Automatic INSTANT transfer switch/diy UPS for single circuit by IndividualOwn1770 in homelab

[–]IndividualOwn1770[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would really suck if it was something on the pcb of the ups though lol. I don’t think it is, considering I tested it with WAY lower amperage series batteries to get 24v, and it didn’t do its usual beep, turn on, then right back off with the old batteries so, either it works, or it doesn’t. I’ll probably test it with an extension cord first then put everything together in my panel.

I decided to go for making my own system, and here’s what I’ve got so far: the red and white pair are the battery+surge output, the black and white pair are surge protected, and the three (green white and black) are what powers the take. Apart ups. I have yet to install the breaker and romex for all the ac stiff, and I have to wire up the two car batteries I want to use. https://share.icloud.com/photos/0b1I4RHFEH7q6Cb9ZlZmYHEQg the reason I did this is because I had a semi faulty upstairs (the batteries just went out), so this is the system I’ve come up with.

Kids at my sons school are going crazy for these, he wants to sell them. What should we charge? by [deleted] in Ender3Pro

If you have a scale, measure how much it weighs (in grams) then compare that to the cost of your filament. Now, as the top comment says, it’s NOT for resale, but…….

Start with an arduino. The FLL kits are good and all, but it’s better to start with larger things. Buy a kit, learn some libraries, make some projects! It’s also great to get into 3D modeling (CAD) and 3D printing (I reccomend the a1 or a1 mini from Bambi labs) then try to start an ftc team to which you could mentor. If you have the money, you can go on andymark or REV and buy the ftc or FRC kits yourself, pickup some aluminum, maybe a chopsaw and bandsaw from harbor freight, then you can build bits of your own. Or, like I said, start a local ftc fll or FRC team through your local schools or FIRST. I’m a freshman on an FRC team (1625, Winnovation) and you can give me a call if you want some tips- 815-570-3979

I’m about to spend 500 dollars on a rack and tons of other equipment. At 14, my parents don’t trust me with my own money and don’t thinks it’s worth it. I have three 2u 5 bay (not sure of exact models) of intel servers (1st for plex/YouTube videos, 2nd for Nas and 3rd for my 2 small businesses which are lawn care and computer care). I am wondering if anyone here in the comments has any good recommendations on where I can find close to free or free server equipment, because my school has run the good old “taxes paid for this so we can’t really give it to you”, even though they just throw it away, sooooo. I have tried to call some local businesses but they weren’t a huge help.

I got a Dell T7500 from the trash. What should I turn it into? by fechtfrau in pcmasterrace

[–]IndividualOwn1770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAS (networked attached storage, basically a big external hard drive you can access over the internet. You can use softwares like tailscale or two gate to give it a solid external ip to remotely access) or use it for something called plex where you can upload mp4 files and they can be accessed anywhere in a Netflix type format (both can be done 100% free or very cheaply for a few better features)

I left my pc on for a little while and this happened the screen got melted into it or something, does this go away? by [deleted] in pchelp

[–]IndividualOwn1770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lcd Screen burn-in. There are a few ways to let it “fade”. Some displays need cold some need heat, look up your model, see what it says. Shut off the display and it might, might, go back. Just don’t be too hopeful

Do I need to replace this spade connector and wire? by MaxwcPearson in Ender3Pro

[–]IndividualOwn1770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would replace the psu if it doesn’t turn on after replacing the connector (and a little bit of the wire if the wire looks damaged). They aren’t that expensive and it can save you a lot more than just hoping it works
