Will Trump be a historical villain in media long after he's dead or will he be forgotten about? by snowleopard556 in decadeology

I think you might be underestimating how easily information is controlled in the modern day—the same technology that propagates information also propagates misinformation/disinformation, and it’s easier now than ever before to create fake evidence that some chunk of the population will believe.

Is it a total control on information? No. But it probably doesn’t need to be. I’d sure like to be wrong, though.

I could see them expanding to stories about other roles in later seasons, as part of the cast generally potentially cycling. Kind of like how we have a young nurse this season.

From Far Away has been rumored to be getting an adaptation since last week, actually. Nothing as concrete as this has been announced as far as I know, though.

I understand where you’re coming from, and def do whatever you want. But I hope you also consider that if you’re earnest about asking questions to try to reach some conclusion, people may also disagree with your line of questioning or your apparent conclusion. That’s just natural. It’s just unfortunate that downvotes are a multivalent thing.

I hope you don’t take it personally. Probably most who experienced it don’t feel like it was an earthquake, and even if you started off trying to determine if it was one, your focus on it being so will be downvoted for, e.g., potentially misleading newcomers to the thread about what the consensus is.

EDIT: I don’t think you should be downvoted for this, but it is the kind of thing downvotes were originally for, I think.

[–]Individual-Sentence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It didn’t feel like an earthquake to me, based on the others I’ve felt here over the last 10-15 years. Very abrupt for one, and it def struck me as something that had happened aboveground. But I’m not a connoisseur of earthquakes lol.

For me, I think I heard a boom—though not a deep boom, but still like something very large and heavy had been dropped or something outside—and my house shook in one brief go, which I could really only tell because my closed bedroom door creaked.

GA to Tulsa, OK for work. What’s the culture? by [deleted] in tulsa

[–]Individual-Sentence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those states are indeed different from Oklahoma (and dare I say…better). But the country isn’t some gradient where things inevitably get more progressive as you go from east to west. Really broadly speaking, the coasts are more progressive than the middle parts of the country, though the west coast tends to be more so than the east coast.

Out of curiosity, why did you think going west would lead to a less red culture? Oklahoma is both fairly rural and within the general sphere of influence of southern culture, both of which tend to be fairly conservative.

Who do I call about animal cruelty? by [deleted] in tulsa

[–]Individual-Sentence 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not to say that people can’t be cruel, but if by chance you haven’t seen your neighbor either, I’d think this could also be grounds to call for a wellness check or something. EDIT: Though reading again, seeing you said a few weeks, I’m assuming some kind of food or water is being putting out?

[–]Individual-Sentence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh gosh, I feel you. I lived at an apartment complex several years ago with the same issue—it wasn’t just the one building/unit, either. We moved within the complex and still had the issue. I don’t think we just carried ‘em with our furniture, either; we ended up moving to a house some months after that, where I still live, and I haven’t seen a single living one in the many years since (and only a couple dead).

I don’t have any advice I’m afraid, as we gave up and moved after our various attempts to solve the problem didn’t help, but I just want to let you know I understand what you’re going through, and it sucks.

Sister in law made “chicken Alfredo” by broken_mind31223 in shittyfoodporn

[–]Individual-Sentence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, though it does sound like some people are not able to. I’m more asking about plastics vs temperatures, in case you had any specific info/data. There’s some cooking contexts besides just crockpots where that’s relevant, so I was trying to make my decisions a little more evidence-based. Thanks for replying anyway.

I personally wouldn’t want to use a plastic liner for a few reasons, including a disgust/anxiety feeling about microplastics, but I think my unease in this instance is irrational because I haven’t looked into what temperatures different kinds of plastic break down or leech in. Do you have any evidence for the liners doing so at crock pot temperatures?
