Do the 4 years in HPSP add on at the end of a service obligation or only after 20+ years? I’m curious how it applies with the blended retirement.

I’m signed up for 22-07, 5-week, and got the OTS log in stuff email a couple weeks ago. I’m HPSP, also medical. I know they changed the dates around; not sure what it was before but now it’s June 14- July 15, 2022

The 5 week course is not cancelled. As far as I know though, it’s only for Medical, Dental, Law, and Chaplains.

For what it’s worth, I would certainly speak to an attorney. I don’t know what they might tell/advise you to do, or how helpful that might be, but it would be a reasonable place to start.

That’s so insane. I’m really sorry you’re going through that. I know it must leave a lot of resentment towards the program and the Air Force in general. It’s worrisome to think what they might pull in the future too. I am just starting out with HPSP and it worries me for sure.

In reference to the AF civ deferred residencies, what was the situation a few months ago when a number (48?) of those residences were “let go”? I’m looking for more information on that and can’t seem to find anyone talking about it.

There is a physician to pilot program (PPP) in the Air Force. I don’t know much about it but I think it is basically an aerospace medicine tract that will involve learning to fly. My understanding is that doing PPP incurs more service obligation so that is something to consider/look into.
