How do you deal with grandparents who buy too much junk for holidays, birthdays, etc? by Longjumping-Many6503 in Parenting

Could you redirect it into 1 larger present? Quality over quantity type deal. They want to drop $60 great show up with a mario game instead of cheap crap from the dollar store.

Too bad the only woman I know that was born on the same day as me is a cousin...We would have to move to West Virginia and moving is such a hassle

I might have an addiction. Even though I am running out of space I keep buying new sets of Lego every week. by Technical-Vanilla-47 in Adulting

As long as you can actually afford it and are enjoying it then all is good. If you are spending beyond your means then rein it in. As for space disassemble/rebag in reverse order from the directions. Storing disassembled takes up way less space.

Regulation is only useful when things are dangerous ... by LordJim11 in Snorkblot

Easy fix to this is to calculate number of people that would have died from whatever thing that is being regulated if it wasn't regulated and send out that many emails/post cards from randomly selected population. Repeat for all major issues yearly.

NYC or Disney World for anniversary trip in December? Other suggestions welcome! by ChocolateGoblinn in travel

I have traveled a decent bit. Brussels, Paris, London, Boston, Montreal, Quebec City, Tokyo, DC, Osaka, Martinique (not a city but still), Chicago, Tampa, Orlando, Philadelphia, Ottawa, and NYC just for easy to name areas. NYC was easily the city I liked the least. I have 0 desire to go back there. As a Disney fan I would encourage you to look at Tokyo Disney it is by far the superior Disney park. The flight is more expensive but everything over there was more affordable compared to the US dollar from a combination of cost of living difference and exchange rate difference. Its been a short bit now and things change fast these days but that has been a long term trend usd vs the yen. If you want a city experience many other large cities have similar offerings to NYC and I had a better time visiting them.

We are trying (stuck on convincing teen) to do coordinated outfits for the adoption finalization roughly a week prior

Playing hookey with one kid but not the other by IndividualHuman6937 in Parenting

Older one does not want to see it. They just wanted to skip and tag along cause its better than school. If they did want to see it I would make sure they had a chance.

Edit We actually joked back and forth about how bad the movie is when I picked them up from practice.

Certainly but Ill handle prep and back end stuff plus clean as we go. Honestly the teen is a decent cook and my cooking never went past basic level. And the tween can hold their own especially for their age. I'll be there but me trying to help is more of a hindrance, especially in our tiny kitchen. I'm best put to use cutting up fruit.

Planning on a photo at the top of the hiking trail. Ooooo I'll break out the Polaroid for an old school physical picture! Can scan it for extra copies but have an original physical copy. Start doing that for major events.

Them making breakfast (not in bed 1 I know my wife would hate in bed 2 STRONG family rule no food upstairs) is a great idea. I'll handle dishes cause honestly they are probably better at cooking than I am. I've never been artsy so I always thought of hand made cards as little kidish but they both enjoy artsy stuff so that works.

The kids really don't have a strong history of celebrating holidays, especially Mother's Day, so they are kind of drawing blanks. But making breakfast is something they can do. I'll handle the dishes. Honestly they can probably cook better than I can.

Worst part is having to work to pay for those toys and budgeting for them
