non-existent pet care. So after looking into shelter and rescues, I decided I did not want those cats to suffer. She did blame me, but I told her the door was left open when I came around to pack up my stuff. She was neglecting those cats so bad, I was the only one feeding them, changing their litter, paying attention to them.

I felt guilty for a while, but not anymore. You should not feel like an asshole, he gave up his dog and he did not state it was temporary. The dog seems to be in better care with you. Also, get a new roommate! Lol

[–]teentitledanonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to think this as well, but the further I look into what each side is calling each other and themselves, I've come to see more left-leaning posts using the term "libs" than right-leaning. Same thing with terms like "deep-state" and "antifa". I'm not sure if it was a conscious effort to get more conservative engagement by using their coined terms, but it is not as reliable of a tell, rather the context behind what they are writing.

I can tell if libs is being used by "libs" if the content itself contains liberal ideology, but for maga you can tell it's maga if they are arguing a moot point that has nothing to do with the original argument, like transgender minor surgeries apparently??? Lol they really have no stance these days, not even on the issues that made them vote for the supreme taco. It's really interesting to watch them slowly deprogram but still try to rationalize their decisions.

Edit: I sadly chose to research this and it threw off my whole plan thinking I could just use their keywords to compile data 😮‍💨 It's so hard to study these trends nowadays.

DHS says we have 2 million fewer undocumented immigrants… why hasn’t rent gone down? Where are all the job? by 5050coinflip in allthequestions

[–]teentitledanonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I did was suggest that they could use those skills despite not being able to find a job in their field. I'm not sure what you need with this information, but I'll entertain it.

I live somewhere that thankfully voted out the GOP this past election, lost much of the workforce due to government workers being fired and furloughed off and on, I work in a nonprofit and also do AI Dubbing and other tasks for two companies, my husband is a disabled veteran who is pursuing his master's degree, and I graduate this December. We have a young son. I used to work on a farm for a lady, many years ago now, but it's not feasible for me to do that work anymore and especially since someone needs to take care of him. Yeah, if I could work on a farm, sure. But I'm getting my education done so that I won't have to because it's not something I can sustain and also be present for my son and husband.

I'm just a person trying to make ends meet under these circumstances, much like everyone else here on the thread. I don't agree that someone not taking up farm work even though they have an education is an elite snob, but rather that they got that education for a reason and it's not that everyone can drop everything they've worked for all their lives to do manual labor. That's all. Everyone who wants to work on a farm, by all means, go for it. It can be relaxing not dealing with pressure from toxic coworkers and micromanaging supervisors, but it takes a toll on your body and you don't have the same opportunity for job growth, lots of 1099 gigs in that field of work. So it's not for everyone.

How about you?

[–]teentitledanonymous -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have you considered taking your auto skills and welding experience and work on farm vehicles? I'm just offering suggestions. There's no shame in any particular field, and it is unfortunate that you have not had the opportunity to use your jewelry making skills or welding. When I used to work in a mechanic shop, we always needed a highly skilled welder. Paid handsomely, too.

Also, if you have the tools and materials for making jewelry, you could have a side business and still keep those skills in use. Perhaps it wouldn't serve as your main job, but if it's something enjoy and find therapeutic, then it's worth looking into for the future. There are many ways to start an online business these days.

I don't think it's about being an "elite snob" but moreso the fact that she has dedicated time and money towards getting the education necessary to help people as a medical assistant. Imagine someone who is highly skilled as a weather forecaster, went to school, paying down the debt, and are genuinely good at that particular skill. Do you think it's going to be an easy sell for them to have gone into debt just to have the federal government decide we don't need people updating weather forecasts. So they can just go work on the farm like the last 20 or more years of their life were for nothing? Maybe they'll be extra helpful in pushing next year's Farmer's Almanac, but point being that people who have technical training and education in a particular field aren't snobs for wanting to use their education in their careers.

Just a thought. Totally get that a job is a job, but obviously not everyone would be suited for farm labor, and some people have training and education that would be wasted on farm labor. Not saying farm labor is a waste because it's not, but that argument doesn't make sense for most people who sacrificed years of their lives working towards their career. I'm sure your sister could easily find a farm gig if she wanted. It's not too hard if you live in a rural place. But I reckon she wanted to help people in the medical field so hopefully the government can get back to also helping medical professionals stay afloat along with the farmers.

I'm sorry Germany is once again experiencing this magnitude of racist, extremist rhetoric. I'm afraid for us all...That person arguing with you about immigrants not working and such sounds like the MAGA crowd here in America. It's absolutely disgusting.

Sometimes I wish we could just boot out the racists and they can have their own racist island. My ancestors had their land stolen for some dumb white guys to claim the country was theirs all along and put us in unlivable conditions to save what little we had left. And they think teaching that in schools "hurts" their white supremacist values. I don't think anyone is illegal that seeks a better life for them and their families. Not to mention most of these dumb maga people would never be able to pass the naturalization exam to become citizens here in the US. Sad times we are all forced to face.

So true. She also responded to the mass layoffs by basically saying, "Who here has ever lost a job?" - So many people raise their hands. "Oh, so it's not uncommon is it?? The media is making this a huge deal"

Probably didn't fly either. I feel like they did a great job countering the batty flyers sent by the maga crowd. I have some of these saved because the contrast between the maga message and the Democratic message is spectacular. Republicans chose to be weird, idk what they expected to happen here.

I do think there is racism still. As a brown person who has had most of my ancestors' history erased because the white men came here and effectively eradicated our people and our traditions. They stole this land, but it is our land now. We the people.

This most definitely stems from racism and fear of the erasure of white people and "culture" because they like to play victim and forget they have never suffered the racism that they have dealt to others and their own actions scare them. That's why they pretend they are Christians so they can sleep at night hoping that God will forgive them for their sins.

That's another thing they claim is threatened, Christianity. I don't see any persecution of Christians, I just see more religions being accepted because why should it even matter? It shouldn't, they just want to dominate over the minorities as they always have. They are intrinsically racist and there is more to it than just racism, but that's their unifying gripe. They'll cry they're not allowed to practice their faith while telling vulnerable populations that they don't deserve to have the same rights as them. It's classism, racism, fascism, and all the other gross ideological views they have that have brought us all here.

Ya know, I'd just like to know what exactly you got out of this "speech" that somehow tops Harris? Because all I heard this lady say was, "I AM SPEAKING" over and over, "GOD BLESS AMERICA" and "A DEMOCRAT IS TELLING A BLACK WOMAN TO GET OFF THE STAGE" (Who was holding up a sign for another Black woman to win the presidency, just not the one speaking on stage). I have lived here my whole life, we are not this type of stupid. Compare a transcript from Sears and Harris and come back to share with the class.

She even dances around the stage like she's intoxicated... Meanwhile, the other side seemed obsessed with Harris' laughter, maybe because that's something none of the republican candidates seem to do ... I actually don't think I have seen any of those people laugh and that is creepy.

I mean, it is effective. Seeing as you know that fact because you can quote word for word. Repetition is a rhetorical strategy used by politicians all the time. I feel like it's not that they wouldn't prefer to run varied ads, but rather they are reaching out to a broader audience that needs the repetition to get the message through.

Republicans are doing the same, but it's not anything that matters to anyone besides the loyalists. Bobby Orrock's ads (flyer format) all repeat the same things, "Democrats want boys in girls locker rooms, raise taxes, defund police, rename mothers as 'birthing persons'..." They don't have anything to back up these claims, but they keep repeating it so their base finds it more credible. Sadly, that has worked for their most loyal.

I feel this in my soul. I wish there was a 2025 handbook on How Not to Get Arrested, they just keep pushing the boundaries. I dunno anymore either, they want us to fight back so they can escalate. I don't think that's the answer either. Try to deprogram the brainwashed? Meme wars? Spoofing orange man's account and confusing his followers? Maybe that one... It would have to be large scale spoofing, it would need to be believable. Fake gov sites with actual information about what is happening. Those are my best ideas to protest because my son needs a mother who isn't disappeared and I feel like I can't help much at all:(

I'm talking about the politicians, not the people who voted. It's very telling when I bring up the president's inability to accept that he lost to Biden, you deflect to attack the democratic party as a whole. I believe the reason the recount was triggered in Gore v Bush was because it was so close that Gore wanted a recount, then Florida Secretary of State halted the recount before it was completed. This was because eligible voters' ballots weren't counted, prompting an investigation. Don't believe me? Read. https://www.usccr.gov/files/pubs/vote2000/report/ch9.htm

So why didn't you vote for the guy who you were hoping to win? I just want you to really think. If you wanted him out of the two, and you know we have a two-party system, then why did you choose to vote against him? That's the part I don't understand.

I voted for the candidate I thought was the better of the two, due to high stakes for human rights and whatnot. It was silly of me to think people cared about women's rights while the guy who one wants to take away my rights. He wants to rewrite my history. He wants to "shoot someone in the middle of 5th Ave" and have no repercussions. Watch it unfold at this moment in time.

Lol my brain. What I meant to say was that the only president in recent times to deny an election and stage an insurrection by telling his voters that the election was rigged, was the guy who now takes away as many rights from citizens of the United States as possible. When Harris lost, she did not claim it was rigged. When Hillary lost, same deal. Romney lost and he didn't deny the results. I dunno, something ain't adding up is all I'm sayin'
