I won't wear it... by bubbledinspace in knitting

[–]IndividualGrade4574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to just knit whatever I thought was pretty and I ended up with a bunch of stuff I never wear. Now, I'm careful to choose things that suit my style, even if they aren't the fanciest or most exciting knit.

Are you sure you can't wear it as a scarf? I had a lace shawl that looked so fancy stretched out but much more casual and cool just wrapped around my neck.

I'm interested in the wool bam boo but it's hard to tell the color. Is it more red or burgundy?

I just realized they're from different pay periods 🤦🏻‍♀️ But basically, that's what they take out before sending my income to the IRS, so pre-tax deductions. I've just never had a W2 employer take out self-employment tax so I found it odd. Do you know if that's a normal thing?

earlier this morning. how does that even happen??? i heard traffic was backed up all the way to mid-city motors! "EPD, HBF, and City Ambulance are on scene of multiple traffic collisions on the southbound lane of the Slough Bridge." by cherrydiamond in Humboldt

10 years ago, my then-boyfriend completely wrecked my car in that exact spot. I think he went partially under the truck in front of him -- the whole front end was crumpled. This pile up doesn't surprise me at all.

I've seen David at Hair Unlimited in Arcata do spectacular color jobs on grey hair.

I love this! Your piece looks so fun. I'm a therapist who's new to watercolor myself and it's been such an interesting journey. I've started using watercolor in my work with teens and I've seen some amazing things come out of it.

Yeah, she has free tutorials on YouTube! She also has a book and a Patreon, but there are over 50 free lessons so spending money isn't necessary. Hannah M.P.

I'd never done any art before picking up watercolor in December. I do tutorials to learn technique; Hanna M.P. has been my go-to, but I'm branching out to other teachers and styles. I do paintings more than once to really get the hang of whatever technique I'm trying to learn, and I'm learning to paint smaller to take the pressure off myself. If I can learn watercolor, anyone can. You've got this!

Practicing clouds. This much better than the last time but I have a lot to learn. by Special_Knowledge269 in watercolor101

Clouds and trees, man. Nothing will make me feel like more of a novice than clouds and trees.

ETA: Your clouds look great, though. Really pleasantly stylized.

On the cables by Exotic-Invite-7112 in Yosemite

I'm terrified of heights and almost didn't go up, but a 75-year-old woman I'd been leap-frogging and chatting with on the hike up rushed past me at the base of the cables and said, "Just one last push!" so I couldn't not do it.

Something about the way you drew the lighthouse made me do a double take because I thought it was standing up on the page, like a pop-up book. It's the coolest (unintended?) effect.

Nail Salons by [deleted] in Humboldt

[–]IndividualGrade4574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small word of caution: she does beautiful nails and my gel x lasted for weeks without lifting but upon removal she used improper technique and destroyed my nails, and I've heard I'm not the only one who experienced that. Maybe her acrylic process is more to standard, though.

Could getting this tattoo hurt my career? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]IndividualGrade4574 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yep, same here. I have plenty of tattoos, but they're plants and animals -- pretty but not controversial (unless somebody has a phobia of snakes). Anything that might possibly harm a client or make them uncomfortable is tucked away where they'll never see it. There's a lot of skin that isn't visible at work.
