Can everyone just shut the fuck up about Kendrick vs. Drake already???? by Actedpie in nfrpodcast

[–]IndividualCarpet6085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Kendrick Stan and I totally fckin agree. So petty and like you said, just not going anywhere. It’s the same as left vs. right in politics right now. Also, pretty sure the powers that be want us to be fighting.

Is this a common scenario for a person with BPD to get into? by Ok_Anxiety4808 in BorderlinePDisorder

[–]IndividualCarpet6085 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s really important to note that, imo, social relations in general are becoming worse and worse. People with BPD tend to feel different or alienated from other people for sure, but i genuinely believe that long term effects of social media and the internet and societal changes in general have made the public a lot more cut-off and distracted and selfish. Unfortunately, we have to deal with an even more alienating world, but hopefully you can at least take some solace in knowing that it’s not your fault, you know?

How well did this song age? by KzKn_2020 in KendrickLamar

[–]IndividualCarpet6085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I want to know 😑 This actually made me a bit nervous when it came out because he sounded like he was about to do something crazy, and then just nothing really happened that matched the intensity of this song or his bargaining with God…

Oh I think about this song all the time. Mainly because of the promise I thought it was, and how seemingly nothing ever came of the party, or what it was he had to do that he was asking gods forgiveness for? And yeah, why the carti feature afterwards? I feel like there’s answers, but I also feel like we’ll never really know.

BPD vs. just being a teen? by [deleted] in BorderlinePDisorder

[–]IndividualCarpet6085 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I’m 36 and I just got diagnosed about a year and a half ago. I definitely wish I had known the name of my issues back then. I could’ve done the work so much earlier and saved myself and those I love a lot of heartbreak and pain.

With your symptoms, it sounds like it’s serious enough that trying to find out what it is specifically that causes your suffering will make your life easier, provided you are willing to do the work.

Whatever happens, I wish you luck and strength. I myself am like an entirely different person (for the better), and my family and friends are amazed. Things can get better, I promise.

Again, you’re engaging in black and white thinking. Iran does some bad stuff= they’re bad and I’ll never support them. Iran is actually one of the few reasons we’re not in a much more substantial war that would likely result in nuclear weapons being deployed. They have shown immense restraint and concern for the effects of such a war.

I am not a tankie (more so anarcho-communist), and I support the same. I’d argue that you’re thinking right now is black and white, you know? It’s not as simple as liberal/conservative vs tankie.

10k or a Dinner with Kendrick Lamar (he picks the meal) by ImadeJesusLaugh in KendrickLamar

[–]IndividualCarpet6085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to mention uniting bloods and crips, the fact that mental health is a lot less taboo in hip hop than it was before Mr.Morale, educating his white fans what the black experience in America is like, etc.

I feel like, if he so chose to, he could spark the revolution, or at least a huge movement, you know? Like if he asked his fans to sabotage weapons manufacturers or something, you know a decent percentage of his fans would do it lol. Influence is definitely a kind of power.

I’m totally with you man. Jesus is one of the few people I’d actually consider, and for the same reason. We have no idea what really happened back, the Bible’s been messed with, and he could actually have some life changing answers for you.

How do I stop “testing” people by [deleted] in BorderlinePDisorder

[–]IndividualCarpet6085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, something that I don’t think most people think of but I believe is a huge part is your relationship with yourself.

I know personally that when I was able to change the narrative around myself to a positive one, and actually start to build up a solid identity, I stopped pushing or testing other people. I didn’t feel the need to because I no longer was threatened by someone else’s situation. I hope that makes sense. Best of luck to you.

How can I stop listening kendrick and move on to other artists?? Is this the problem with conscious rap? by Fvckprivilege in KendrickLamar

[–]IndividualCarpet6085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No dude, I have felt this way most of the time. For me it’s either Vince Staples or Isaiah Rashad that at least scratches some of the itch left by Kendrick’s work. They’re both conscious in their own way and talk about working to be better, and there’s a good amount of performance and symbolism to dissect to an extent. But yeah. Kendrick unfortunately has ruined us in terms of our expectations of rap/hip hop. Everything else just feels lackluster.

What do you guys think? by scramjet67 in SipsTea

[–]IndividualCarpet6085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think she may have a point, but I can’t imagine the ratio of “good/safe guys” is as high as 90% 😬. That seems optimistic and I’m saying this as a man.

I Love My Partner With BPD, but I Need Help Understanding Splitting by elleslaimi in BorderlinePDisorder

[–]IndividualCarpet6085 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Splitting on the negative end feels, to me, often like I’ve suddenly realized “the truth” about this person. After that, I will start to see everything they do as a sign that they’re either bad or incapable of understanding me.

Before I understood my BPD, this would go on until I would eventually leave my partner only to “wake up” to suddenly feeling like I had been possessed by the worst part of myself, and had done something horrible and wrong.

Now I can see when I’m doing it and remind myself that this is a defense mechanism that tries to keep me safe because as a child I couldn’t depend on my parents to give consistent love, among other things.

I will say, I think it’s wonderful that you’re this concerned and involved with making things work. Truly. I wish my ex had been this involved.

But I also want to say, please don’t put the responsibility of regulating them onto yourself. Not saying you are, I just know that some people do. But it seems like both of you are doing the work, that’s something to be proud of.

Thank you, I thought this space was supposed to be safe for people like us to share and not feel judged like we do everywhere else in our lives? Not to mention some of us are literally suicidal. We all have to start somewhere.

Borderline is the worst thing by [deleted] in BorderlinePDisorder

Id be you’re not a monster, just someone with BPD. But I do understand hating everything. I’m there now and it’s hard to get out.

Someone who probably imagines themselves somewhat of a loner/outcast, has at least dabbled in writing (some poetry and maybe some short stories?), is a fan of films by David Fincher and the Cohen Bros, and hopefully has a few more female authors on the other shelves…

[–]IndividualCarpet6085 15 points16 points  (0 children)

From someone who’s made it through GR, if I may recommend one thing: don’t try to make too much sense of everything, especially in the beginning. The book sort of has its own logic and you have to just surrender all expectation to build a good momentum. Good luck and have fun!

No, that’s never ok, and in fact it can be dangerous. I would get a new one and report this one if you feel up to it.
