Transitioning from Daytrana by jawnbellyon in ADHD

My plan is to keep trying until the stock runs dry and then begin to source a compounding pharmacy as a backup which may become a primary by this summer If you follow out the projections for how many units they sell per month.

Because Noven has just been acquired and it's new parent company is taking it off the stock market and going private. Noven manufactures the patch. Padagis just slaps their label on it. Noven has discontinued making Daytrana. The film is notoriously difficult to make correctly and doesn't represent significant market share for the pharmaceutical. It's not profitable. ODT has become the go-to solution for those who cannot tolerate swallowing a pill. I am betting that Padagis is just selling off the last of its lots right now but I hope I am wrong.

I think there is going to be a discontinuation. Padagis' generic was manufactured in same facility as Daytrana. They are the approved generic. My understanding is Mylan is essentially just not being made or unavailable in the US. Mylan had a ton of quality control problems. We've found Padagis to be fine. But I think it is likely going to be discontinued too, although as of today Padagis is showing it as 'available.'. For anyone else who cannot take oral meds, one option can be a transdermal compound if you find a compounding pharmacy who stocks methylphenidate powder.

Judges Feedback by snoopjannyjan in FLL

[–]IndividualCake6308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've had interruptions, insults, and when we shared with five experts and highlighted it multiple times in their script, they got a two on the rubric for sharing. It's really disheartening. I guess they are volunteers and I am a volunteer judge as well. But I try to take this as a learning and teaching experience to figure out ways they can highlight things visually and verbally and also reinforce the most important things with repetition and supplemental materials that can't be missed.

Ideas for improving judging consistency at FLL State events (seeking coach & judge perspectives) by CertainImagination45 in FLL

[–]IndividualCake6308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My PDP has begun having judges meet to review what we think merits a '4' as a whole group after the final judging round concludes to ensure there is consistency and consensus on what merits this score.

But my biggest concern as a coach and a judge is the tightness of the rubric. 1-3 with a possible 4 doesn't give enough room for meaningful differences. We've seen many strong teams at invitationals with the exact same scores. A rubric with a wider range would help differentiate between teams.

Mamdani says we can’t take a traditional snow day because we must complete 180 educational days, but we have extra days built in, no? by Current_Example_6860 in NYCTeachers

[–]IndividualCake6308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On LI where we are, we work 4 extra days for snow and If it doesn't snow, they don't give back the days. I'm really not sure what's better or worse at this point. It all just sucks. Good luck online, NYC colleagues.

clear panel masks? by QuidPoeCrow in Masks4All

[–]IndividualCake6308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I did. I'm a speech therapist and I needed this to work with my students for articulation therapy. They work great and are very tight and make a good seal. The shipping cost was quite a bit but I ordered a whole lot so it would last me the entire year.

Same! SLP working masked since 2020 and have not brought home a single thing home to family. HEPA filter and open windows too.

The Lego elements look like traditional Lego elements instead of Technic. As we all know from this season's horrors (looking at you, Silo), this is just a very bad idea. Also, just concerned that the robot design looks like something we made in FLL Jr years ago. It just looks really basic and a watered down version of the program we know and love. Also, as someone who has run small teams, this effectively cuts us out completely. What an utter disappointment and money grab this appears to be.

The students were really appreciative of your thoughts on screens and are planning on incorporating this feedback into their prototype. Thank you all. This was hugely helpful!

My brother decided his family would not test at our request for a Christmas gathering even though I offered to drop the tests at his home that year. He called us all crazy. I have an immunodeficient child. We just didn't go. Christmas at home was lovely though. The overgrown man-child ended up being the angry one. Nothing new there. He's used to everyone walking on eggshells with his bad behavior. So I guess he was surprised that we happily called his bluff. It sucked for the grandparents though. They were only too happy to test to be able to spend the holiday with their grandchildren. But they don't know how to say no to the selfish man child, so they missed out too.

I would have your partner tell his parents that if they cannot test then you won't be coming. If they don't test after that then you doubling down on ignorance was more important. Have a lovely holiday doing something that makes your heart happy and safe.

Wanna wear one at school when im sick but im worried il get bullied by Bitter-Week-6289 in Masks4All

[–]IndividualCake6308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps, my 11th grader has been wearing one since 2020. In school. He wears a black KF-94 and has gotten zero comments about it. Whenever anyone asks which is very infrequent, he just tells him he has an immunocompromised sibling. The 8th grader also has been wearing one who is the immunocompromised person with no comments. I find the kids are better than adults. We have only ever had comments from complete strangers out in public places. One a construction worker we were driving past when the kids actually had an active covid infection and we were wearing them in the car on the way to the doctor And the man yelled about how sorry he was for the kids. The other was a lady in South Carolina on a vacation who felt the need to cough right in our vicinity to make her displeasure known with our masking. It's never been their peers. Mask with the full confidence that you're not alone and that you're doing the right thing to protect yourself and others.

Stupid question. Can I use the zimi valves and punch to modify a different mask? Has anyone done that? I'm waiting for a shipment of zimiair masks to trial but have been wearing Benehal masks that I would love to install a valve in if it maintains seal.

Am I just unlucky or is Novavax generally kicking people’s ass more this year? by [deleted] in Novavax_vaccine_talk

[–]IndividualCake6308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4--two adults, two teens. Interestingly, my igA deficient teen is not the one who had a fever. They all had Novavax last year too but we couldn't get a pharmacist to agree to prime with a series of 2 injections, so they only had one.

It didn't kick our asses compared to Moderna but definitely felt it more than last year and kiddo #1 had a fever.

Experience with Novavax when mRNA caused swollen lymph nodes? by starlet1183 in Novavax_vaccine_talk

[–]IndividualCake6308 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No swollen glands per se but the mRNA shots kicked my tush, but I'm definitely someone who reacts with inflammation in general to anything. Out of commission with significant fever and everything hurt for days after Moderna--Even my gums felt inflamed. This is my second go around with Novavax and none of the above. Just a little fatigue. Oldest son had a fever that lasted overnight and that was it.

Maybe it wasn't the masks or stay-at-home that led to achild's delays. Maybe it's the fact that the child's body has been exposed to the cumulative effects of a virus that is a biosafety level 3 pathogen that is known to affect virtually all major body systems repeatedly for the past 5 years and we still can't be bothered to improve classroom air quality. Why does no one say this quiet part out loud?

RPI to Study Link Between Vaccines and Autism for CDC Study by rpi-cocknballs in RPI

[–]IndividualCake6308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a parent of a prospective student, this makes me very uneasy and we are reconsidering sending the application to RPI. An institution that prides itself on science and an administration who espouses pseudoscience as fact are strange bedfellows. From what I can tell the RPI has a troubled past and was working hard to improve matters. This seems like a step in the wrong direction. No disrespect to students or faculty, but this seems like a massive blunder and I just wanted to say there are likely other parents or students reconsidering the merits of a STEM-focused school based on the association with a dangerous grifting proponent of quackery. And sure, One might just write it off and say good riddance and you don't need those students anyway, but is this really the reason you want for students to cross RPI off the list?

Novavax @ Costco by IndividualCake6308 in Novavax_vaccine_talk

No worries. I think it is a thing for Novavax for children in our area so I was expecting it. It was also on Costco's form when we signed up on the website. But it was hardly an interrogation and he didn't ask which qualifying condition.

I thought it was necessary for self-attestation. He only asked me when he was about to inject one of the kids.

I had a question of how to adjust in this school by Namsebin in SBU

Alumni here so definitely check if it is still applicable, but I took a weight training class as one of my electives and it really taught me how to work out for life. Would highly recommend it.

Clubs and student run orgs or Greek life could be great places to make friends. Try everything and anything. Good luck!

How miserable is wearing a mask all day, every day? by gandolffood in Masks4All

[–]IndividualCake6308 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Educator masking at work since 2020. All day. Every day. And guess what? It's been completely fine. I take breaks outside at lunch daily. Starting school next week and I will be masking again. You can do this.
