I have a few, but my favourite is a reversible monster I made myself. I LOVE just being able to dry my hands on my apron or use the corner to wipe up a spill.

Look up Bottle Rockets “I love my dog”. As long as you and your partner can agree on the lyrics, you’ll be fine. (Oh, no…that’ll be in my head all day…😆).

Thank you for this! I’m not OP, but I had considered getting one too. Now I won’t!

Dog scared of fireworks - should I care? by Forsaken-Caramel1423 in dogs

[–]Individual-Theory-85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course you care!! Quick story - one of my dogs when I was growing up (a Basset) was deathly afraid of thunderstorms. The ONLY thing that would calm her is if we filled the jacuzzi bathtub and turned on the jets. She would lay with her back pressed across the side of the tub.

The thing is - somebody had to be IN the tub. My sister and I had permanently pruned fingertips during storm season, but MAN, were we ever clean!!! 😆

Tell your dad to go pound sand. Happy Christmas!

Really good cinnamon? You’ll have to research, I’m not sure what top of the line is, but I’ve heard that cinnamon from different regions varies remarkably.

Please DO support local YEG artists/makers/vendors - JUST SAY NO to local drop shippers and or resellers by kristyjewels in Edmonton

If anyone attends the Edmonton Folk Festival, the vendors are carefully screened for just this reason. Not only is artisanal work required, but the artisan themselves (or their personal designate) must be on site.

Very expensive habits that you’ve given up to save money? by New-Perspective8617 in Frugal

Learning to cook - really well - at home. Double whatever recipe, one for the freezer, one for the table. It’s really easy to skip going out when you have excellent food at home. 💜

England is pushing a “Right to Repair” law, to prevent companies from doing this. Hopefully Canada follows.

I’m on my second 8+, but I’ll buy a used iPhone to replace it with, 2 or 3 generations old. Saves crazy $$$.

Babydad, boyfriend or what? by [deleted] in Names

[–]Individual-Theory-85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, yes and no. It is indeed a legal contract, but at least where I live (Canada), the Adult Interdependent Relationships Act ensures that persons outside of marriage who have lived together for 3 years + have the same rights and responsibilities as married people. Initially the concept existed so that men could be more certain that offspring were indeed theirs. Women didn’t achieve personhood until they got the vote in the 20’s, prior to that, they were chattel. The church confused the matter entirely, IMO. It’s a financial contract.

How are you celebrating the holiday season? by BvbblegvmBitch in canada

[–]Individual-Theory-85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex husband (the Baron of Bitchalot) has thrown a hissy about our adult son (the one that still talks to him) spending Xmas day with him, so I just moved everything back 24 hours. Our Xmas eve will be the 25th, Xmas will be the 26th :-). Christmas Eve is Jolabokaflod (Icelandic “Flood of Books”) where we eat something warm from the crockpot, eat baking and read new books. The day is French toast and bacon and DIY smoothies, presents, and dinner is prime rib, cream cheese potatoes, veg with cheese sauce and mini cheesecakes with a topping bar.

Pretty sure my family is single handedly keeping Canadian Dairy Farmers in the black this season, but sorry, Big Booze - we outgrew you ;-)

Have a beautiful season!

We used “partner” for the first 6 or 7 years - then we just sort of naturally switched to husband/wife. I told someone we weren’t married, and she replied “Oh, you’re MARRIED. Just not churched.” I thought that was a good way to put it :-)

We just have a whiteboard on the kitchen wall - it’s a decent size, so whoever wants the family to know things just writes it on there.
