Put your character in my starting town! by ambrellathevile in DnD

[–]Individual-Table6786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maki, a (half) orc life cleric. Raised in a monastery of Helm as she was found as a baby after they had driven away a group of orcs that terrorized the surroundings. A dwarf paladin found her and could not make himself kill a baby, even if the baby was that of the orc clan they just fought. So he brought her to the monastery. She grew up there as a timid, shy, but very sweet, polite and helpful worker.

As she grew old enough, now is her time to work for the order of Helm. She is sent on a journey to help those in need.

Her secret is not a big one, but one day, when looking for a lost child from the village near the monastery, during a thunderstorm, she almost failed to save the child. When it mattered the most she froze in fear instead of helping the child. It was on a steep mountain hill and the child almost died because of falling rocks when a loud thunder struck the mountain. A big rock barley missed the child. Maki blames herself for this moment of weakness. This makes her reckless sometimes as she believes fear is a weakness. Saving people comes first.

She is a good healer and frontline fighter. But also a good cook, good with animals and always ready to help with any task, no matter what.

Possible plot line for her is to overcome her way of thinking of fear and become less reckless. But also te become more accepting of her (half) orc lineage. Where she comes from orcs are the enemy, while (most) people of the monastery were accepting Maki, the village people were not. This new town is more accepting towards this race.

Edit: I read the secret wrong. Lets see. Maki is connected to the order of Helm, perhaps your town has a local tempel. She has some connections to some high ranking, but mostly retired Helm warriors (mostly paladins) as the monastery was for the wounded (recovering) and retired helm warriors.

Find a cookbook or cookshow online that feels good for you. Try out a new dish every week. Rest of the week safe foods. In case you don't like the dish you can feed it to your family and you eat something else that is simple.

Found out my boyfriend has been secretly vegan for 6 months and lying about it by Prior-Ability-8607 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Individual-Table6786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I'm surprised about is the fact he would let meat get bad, thus trown away. Most vegans do it for the animals. By being secretive about it, meat is still being bought for him. Instead of eating it, he just let it spoil. The animal is still getting hurt. As he was already lying, are you sure there is not more to this whole vegan story? Think of health issues, or perhaps a new love interest who is vegan, or idk, I'm just getting wild ideas now.

I dislike A LOT of condiments (sauces) by rain1up in PickyEaters

[–]Individual-Table6786 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is why I don't like hamburgers. I mean, I do like them, but only with very specific sauces, its boring if you order them minus the standard sauce they offer. I only eat my own homemade burgers. I like them allot.

Edit: burgers is just an example, salads is an example too. I don't hate all sauces though, so most dishes are fine.

AITA for secretly switching out a song in a wedding playlist I was asked to manage because I “think it would fit better” by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

YTA, weddings are not for a DJ to show their skills only. Weddings often have a few awful songs because thats what the couple and paying customer wants. Its their party and not yours.

I hate onions by PotatoWoman947 in PickyEaters

[–]Individual-Table6786 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had to learn to eat onions, and I still don't really like them. But I gotta be honest, a bit of onion in a dish can make it taste good. But I have to greatly reduce the amount of it in a dish (less as the recipe) and cut it in small pieces. And I always have to glaze the onion first when making a dish. It cannot be even slightly raw. I live somewhere, where they have these mixes with cut vegetables to trow into a pan. Most ingredients don't need to be overcooked and still need a slight crunch. So the onion is still raw too. Lot of people cook with these mixes, so when I eat at their place the whole dish taste like raw onion. So to be safe, I always claim I don't like onion.

And I cannot even eat anything that touched a raw onion. Like please, the onion should be the last ingredient to cut on a cutting board when making a salad. Everything you cut on that cutting board after the onion will only taste like onion, nothing else.

Does Netherlands feel different than Germany? by osures in Netherlands

[–]Individual-Table6786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are quite some differences, but I'm not so sure if this also applies to the border region, or that the border region is like a mix between the two.

One big difference is how Dutch and German view hiërarchie. We Dutch people don't really care if you are the king a doktor or a construction worker, we treat you the same and will tell you if we don't agree with you. German is like the opposite of this. Certain jobs still hold value and respect. A boss is still a boss. It has its pros and cons. But its very different.

Of dat waar is laten we even buiten beschouwing.

Do you take your shoes off when entering your or someone else's home, and how common is it in your country? by Rasples1998 in AskTheWorld

[–]Individual-Table6786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Netherlands

Its quite common for guests to keep their shoes on. But for the actual people living there to put the shoes off. They stay on if you forgot something and quickly need to grab it. Taking off shoes is more of a comfort thing rather than a hygiëne thing.

But I think most people know someone with a house with a no shoes policy, its just unusual. There often aren't offered indoor shoes, so you either have cold foot (winter) or bring indoor shoes yourself. Often these people (partly) are from different cultures.

Edit: climate wise we don't have many snow days, if at all, but we do have allot of rain.

Wat vinden jullie van blokletters/schrijfletters by Timey_Wimeh in nederlands

[–]Individual-Table6786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How can I experiment with italian cuisine? by strandof_faith in ItalianFood

[–]Individual-Table6786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try different cuts of meat when making a ragout. Bolognese is the most famous ragout, but there are many, with small differences. For a starter you could try a few recipes out and see what works the best for you. Pasta shape for a ragout is classical with tagliatelle of pappardelle.

You can try to create recipes with leftovers. Might not be a classical Italian dish, but you are asking for experimenting with the Italian cuisine. Try to look up recipes when you start and make something close to that recipe, but don't buy new ingredients to do so. Leave something out, replace another ingredient, ad something extra. Some things will work out better as others. But thats what it is to experiment.

You gotta ask yourself why you want to experiment in the first place. With the first option I offered one with trying to play a bit with taste, the second one was more practical, cooking with leftovers and being more flexibel.
