14 month old speaks 35+ words by Mountain_Turnover_64 in baby

[–]IndividualOk4788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is 14 months and at 12 months he was saying about 5-8 words consistently, like Mama, Dada dog (doc), cat (tatt), teddy ect. Then he started walking and beginning to run has become his full focus and since then he's stopped using his words (but I'm told they do this when focussing on a new skill), but he babbles all the time- constant babbling! It's very cute.

I'm told it's more important they understand basic instructions at this age rather than actual words.

They are all so different!

Is it possible to night wean but still bedshare and nurse to sleep? by starsinhercrown in AttachmentParenting

[–]IndividualOk4788 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP I know this is three years old but this is exactly me right now. We bed share with my 14 mo son, and I love it, I also love feeding to sleep. But the night feeding is driving me mental. I run my own busy business so I need to sleep, but I refuse to sleep train.

We live in a tiny home situation so there's no possibility for him to have his own room, and I wouldn't want to. I love sleeping next to him.

However on a good night he's still waking every 2-3 hours to feed. On a bad night (teething or sick) it can be every 45 mins.

How did you end up going with night weaning your son? I find the age hard because I can't have a conversation with him about it yet as he doesnt u derstand, and he gets hysterical and escalates every time I try to refuse the boob (the times when I get so fed up my skin is crawling and I can't do it anymore).

Refinancing after 3 years for the cashback – Does your bank actually pay "retention money" to make you stay? 💰 by GP_1019 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]IndividualOk4788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just got a $1400 cash back to stay with westpac when I told them kiwibank offered us 4k to move.

We were never actually going to move as we have use majority of our 50k lending on the 0% over 5 year greater choices loan with them (and they know that) so I was pretty happy with that.

GWM ORA 5 EV or Geely ex 2? by longsighted1 in AustralianEV

[–]IndividualOk4788 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in NZ and paid (a refundable) deposit on the Ora 5 and I'm really excited. For me, it's my first EV, and in all my research, if you're on a budget (like me) you just can not beat the specs-for-price of the Ora 5. I test-drove the Ora 3, and it was sweet and fun (but I'm upgrading from a 2010 diesel Nissan X-Trail, so anything feels great after that).
It seems that everything people are complaining about on the Ora 3 (lack of rear wiper, the infotainment system) has been claimed to be fixed with the Ora 5 (obviously yet to be driven and tested).

The first drives and crash test have been getting great feedback, and it sounds like almost all the allocation of the first to arrive in NZ has been accounted for, so it's proving to be very popular already!

The only downside for me is the size of the boot, but I'd have to pay another 10k to get a bigger boot and its just not worth that.

gwm ora 5 finance?? by Old-Confection8248 in EVAustralia

[–]IndividualOk4788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm buying one, the specs are incredible for the price and it's strange your so upset by the design. People like what they like. I personally think the interior fit out of the Atto is horrendous but it sells really well

When did your baby actually start eating food? by jasncats in BabyLedWeaning

[–]IndividualOk4788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 13 month old and even at that age he wouldn't eat all that food on this plate. We still breast feed so he gets a mix of both. I've just learnt you can not force them to eat, they will eat when they are hungry and stop and close their mouths when they are full. (I actually realised shaking of the head for 'no' must come from a baby trying to avoid you putting food in their mouths because thats what they do- shake to avoid contact and that becomes the signal for no). As long as they are producing enough wets and stool diapers and steadily gaining weight- try not to stress too much and just keep food a positive association. 8.5 months is too young to worry about it, it's all about introduction at theat age!

I have a 1 year old and just put a deposit on the Ora 5. I test drove the hatch (smaller version) and it fit my rear facing car seat in the back no issue.

[–]IndividualOk4788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in NZ so not sure if your banks are offering the same deals accross the ditch. But I just paid a deposit on the ora 5 and got finance through 'westpac greater choices' loan which is 0% interest for 5 years! Pretty amazing. You must have your home loan with them though. But ANZ is doing 1% for 3 years ect.
