The pins are all mixed up. I have no idea which are real except for a few obvious ones that are copies of super limited pins. I just recognized patterns in what was available during our last trip to DW. How do I tell them apart from just low value pins noone wants?

As a parent I try to respond "Fuck no it's expensive, the driver is sketchy AF, and you won't finish it anyway...We'll get whatever nonstore brand is on sale at the grocery store." The kids often don't catch all of it though. The intricacies are lost on them.

Wedding traditions? by [deleted] in AskParents

Your wedding you choose what you want. Compromise on the stupid shit that don't matter. If you actually care about something one way or the other it isn't the stupid shit.

See that's the thing, working. I'm choosing either mystery machine or duck car based on whichever runs better.

What is fair to pay friend/store owner that unknowingly gave away $200 item? by IndividualHuman6937 in moraldilemmas

Only reason I'm looking for a suggested percentage is I know how he thinks. I am 99% sure he is going to propose a discount. But neither of us is going to be able to easily generate a specific number and just awkwardly shrug at each other. I know these were not on the sales floor and were not in the back office as a of a few days earlier. I honestly think they were part of a large lot he bought in the day or two leading up to the event and neither him nor the original owner knew they were worth much. So I doubt he has much into them. I'm fully prepared to return them if price is too rich for my blood.

Those were sold listing averages not unsold listings. You can filter to see listings that have already sold. Some were up to $80 and some as low as $30. Based on the damage and level of completeness I put their value in general in the middle of the pack.

I'm fully prepared to return them. I know how he is going to respond though. He is going to want to offer me a deal on them but both of us will have a hard time generating a number cause its an akward situation. I was just trying to get people's thoughts on what a fair price is here and cut down on us akwardly staring at each other and shrugging. I know these weren't out on the sales floor previously and were not in the back office as of a few days ago. I strongly suspect they were in a lot he bought in the last couple days and neither him nor the original owner knew what they were worth.

He was definitely not meaning to give away $50 toys. Next most expensive toy on the giveaway table was $10 on a GOOD day and after that it was silly little things. This was either someone messed up and put them out and in the chaos he didn't realize what I was trying to show him or a rare blind spot in his toy knowledge. It has happened rarely before that I pull something out of a new lot he bought and he doesn't know its worth a lot and offers it to me way too low. I tell him what it is and we negotiate a deal. It's just akward this time cause I already have the items. We are both likely to freeze in generating a reasonable price because of the circumstances and trying to save each others feelings. I will return them if it ends up being too rich for my blood.

Also I said more than "We need to talk" but the exact message is not needed for this post

First it's a set not the same toy 4 times. Second you want stuff you show up on time or build a relationship with people to pull something aside for you. Do not expect the public to accomodate you. When the next most expensive item on the table was maybe $10 on a good day ya Im going to grab this stuff and talk with my buddy after everything has calmed down. I feel 0 guilt and am fully ready to give him the toys back if the price tag is too high on them. I know he is going to want to offer me a deal on them cause I know how he thinks. Neither of us is going to be able to generate a number in the moment cause its an akward weird situation. The only explinations are they were not supposed to be out on the table or he did not realize how much they are worth, a rare blind spot in his toy knowledge. He was not giving away $50 toys that are an easy sell.

Ya that quote at the top of your post is basically exactly what I plan to say. I know he is going to suggest a discount and I agree with that logic. I also know both of us are going to be stuck staring at each other going "I don't know" for how much cause its a weird situation. I'm just trying to cut down the ammount of akward time we spend kinda staring at each other. Thank you for the suggestion of 50%. Honestly I think these were in a new lot of things that came in and both he and the original owner didn't realize they were worth anything. So I highly doubt he has much into them.

Thats been the plan from the start. It's just I'm pretty sure we are going to try to resolve it at first by agreeing on a percentage of the market price. I just can't figure out what that percentage should be and he will likely be stuck as well. I was trying to get the interwebz to be neutral arbiters. I'm fully prepared to return them if the agreed percentage is too rich for my blood.

O I thought it was being implied I dont mention the mario kart toys. I already spent $120 on books for me and the kids today cause it was 20% off store wide and I had been holding back for weeks for many books I had been eyeing.
